Fleshly: Yes, your US masters overshadows BSc. Trying to get the 2 degrees (MSc and Bsc) evaluated would only slow you down. Evaluate only your Masters 2 Likes |

irondome: Good, thank you. I have to see what I can do about the fund. But, when do they ask about the fund, is before ITA or after ITA. |

Fleshly: All documents are required after ITA, with the exception of ECA and IELTS (as you have to fill in their report numbers during profile creation). Invariably, your first step into the process would be to get your ECA and IELTS test done. After which, you create your profile and wait for ITA. While waiting for ITA or scouting for PNPs, you can start gathering other required documents that might prove difficult to get (e.g FBI report, POF, reference letter of your skilled employment, etc). Please note that at least one year of skilled employment in NOC category (A,O, B) is required to be qualified for FSWC, and must also meet the 67 point criteria. Use the CRS tool below for an estimation of your CRS point. www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/crs-tool.asp |

Dear Seniors, Happy New Year! My plan has been to use my wife as PA for EE due to her favourable age and she is into paid employment. She has taken IELTS twice but, didn't make all the bands, she is not feeling comfortable to retake it. We have both evaluated our certificates through WES. I am self employed, into sales and marketing of petroleum products, I would be 44 years at my next birthday. I had taken IELTS before too but, didn't make all the bands. Now that my wife is reluctant to retake IELTS and it is the only requirement preventing us from entering the pool, what do you advise me to do? Thanks. |

Phemmie72: Unfortunately your age will only fetch you 5 out of a maximum 100 points and it would be more difficult to prove your self employment status especially if you aren't operating under a registered business/company . You can try any of the PNP's but count Ontario out since you're definitely not going to score 400 or above. Your best option would be to plead with your wife to really read and retake the IELTS. |

@Irondome, Just a little more clarifications, (sorry I ask too many questions - this is confusing) The LMIA I understand can be gotten by one entering the Job bank, if i am right, how can I get into the job bank. I've a contact in Canada, can I ask them to arrange an offer letter for me, you know, just to prove that I've a job offer? What do you advice. Lastly, do you've any book or material, for me to ace the IELTS exam. Thanks. |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by irondome: 7:01pm On Jan 02, 2016 |
Fleshly: Unfortunately, you don't get an LMIA on Job Bank; not that easy sir. LMIA (labour market impact assessment) is what employers obtain for each of their prospective foreign hire. The company offering you the "said" job would have to apply for LMIA on your behalf, otherwise, you wouldn't be able to claim the coveted 600 points. The honest truth is - getting one from overseas would be very difficult. On IELTS, for a Nigeria and with a US masters, I believe you already have a solid foundation to ace any IELTS exam. As such, I would advice you pre-occupy yourself with learning few tricks for each module and do lots of practice exams. The internet is awash with lots of materials on IELTS tricks (search for "IELTS tricks" on google and youtube). You can also download practice exams free. 1 Like |

It's nice reading this thread with the valuable information in it. However, I have just discovered that all the provincial nominee programs are currently closed maybe temporarily or permanently. I just want to confirm from those who know the program if I am correct or otherwise. Also, could the closure be temporary or permanent. Thanks |

shodexy: I think only Quebec and Ontario are open for now. You will need to be in the pool with a CRS of 400 minimum to qualify for Ontario PNP. Note that Ontario will usually automatically invite you to apply for their nomination when these conditions are met. As for Quebec; you will need to be very fluent in french language and must have taken the french language test. |

If your EE profile is over a year, you need to delete and create a new one. The profile is only valid for one year |

Happy new year guys, pls I need help. I recently got married and I'm yet to do change of name. My husband is the principal applicant but we plan on using all our accounts collectively as pof even though the required sum is available in one of the accounts. My question here is that, can we both apply as a couple as we have different surnames on our accounts? I used my maiden name to register for the ielts because that's what I hav on my passport. Can my marriage certificate surfice if I upload it on th EE site? I am currently evaluating my degree and preparing for the ielts. |

I still use my maiden name and we applied together. We used a joint account which has both our names. lavivaavril: |

Is there a chance that a PNP can get one in faster thru EE? irondome: |
Re: Canadian Express Entry/federal Skilled Workers Program Connect Here by irondome: 4:39pm On Jan 03, 2016 |
WoodcrestMayor: Have some faith mate; CIC would most likely try to clear their old fsw backlogs before March. I opine you would get your PPR before then. To address your direct question, PNPs are usually not the quickest route because you could spend between 2-8 months getting province nomination and another 1-6 months for the actual visa processing. |
