AugustineAgain: The SAAF will be using various sensors throughout the country to compile the radar picture. As the SAAF will be deploying mobile radar units to only the inland soccer venues, the SA Navy will deploy their frigates to the coastal venues, being Cape Town, Durban and Port Elizabeth. [b]Gagiano says that the SAAF will “utilise the radar pictures from the navy ships – via Link ZA – for the total air picture around the stadiums close to the coast.” "So all those sensors contribute to a recognised air picture and Gripen is one part of it, the ship radar is one part of it, our mobile radars, static radar, all these sensors are part and parcel of the input into one recognised air picture.” http://www.defenceweb.co.za/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=6534 1 Like |

jln115: Liar !! Fraud !! "Saab has a long experience in development of radars for fighter aircraft. PS-05/A for the Gripen aircraft has been in service since 1992. At present, the Gripen with PS-05/A operates in several countries. Reference customers include the air forces of Sweden, South Africa, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Thailand." http://saab.com/air/sensor-systems/fighter-radar/ps-05-a/ Your air force Gripen flies with an obsolete 25 year old radar confirmed by SAAB that sold the radar to you !!! JF-17 has a year 2005 modern radar with 135 km range, a more modern radar than SAAF Gripen . |

jln115: The above weblink says NOTHING about South African Gripen radar, it only talks about 2015 uogrades which SAAF DOES NOT HAVE on your obsolescent Gripen jets with obsolete 25 year old radar. JF-17 Thunder flies with superior and modern year 2005 KLJ-7 radar with an even superior 135 km range. JF-17 beats Gripen, flat ! . |

AugustineAgain:Fvck!!!! Don't you ever read my posts? I never once said SAAF uses the PS/05 mk4... I said we use the mk 3 version that can track a 0.5m2 target at 120km, that means it can track a SU30 at over 150km. And I don't give a Fvck about your Junk Fighter since NAF does not have any!! |

DO YOU KNOW THAT THE JUNK FIGHTER CAN ONLY SHOOT 70-100 BVR RANGE, WHILE THE MIGHTY GRIPEN CAN SHOOT FROM 100-120KM BVR RANGE. JUNK FIGHTER RADAR CAN ONLY DETECT OBJECTS WITH RCS OF 5 SQUARE METER. OH WHAT A FAILURE AGAINST A GRIPEN!! 1 Like |

mzilakazi:Nonsense,no one has detailed schematics of the JF-17(except the chinese and pakistani ministries of defence); so most analysis about its operational capabilities are either speculative or incomplete. But from what we know, the JF-17 definitely has a BVR range of over 140km at maximum, which outpaces the gripen by more than 20-40km,and the advanced block is being fitted with AESA radar. JF-17 is by no means a rookie warplane,if it is,why then is it being offered to Argentina?,everyone knows the aerial power that can be fielded by the UK. |
Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 11:23am On Jan 10, 2016 |

AugustineAgain: So is that your own source? I am asking to allow me to destroy you with your own source and here I quote from your source: The detection range for targets with a radar cross-section of 5 square meters is stated to be ≥105 km (≥85 km in look-down mode). Surface sea targets can be detected at up to 135 km 1.Now see here when it comes to radar search there is a difference between hard ground targets and sea surfac targets. Do that research. 2. JLF-7 radar fitted to the Junk Fighter can detect targets with radar cross section (RCS) of 5 square meters at >/=105 km. Now, Gripen has an RCS of 0.1square meter, almost has stealth capabilities. That means Gripen will remain undetected on the JF-17 avionics until to about less than 20 KM. That will be a lot risky especially when Gripen is armed with a BVR weapons. I hope you can now see why is the Junk Fighter weak. 2 Likes |

FighterPilot: 1. There is no difference, radars capture targets by object SIZE not by location on ground or sea. Do that research. 2. ⚫ Gripen does NOT have radar cross section RCS of 0.1 m2, show us SAAB source to prove that, show us now ! Liar ! Fraud ! ⚫ Also show us proof that JF-17 radar cannot detect a Gripen until the Gripen is less than 20 km away, show us a source to prove this lie ! ⚫ RCS of 0.1 m2 is for the size of a human being ! So is Gripen jet as small as a man ! Plus Gripen is NOT listed as stealth or near stealth jet anywhere in the world, it has all it's hardpoints hanging outside, all weapons carried outside, fuel drop tanks carried outside, and all that creates rough contour shapes for radar waves to hit and reflect back to source thus detecting the Gripen, and the Gripen has NO stealth paint ! ⚫ What da fvck ! Gripen jet is NOT a stealth or stealthy jet fighter....and it's smoking engine is like MiG-29...makes it easy for JF-17 missiles to pursue the heat and thick black smoke thermal-infra red emmission oozing out massively and even visibly from the Gripen's smoking engine ! . |
