Lexusgs430: very true, what i will do once i get the original is go to the Nigerian High Commision and have them stamp a scanned copy, £20 bribe through he door im sure will work haha |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Portsmouth86(f): 4:43am On Jan 06, 2016 |
Ok so I have found that the Nigerian High Commission in London authenticates certificates, so I am going to take a day off to go up there, I'm hoping they can stamp a copy for me, worth a try, will call them when I get a chance to confirm. I found it by googling 'Nigerian marriage certificate' this is listed under http://www.nigeriahc.org.uk/consular

Portsmouth86: And why would you want it stamped? |

Lexusgs430: Authenticated, usually this is by means of a stamp because I just have a scanned copy at the moment |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 4:55am On Jan 06, 2016 |
Portsmouth86: You have a scanned copy presently and UKBA would return the original copy. What's the reasoning behind stamping the original or wanting to stamp the original? |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Portsmouth86(f): 5:33am On Jan 06, 2016 |
Lexusgs430: I dont want to stamp the original, but the scanned copy I have As I previously stated my original is with the HO and I only have a copy(scanned) and wanted to either get a certified copy from Ikoyi or for the scanned copy to be authenticated. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 5:41am On Jan 06, 2016 |
Portsmouth86: If you can get the scanned copy stamped, why pay 40k for reissue? |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Portsmouth86(f): 6:01am On Jan 06, 2016 |
Lexusgs430: Because I have just this evening(or morning) came across the information, that there is an authentication service that the Nigerian High commission in London provide, I just need to find out if they will authenticate a scanned copy, without my original present. |

Portsmouth86: Sounds like you'd be better off just getting the photocopy certified/authenticated from the Nigerian High Commission in London. I suspect it will be like pulling teeth to get another copy from the Ikoyi Registry office. 1 Like |

Hello everyone and especially to the O.P and all the numerous contributors to this forum. I am learning so much this valuable resource and wish to express my utmost gratitude for all the "silent" help pi have all been rendering to everybody especially me as I embark on my quest to get my newly married wife her spousal visa. I have a few questions for anybody that can help me please, 1.i met my wife on Facebook and we have been courting since 2014, I met her and her parents finally in Feb 2015 on a visit to Nigeria but lost all the pics I took to show out time together . 2. I have comprehensive (too much) photographic evidence of time spent together on a second visit in Nov 2015 which was also the time I got married (registry and traditional), is this enough photographic evidence?. 3.I am visiting in a month's time Feb 2016 and plan to go mad with picture taking and amongst other things, to compensate for the loss of the pics from the visit the first time around. This is to be sure I "over have" enough evidence and from at leat two occasions before I apply for the visa. 4.my wife plans to approach Uk naric for an English language degree compatibility cert rather than do the English language test, is this a wise move? 4. |

7508: From your write-up you seem to be the sponsor, why are you doing the English test? NB : Read through the thread and ensure all the prerequisites are meet. As you observed, this thread is a Wikipedia of information!!! |

Thanks for the reply^^^, yes im the sponsor and you are right, im not the one doing the english test but my wife |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Oreskid: 12:03pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
Yes @ 7508, she can use the NARIC to rate her certificate if she got first degree in Nigeria. Get her transcript and original certificate and a letter from here school of study to prove she was taught in English and all address to home office visa section Sheffield and still rate it too. With that no need for English test |

Lexusgs430: No entirely correct. The home office has misplaced the original of my marriage certificate submitted in the course of the processing of my wife British passport. The only thing they have told us that we should request for monetary compensation, if we can proof that our marriage certificate was among the document submitted to them My advice to applicants is to make as many good copies of your MC before using it for UK application. I have to get a copy authenticated by the marriage registry. |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Lexusgs430: 6:20am On Jan 08, 2016 |
ekpotek: I stated not likely, cos the default position is not to intentionally lose documentations. NB: Let's blame all the spousal applications, una too plenty creating too much workload and incompetence(s) Let's not hope the certificate loss, does not happen to Madam. She cannot wait for Mr Bakare anymore(like he should appear this second). I bet she has told him to pack his bags in anticipation!!! 1 Like |

Hello everyone, Please I'd really like to ask... When does one really start counting.. Is it from the date of online submission or from biometrics or from the date one receives a mail from visainfo that application has been submitted |

Lexusgs430: I think you know me too well haha I plan to go out once we know a decision so i can come back with him ekpotek: This has happened a lot, I follow a group on Facebook called I love my foreign spouse, and one lady's documents and her husbands passport was sent to someone else, and few have had documents not returned even though they put copies of the items they want returning. I do have photocopy/scanned ones however I cannot use these to get a visa for myself to travel to Nigeria, I will have to get the visa based without it, its just the hassle, I mean why it is such a mission to get a certified copy from the registry is just shocking |
Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by Portsmouth86(f): 5:18pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
Hi all those who have had visas granted, do you mind listing your timelines. The group I follow on FB called i love my foreign spouse there are a lot of visas granted and who have applied after I have also without priority. Its just so frustrating that other applications have decision made after ours, and we have had no calls either, we are only on working day 38. Some of those who have been denied got the IHS refund before they received the decision email or passport back, what a horrible way to find out its a NO https://www./139807999382936/ link to I love my foreign spouse |

Oreskid: I know, I believe I am being patient more then I thought I'd be, its only this week of having extreme insomnia (with 1 night off in 12 nights of work) that I'm thinking about it also knowing some are already completed way before yours etc even if you applied before them, wondering when or if ill get this interview call as I usually put my mobile in flight mode when I sleep in the day, sods law that calls come in now my mobile is on loud(data off) yet ill put it on silent and no one calls haha 1 Like |
