1. Netflix content for Nigerian market will have limited / lower content compared to American content.
2. Will be dependent of heavy data usage thus will spend more on data.
3. Must stream high quality videos. Erratic Internet access and supply will make buffering a problem
4. Unique monopoly. Channel O and Nigerian music videos Saga comes to mind.

Considering Netflix is Internet based while DSTV uses a totally different platform, I don't think it will force DSTV to reduce prices. Infact, I expect multichoice prices to go up based on high cost of dollar.

Best option, get Kodi

Good news. They should partner with mobile networks just like Dobox did. Anything less than that is a miss. Imagine using your data to stream a 4k movie.

We're in the era of globalization; companies have to be competitive and adaptable to change if they must survive. irokotv have been accused of cheating producers and directors.

Netflix didn't only come to Nigeria, it also came to 129 countries. Disruption and change is what most Nigerian firms need now. This is where management consulting and advisory services come to play.

BTW, Sony is Japanese, iPOD is American. Patriotism doesn't mean one should have to support/buy products and services that has less quality, that's blind patriotism. Nigerian companies must improve their services and products.

Globalisation didn't make us not being able to refine our crude oil. There's absolutely no political will to ensure petroleum refining in Nigeria, besides for refining to take place subsidy must go; which the current government when in the opposition was against.

Hitv got what it deserve. Instead of Shaibu to further invest his earnings into the firm and raise quality standards, he went on a partying spree, buying a Range Rover Sport and harassing viewing centers owners. He was not astute enough.

The same globalisation you're against is what has enabled Dangote to expand into other African countries, Glo to be in Ghana.

Netflix relies on good/fast internet. Decent internet in nigeria at the moment is in the region of 7-15k per month for a home user.
Unless netflix is ready to put a cap of 5k per month on streaming (and downloading if it applies) then I doubt it'll be a hit. DSTV with sports goes for 15k about

So if you take the lower value of 7k per month for internet and 5k being the cost of monthly subscription then I believe they'd be in for the killing. And then we can begin to pay DSTV less attention. Hopefully, startimes will get a share of the sports bouquet that DSTV currently has

I don't see how the term globalization suits only Western multinationals. The term was coined as a guide for all nations participating in business. If it was designed for only western nations then foreign schools would not have let me enroll for an internatioal business degree, infact the very mention of globalization in africa would have been forbidden.

The truth is most of our indigenous companies can not compete on a global scale so they settle for a home market presence till they get pushed out of the market by leading international brands.

Don't blame the new competitor, blame the government for not supporting indigenous companies and blame those companies for remaining stale, even mediocre in most cases.

True only if the potential existed to begin with. However with nollywood I see no improvement even with protectionism for the next 50 years. The producers are content dishing mediocrity upon mediocrity year after year. Let Netflix shows make them sit up and move to an international standard. It's only we the consumers who'd benefit in the end.

Look at Nigeria's music industry 15 years ago and compare it with what we have now. You'll notice there's been some improvement. This is cos govt promoted music at the local scene.
