Walelavender:that is why it is very difficult to get admission into medical schools in developed countries. having good grades it just a prerequisite. The selection interview is the toughest. They employ psychologist as part of the interview panel. They use it to screen those that might be interested in the profession for glory, money or human compassion. They check if you have volunteered for free just as that is one of an indication of your suitability for a medical career. 2 Likes 1 Share |

BoboYekini:I hope you are not limiting every human experience to science. The dead could indeed be bitter. As for the fiances bitterness, you do the calculation yourself. Something you cherish and have hoped for, for many months, then just 3days to the D day she died without even saying goodbye to you. 1 Like |

cosmatika: I have read through your writeup severally and I am a bit disappointed with you. The whole turn of events is really painful, but as a doctor you need to be careful cos if anyone decides to take this to litigation, trust me you will be the first to go down. You obviously just lost your first patients and the bitter truth is that you may likely lose more even under worse scenario. Your duty as a doctor is to do your utmost best and move on. Coming online to display your emotional fragility and indict your superior is ethically wrong. 3 Likes |

The current concept is saving patient's life first regardless of the cause of the accident, other things will follow. Doc, you should always strive to give your best, but know that no matter how much you try, you cannot exceed what has been destined for your patients. Always make sure you exhaust every human possible means, albeit within medical ethics to assist your patient. Always imagine that you are the patient you are treating; They are involved in accidents, you can equally be in their situation; they can be afflicted with cancer, what says you can't have same..........Always imagine you are the patient you are treating... 1 Like 1 Share |

bayulll01:Now that's the greed . They bluntly refuse to improve the health sector.. I once had the opportunity to help a lady who had an asthmatic attack.. We took her to the nearest hospital and they said they didn't have drugs the only thing they managed to do was force a lady still on asthmatic attack to drink glucose and dissolved paracetamol.. Is that the change we voted for? |

Immediate referral is a huge way of handling emergencies. Based on your descriptions, the police should have immediately taken all patients to FMC where they have greater chances of survival. Please I do not mean to blame you but I will say the following in case of the future: In such emergency situation, physically going out to buy recharge card or call other doctors who MAY NOT be on duty at the time will only waste the little time such patients have to survive. Resuscitation protocols says you should call for help WHILE ATTENDING TO THE PATIENT. It is unfortunate but based on your details, your centre did not have enough personnel or logistics to handle the situation at that moment. The police need more enlightenment concerning the proper/best hospital to refer certain categories of trauma patients. Another issue is the manner our health system is set up. The issue of payment keeps rearing its ugly head( although in this case, the patients were better of referred to a higher centre). We need every citizen to be covered by the National Health Insurance Scheme. If every citizen of this country had a health insurance as matter of policy, the issue of paying before treatment in emergency cases will cease to exist even in private hospitals. 6 Likes |

Crocz: Go read my first post on this topic and stop being emotional. There is a problem in our Health sector and I have offered what I think is the solution. if you cry online from now till 2026,nothing will change and I will still sleep well at night. It's your type that will impregnate a lady, sit on his ass for 9 months without making provisions for the baby and start fighting when they tell him to pay for C/S.. please, don't quote me again. anuofia 12 Likes 1 Share |

Most of our medical personnel have continued to exhibit this carefree attitude over the years...instead of the young Dr to resuscitate the dying patients, he was busy making phone calls to his superior, it's really disappointing and disheartening that we found ourselves in such a country where some medical personnel abandon their duties only to become CALL CENTRE AGENTS when they are supposed to first of all attend to patients in EMERGENCY situations #Sad 5 Likes 1 Share |
