A constitutional lawyer and founder of Change.org, Ms Carol Ajie has petitioned President Barrack Obama of the United States, the National Judicial Council (NJC) amongst others, over President Muhammadu Buhari’s “disobedience of court orders.” Ajie in the petition, which has garnered almost 200 signatories since its launch on New Year's eve, said that Buhari by his statements during the Presidential Media Chat at the State House in Abuja, “is behind the flagrant disobedience of court orders.” The President had during the media chat admitted that the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mr. Nnamdi Kanu were being held against court orders because they could run away. However, Ajie said that this runs contrary to the law and the principle of separation of powers as enshrined in the constitution. The human rights lawyer expressed concern that the President if unchecked might drag the country towards dictatorship. “Buhari took the oath of allegiance to protect the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the President’s oath of office to discharge his duties faithfully, in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of Nigeria. “Within President Buhari’s first year in office, too soon after he took the revered oaths, he and state agents acting under his supervision and at his maiden media chat on Wednesday 30th December, made puerile attempts to justify constitutional breaches. “But under the Immigration Act, the President or the Minister may deport anyone who travels without a valid travel document or detain for a period not exceeding seven days. In holding Kanu beyond the required period, they have infracted on the Immigration Act, the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 and subsisting court orders." “We call on President Buhari to resign from office or face impeachment proceedings. Alternatively, to avoid another Burundi, We call on him to comply with the orders of courts,” said the lawyer in her petition. http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/lawyer-petitions-obama-asking-buhari-to-respect-court-orders/229324/

Ms Carol Ajie need to reformat her memory as soon as possible. We cannot be shouting human right while some bad elements are using that to perpetrate evil. Thousand of souls were no more all because of Dasuki and his Cabal, Kanu his a terrorist which vivian3 sister of blessed memory was one of the victims. This is security matter and I think all this charge and bail lawyer should go and sit somewhere. Now talking about “disobedience of court orders.” I think Obama himself need to be drag to the ICC for floating so many court orders. Close to 3 years now that the US biggest court has ordered Obama/FBI to stop monitoring Americans phone till this morning Obama never respect the court order, so many suspects are dieing in Guantanamo Bay detention camp, Cuba which Obama never give a damn to present them for court trial because its National Security matters. Sai Baba, let them call you any name, the likes of Dasuki, Kanu, Al-Zakazky should remain in DSS custody indefinately for the sake of National Security. We cannot be acting like Somalian and want our country to be like CHINA. God Bless Federal Republic Of Nigeria. 3 Likes |

It's like you read minds This is exactly what i wanted to write .. word for word PassingShot: Protest and petition is what they can achieve , I am sure if he was a US citizen (Impossible really) He'd have gone missing , kidnapped by US special forces , taken to an island surrounded by crocodiles , Alternatively, "Natural** fire would have gutted his studio with him in it I can only blame DSS for letting people know of his arrest, otherwise, nobody will be petitioning another country's president 2 Likes 1 Share |

If only oil price fall could spell doom to Nigeria's economy, her woes would be compounded if any economic sanction is place on her. So for those of you who had 'good intents' for this country, tell your Buhari that there is int'l cooperation that can still tract those people in case they wants to jump bail. 2 Likes |

TalkItAll:this is silly really! First, this charge and bail lawyer should know that Nigeria is a sovereign state. Second, as in the case of the guantanarmo inmates that were held for years without trial, Nigeria also has the right to hold suspect it feels are dangerous to its peace and unity. 1 Like |
