It all depends on the following. 1. Did you declare birth purposes at visa interview or did you send a letter of intent? 2. Where is your final destination? 3. Ticket fares. Generally people say JFK POE is easier but other folks have had proper scrutiny there as well with secondary inspection and delays. Houston POE is said to be tough, Atl also somewhere in the middle of these 2. However ppl have passed through without so much hassle, others have had hassle, others have been turned back. Bottom line, if you have all your necessary documentation, go for the shortest duration. 12 hr flight 9ja to houston or atl. Unless you wanna fly arik, 12 hr flight to jfk. (Lol!) You may have to go for secondary inspection but as long as you have all the right documentation and enough funds, you'll eventually gt through. ccurrie: |

I AM GETTING WORRIED. If Dr F is asking for referrals now then we shld b worried. When u hear someone ask who is Dr F u just know the person hasn't even read any part of the thread at all. Or someone asking for Dr Fs email... My eyes pop out cos that email is like water on this thread. And our constantly posting his email here is what is causing this referral tingy. Cos ghosts members who do not contribute are seriously abusing this good thing we r doing here. Any email or number that has been dropped before let's reduce dropping it again. If anyone needs it, the person has to read through to get it. This birthing thing is an expensive and important venture... Sacrificing a weekend and/or time in d toilet to read through isn't bad at all. Let's stop encouraging laziness... 18 Likes |

A friend of mine is in Houston right now. I didn't even know she was on nairaland... She got all her information here. But she saw hell at the poe. I had to forcefully get her interview and poe transcript... Will post later. Anyway Her colleague was asked to log into her phone. She was sent back The cbp guys said alot of us are coming here with this letter... We get the visa first for vacation then get pregnant and we now send an email to the embassy. It's too much of a coincidence that most people get that visa for vacation on a planned date and suddenly change their mind.. But later come pregnant with a change of intent letter.. And bla bla bla. Lemme quote her quote of his statement " U don't suddenly cancel a family vacation and we all can't suddenly b cancelling family vacation, that's too much of a coincidence" They delayed her for about 10 hours or more and sent her back. she said they were all just pissed off about the same story of "I got d visa before I got pregnant for vacation but I changed my mind when I got pregnant " These ghost members are seriously putting sand in our garri... 14 Likes 1 Share |

they got a pretty good logic that their argument. its becoming too much of a coincidence, begining to sound more like a well thought out and pre-meditated crime. at least, we should try and USE the VISA for a FAMILY VACATION before sending the hot change of intent. that makes it a change of intent na abi? buh then again, we trying to CUT COST and causing trouble for ourselves and others coming behind. Good luck to us all! firsttymum: 5 Likes |

In my opinion, if you want to go for birth purposes simply apply for a US medical tourist visa. Seeing as it is not illegal to give birth in the states, adequate planning and preparation would most likely result in a visa grant. Also, I think it is best to just go with the document from the doctor/hospital that you are actually going to use instead of one you just contacted for POE purposes. Honesty is usually the best and safest policy really. firsttymum: 7 Likes |

I'll just summarize it. Visa interview of my friend She went with her husband... Not pregnant She told vo she's travelling for vacation to new York, and talked about a few places she would like to see. She's spending 10days because that's what they can get from work. As for ties They both manage a company aside their job. VO asked what kind of company and dey explained. Poe jfk The other room after waiting for hours... I see you got pregnant as usual after getting the visa. and changed your mind bout the vacation. This seem to b a pattern She was quiet. The dude calls his colleague and they keep talking about it. (Luckily shetravelled to dubai for business purpose around the time she was meant to travel for vacation) somehow it dawned on her that she might b deported... Hmmm she summoned courage and told d guy she travelled for the vacation but to dubai. She couldn't get cheap tickets to the US but she got a deal to dubai and bla bla... He bought d lie... then he said Givin birth in d US isn't a crime but they want honesty and shii She said there was a lady that said she cldnt get dollars. But said she had money in her cards... And showed them her statement, he called his colleague to check the statement out. So she was asked to log into her Internet banking she said she doesn't do Internet banking. She said they are sorry but don't think she can pay for the medical expenses. She aNd her colleague both planned the birthing tingy together. And planned leasing an accommodation together sef. |

firsttymum: A friend in Houston at present, told me about her friend being turned back at the POE; It may or may not be the same person. Be that as it may, this was definitely bound to happen. We should be aware that those guys are looking for the minutest reason to deny us entry, we shouldn't make it easy for them by travelling ill-prepared or telling needless lies or even putting ourselves in a situation where we come across as dishonest thereby making the Americans generalize Nigerians as crooks 2 Likes |

vcole:What about us when don use our visas tire, renew tire. Come carry belle? Hian. Mae this door never close o! But serzly sha @FTM has a point. Use the visa. Pick a low peak period. Choose a cheap destination. Then truly change the intent. Again we need to come up with other locations for birthing. Nobody has explored the Reno option somebody mentioned. Houston don tire for us o! Btw a friend just birthed triplets in houston. Paid all her bills but used medicaid for NICU. 70k usd for 2 weeks. I tried explaining why she shudnt take it, she no hear. @FTM share the transcript mbok! |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by vcole: 12:20pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
US local flights charge $25 for your first checked in bag, $35 for the 2nd checked in bag and $100 for any additional checked in bag. Also if you fly local, remember that on your retutn leg, you would have to pick up your bags and then commute to the international wing and re-check them in for your international leg since your tickets are seperate. This can be quite tasking with a baby and all. So, i really won't advise that. ccurrie: |

your own case when don use visa tire is not even in this pool oh! technically speaking, you can even go on a birth tourist trip without having to send a letter of intent mail. your own group of people na to hold doctor documents for hand. LadyGuinivere: |

akelvin: Hello ma, I was about asking this when I saw your post. I only got an email from Dr E stating that they will receive me as patient, and also the cost brake down. Is that what you mean? And please should I just print that mail and take along for interview? Was confused if that was okay. |

Thanks all for the help. Dr Fagbohun replied me already. It's okay for someone claiming oldie to throw subs simply because I asked questions. I just didn't join this forum, bin reading up for long. I joined after I had my first baby, I have my visa not that am a newbie, not my first tym going in too. It's a diff ball story when u just read alone to when u read and want to implement all what u've bin reading into actions. Please don't throw subs to someone that is helpless and means no harm. Some good pple sent mails upon my requests, God bless una kind hearts. |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by anonymousmum: 2:17pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
I don't get it though. Is it so difficult to quickly go to the US and come back? No shopping, nothing, look for cheapest ticket, go and come back. Max u go spend 300k. Then like olokings said, it will be a true "letter of change of intent" @ firsty your friend was extremely ill prepared. How can you be saying that tickets were too expensive blah blah. You are not even worthy of vacation if ticket is your problem. I wanted to laugh at the part (i laughed self) that "it suddenly dawned on her that she may be deported". Before? Plus no internet baking yet you show up with cards and statement? Couldn't get dollars it would have been good if this was a solo occurrence, but clearly this sort of things are happening everyday at the various POEs. heck, even the chilled POEs will soon wisen up due to the ineptitude of these folks. I absolutely second the idea of not dropping the e-mail addy anymore. So anyone that gets it from the thread would have genuinely read through and be properly prepared This is a new year, make everyone sit up and gird their loins. Dr F has already entered new dispensation...others to follow... 1 Like |

Thanks alot Nerf, will do that on my next trip. N pls which of the cargo companies did you use. No secret o! Travelex at MMIA usually has dirhams. Av always bought from them when going to dubai to avoid losing twice due to cross exchange but nowadays that things are one kind, you can call in advance to know if they have. Some other BDCs also have dirhams, just ask
|
