Bean pudding or moi moi can be baked as against steaming it and you will still arrive at the same end product but with a twist.

we are talking about the traditional african way of preparing moi-moi. Africans have always steamed moi-moi. It was in a bid to apply variations that baking was introduced. My late grandmum would have laughed it off as a joke if she had seen any of her offsprings BAKING moi-moi!!! It is purely unafrican/untraditional!!!

It's a figment of your imagination, and if you went to England and mentioned those names, all you'll get is a blank stare, and possibly a suggestion or two that you see a doctor. In fact, due to their long exposure to Nigerians/Africans, the average English person will know what you mean when you say "moi moi", long before he understands what you mean by "beans cake" or "beans ball", or "bean pudding".

Thats why in cooking d focus is always on the ingredients and not the end product. Those ingredients can be applied in different ways a d you arrive at same result. In this part of the world we always say "this is how I was taught" or "this is what we are used to" just because u were taught that way doesnt make it the only way. There are some cultures where u do not even steam the moi moi but you deep fry it in a container wrapped in foil paper. Its all about the process and ingredients and not particularly about the taste. Some add fish or eggs or even biscuit bone to their moi moi but it does not change the look but the taste.. its still moi moi
