Hi guys,

Im from pakistan.

Just read that people are calling jf-17 3rd gen.

It is chinese 3rd gen which is equivalent to 4th gen.

The chinese also consider j-10 3rd gen.

They skipped a generation.

So how does Pakistan classify fighter?
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 10:42pm On Jan 08, 2016
The block 2 is 4th gen fighter for pakistan.

Latest J-10b is 4.5 gen.

According to JLN115,

A fighter which has,

- Fly by wire

- Improved Avionics

- EW capability

- Air-Air capability

- MFDs

Is a 3rd GEN jet.

.....You're left to wonder what they teach these m0rons in South-African schools.

If so! Then why are PAC classifying the JF17 as 3rd Gen?
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 10:49pm On Jan 08, 2016
Biggest reason pakistan developed jf-17 with china is there is no worry of sanctions.

We can do whatever we like with it including improving it to 4.5 gen by including aesa radar etc.

Nigeria will have no worries of china or pakistan sanctioning nigeria cause of western pressure.

If nigeria want they can also produce locally.

Its a joint venture with china. They class jf-17 and j-10 as 3rd gen so pac does too.

Its a 4th gen fighter.

China skipped a generation.

Doesn't make sense considering it was marketed to Western countries as well!

Exactly,

PAC and china can use whatever classification they want. Doesnt change the fact that our pilots say its on par with f-16c/d.

Would they lie?

And why would we be producing 250 fighters?

It was made to replace 2nd/3rd fighters in developing nations.

250 "3rd generation" fighters to face fleets of Indian SU-30MKIs/Mirages doesn't make any sense either.
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Sahuchak: 11:13pm On Jan 08, 2016
The f-5 and f-4 are 3rd gen fighters.

The latest mig-21 are 3rd gen fighters.

None are bvr capable like jf-17.

The early f-16s are not bvr capable either and they classified as 4th.

The Nigeria Air Force has very close relationship with the Pakistani Air Force. It was always obvious that Nigeria was going to get the JF-17s.

We should procure at-least 24 jets, we are probably waiting for the trainer versions to come on stream.

The only problem i see is, Pakistan really doesn't have the credit line to support a huge Nigerian purchase. It would mean we might be getting the FC-1s instead.

250 fighters to face lca tejas.

F-16 block 50 for mid range.

J-31 will be our top line fighter.

We are replacing all our f-7s and mirage first. We shall wait till china develops their top line fighters. We dont need sanctions.

Mumu...... Thanks. I always wondered what they are. Aesthetically they give the F-16 a more "macho/bullish" look.
