Why Are Most Igbos Towns Made Up Of 90-98% Igbos Or Native? by realjoker(m): 11:43pm On Jan 09, 2016 |
Please I dont want this to lead to an E-war Mature contribution only if you know you are a tribal fanatic don't bother to make contribution please. Why is it that most Igbo towns are mostly made up of indigenous Igbos People will rather go to Calabar, Port Harcourt or Uyo than to stop at Onitsha which is closer. Is it that Igbos are not friendly, people from other regions despise them so much such that they dont want to look for business opportuinity in their region or there are not enough opportunities outside buying and selling in these igbo towns and cities. Even the north that most of us love to hate and we label intolerant set of people have more concentration of non native in there villages than igbo cities and their town and cities are mostly made up of up to 30-45% non indigenes or non northerners. 19 Likes 5 Shares |

OP you have said your mind and you asked valid questions well, the thing is, nigeria has branded igbo as evil since after the war federal govts has refused to give SE what other regions have thus se is poor and its mostly only business of buying and selling that thrive there SE LACKS SEA PORT GOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT GOOD FEDERAL ROADS AND PROJECTS etc so tell me, who would love to live there if not the natives who can manage? you know, what we have are either provided by state govt or individual efforts and you already know that its not good enough. we are friendly, honest and hardworking people but we hate to be intimidated simple i hope i answered SOME of your questions? proudly from the erosion ravaged anambra state 42 Likes 5 Shares |

realjoker: Because Igbo communities are places where competition is the order of the day, everything done on merit with no consideration for quota system. Owing to the aforesaid, Nigerians especially those from the tribes that are afraid of competition can not survive in Igboland as they can not compete with native Igbos. Note that Igbos still go to other parts of Nigeria, compete and beat the locals which led the late Sardauna to say that if you employ an Igbo man as a labourer in a camp, within one year he'll emerge as the foreman in the same camp. 65 Likes 2 Shares |

I will not be drawn into an E-war neither will I be reduce myself to the level of a tribalistic bigot....but op I have something to say ,,,have you been to all the eastern towns ,?? have you been to Enugu,IMO ,,Abia,,ebonyi ,, ,havent you heard of hausa communities in okigwe ,enugu,, nd some part of abia,,,,for someone to make such allegations you got to have evidence to back it up,o,r is this obviously wrong assumption due to your observations at Onitsha??,something I can't counter because ve not lived there ...to me misinformation is a cardinal sin 21 Likes 3 Shares |

@OP.. u don't want fanatics but ur write up has loads of Igbo hate hidden in between.. Well to answer you, igbos re known for their entrepreneurial Prowess, that is why they re everywhere. Igbo towns thrive on Business so how would another tribe come to igbo land to compete with people who re naturally blessed in what they do.. The few yoruba guyz I see in my village/town is because of the industries(Breweries) around.. Sure if the east is allowed to own their own Sea Port nd major Industrialization cutting across most eastern state u would certainly see more of other tribes. 25 Likes 1 Share |

Tygg:please dont see this question as tribal driven motive, as on the point you raised, we dont have to keep living in denial or keep on hallucinating what is not factual,,,, it is no news that there is least concentration of non indigene or non native in SE zone compare to other zone in Nigeria, this baffle me most of the times and that is the motive behind this question, and only salient and substantial contributions are welcome. As I earlier stated in the original post tribalist bigot are not welcome. 1 Like |

realjoker: It is simple ..the outsider just can't compete with the igbo ...OK lets assume that the Yoruba man wants to open a shop in Aba to sew will he compete with those hit Aba boys OK let's assume that the ijaw wants to sell fish ..will he compete with the rivers igbo man or riverine anambra man Igbo land is open to business and we still have strangers like hausa and suya business with forex while Yoruba are into agbo herbs and some taxi business the efiks are into cooking It's just division of labor If u can compete come over 13 Likes |

I understand you perfectly, but you do not need a seaport in the east now, or better still I'd say, Nigeria cannot afford to give SE a seaport at this point in time. why? it would cost too too much to build a seaport in the east because in other for the seaport to be viable then a lot of dredging has to be done. The cost of the dredging may be double or triple the amount of building the same seaport in the SS. Projects ? Yes! The govt should as a matter of necessity, look into the coal sector. That sector needs to be revitalized as it would help create jobs for the unemployed youth. Once this commences, businesses in the SE will begin to thrive and more and more non-igbos would be inclined towards the east. Job creation should be prioritize d by building good industries there. Everything will fall into place when this happens. iamkeyz: |

Is it not same with Southwest? Abeokuta, Ibadan, Oshogbo, Akure, Owo, Ogbomoso, Ilesha, Oyo, Ado Ekiti etc. are just Yoruba towns with almost everything Yoruba. Lagos cannot be counted as a Yoruba city per se as it developed as a national centre. 16 Likes |

OP, there are Yoruba, Hausa and other non-Igbo tribal communities in Igboland. Click the link to see a randomly selected news about them http://www.dailytrust.com.ng/sunday/index.php/feature/15832-ama-hausa-a-peaceful-northern-community-in-owerri-for-decades While growing up, almost all the suya Joints, cobblers and watch repairers I saw in Igboland were Hausas. We have "Amausa" joints everywhere in the East. Egbe omo oduduwa groups are many in each SE state. 8 Likes 2 Shares |
