Quelme:If you can't answer the question, just say so. Don't hurl insults. It is impolite Analysiscorner: For sure you will get a fair hearing. They will ask you why you disobeyed a superior order to refer the patients. You will tell them you wanted to 'save life'. God help you if just one of the 7 patients developed a complication or died why you were trying to 'save life'. They will tell you that the patient may have lived if you had obeyed your senior and referred on time. They will tell you there is no room for superheroes in medicine. They will then starting debating how long to seize your license for. If you are a HO with only a temporary license, then gbese re o! 5 Likes |

As 'bitter' as you claim your experience as a doctor was today, It's nowhere near as bitter as the young lady who lost her life or the young man robbed of his fiancé under your watch 5 Likes 1 Share |

So sad Doc but I thought the oath doctors swear to is to save life first. How come oga at the top give an order that no payment no treatment? This is how poor people are dying everyday like chicken. I just hate some policies in this country. 1 Like 1 Share |

cramjones: We should aim to get the government to make a blanket policy to cover emergency cases so such things won't happen again. Right now things are left at the discretion of the medical personnel and you know some will be wicked while some will be nice so we need a policy to compel even the wicked ones to do the right thing. I think the Op is a nice man just that he wasn't bold enough to stand for what he knows is right, lets just encourage him to stand for what's right next time even if he's job is in danger 4 Likes 1 Share |

cramjones: Please note that I have not insulted you but let me educate you as you are hell bent on showing your ignorance. In UK and USA you keep quoting, in events of mass casualties a code is called. That code is call all doctors in the location to provide support because the number of casualties are beyond the capability of the ER doctors. Also note that in UK or USA, the emergency room has more than one experienced doctor always on ground but in this case only one doctor was in the ER. Finally, in UK and USA you keep quoting, the ambulance service would have stabilised the patients before presenting at the hospital. Here, the patients where in the booth of a police jeep watch HOUSE or Gray's anatomy. 8 Likes |

Cover your head in shame Doctor... All you did through out the ordeal was to go buy airtime, you administered nothing as the so called doctor that you are to relieve any of the patients form their suffering. Typical Nigerian doctors... Heartless, incompetent and lack love for fellow human life.. They are just there to make money. 4 Likes |

Now I know why most accident victim don't make it...our doctors are all murderers! See how they are trooping in to side their fellow murderer...it cos they all do it or have done it at some point! The problem isn't obeying order, the problem is the mindset of that doctor cosmatika...if you don't have empathy, you have no business being a doctor cos that's what make good doctors If you are in it for money, why don't you go open a restaurant instead of being a doctor...awon oloshi apayan gbogbo! 3 Likes 1 Share |

Leopantro: Thank goodness you said the patient would have been stablized in the ambulance in developed world - the more reason why he should have attempted to stabilize the critical ones he triaged since that did not happen in Nigeria. In this case, come down your high horse - we are in Nigeria, we are not in the UK or USA. There is no red code in our ER, there is paucity of doctors and nurses. In this case calling his other house officers was good to help, but then get to work before calling your second! -CramJones 3 Likes 1 Share |

cramjones: I did not say the op is blameless. he is a green HO in what is probably his first posting. The bulk of the blame is on the Govt and the society at large that allows this kind of scenario to occur time and again. I have donated my own blood 3 times for patients, paid for patient's food and drugs..in a system that does not care.I'm sure my colleagues have their stories too. Before you paint us as heartless beings, tell us what you have done to help. lots of people castigating the op can't lift their finger to help.I have seen where sons refuse to donate blood for their fathers before. so,I beg u again, take your stupidity away from me. p.s,the op does not deserve jail time.a week's extension in A &E maybe. you, definitely deserve it. 12 Likes 3 Shares |

What makes you so sure he wasn't working on the other patients before he made the call to his senior. I'm also happy you said there is a pausity of doctors and nurses. First of all, it's very wrong to put accident victims in the trunk of a car. I bet many of us didn't read that part. Where's is it done? If the chances of survival for that girl was 45%, putting her in the booth can decrease it. Well, Op, you shouldn't have fold your hands and watch her die. You should have tried to see if you could still stabilise her. RIP to her 1 Like |

@Op, some people said you did your best... and my question to you is that, did you actually do your best? was it the best you could do at that material time as a medical doctor? Did I hear you say that you went out to buy airtime, and before you came back one of them had died? Did you also require an 'order' from above to have recharged your phone before resuming duty bearing in mind that there could be an emergency? There is every tendency that you did not know what to do as a fresh medical doctor, hence you watched the accident victims died. We cannot shy away from the fact that Nigerian health sector is flooded by quacks. Should there be any litigation resulting from this scenario , you will have to answer more questions than you can imagine, and I am almost certain that those you claimed ordered you will deny you. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Which way Nigeria? This young lady whose traditional wedding is three days from today just died because of one "oga" at the top. The same with police that delay in giving order for doctor to treat victims of stray bullets. 1 Like 1 Share |

dohyn:So you a doctor too?...shame on you too!...if you are with the op or you have done same before or would have done same...then you are a murderer!...and you have betrayed you oath, you should rather be a butcher! To tell you what I've contributed, I've donated blood free...the number of times of which I've lost count, and each time, I believe I'm saving someone's life...even through my NYSC, at the rigours of camp...I still donated blood Now, imagine you bunch on heartless doctors telling a dying patient money first before treatment and you can still have the mind and conscience to defend his action?...May God Never Ever Forgive You! shame on you again, murderer! 3 Likes |
