Ogbaruoigwe1: Typically speaking if you are using the g-mail application, the sender IP address will be Google-based in Mountain View, California. However, if you are using another app, then your carrier (e.g. MTN, Airtel, etc) will show up with a public IP address assigned to you from your respective carrier/ISP. Let me know if you have any other questions. |

Ogbaruoigwe1: Private IP addresses are local only most of the time they are 10.X.X.X or 172.16.X.X or 192.168.X.X. Your private IP address will never be shown when you are online or when you send an e-mail. It will always be the IP address of your respective ISP (your carrier like Airtel, MTN, etc.). |

crotonite: Though I have never seen a /3 subnet mask IP address assignment, it just means that you have 3 network bits and 29 host bits so this means in binary: 11100000.00000000.00000000.00000000 which in decimal is the equivalent of a subnet mask of 224.0.0.0 which means you have IP address space for 536,870,910 hosts. Never have I seen a private IP address assignment like that. A 172.16.X.X IP address assignment can not accommodate for that many hosts. Is that what you wanted to know? |

baba11: Yah due to NAT (PAT which is Port Address Translation) mainly. |
