We will initiate policies to ensure that Nigerians are free to live and work in any part of the country by removing state of origin, tribe, ethnic and religious affiliations and replace those with state of residence.

even if it is removed it wouldn't stop any thing because most of our surnames are tribal names!

But why is there so much height difference between presido and his vice?

Perfect! Just perfect!

As much as I support this, Nigeria is too fragile for this!... Our various ethnic groups can't even stand each other... how do they hope to make it work?

Cos this means A Northerner can go become a governor in the east, an easterner in the west, A westerner in the north and so on!

Tribalism will so increase cos peoples will now have this zeal to look out for their tribesmen if they feel they are being Dominated "in their own land"!

The keyword here is #VoteChange

We are waiting for the change we voted for.

Which country in the world do you know of that does not have state of origin?

And why are we hearing this in the middle of some state elections?

Why was it not included in any of the new year message?

Again the keyword is vote APC.

State of origin is state of origin and state of birth is state of birth. But in the eyes of the law, should anybody with a residency permit have equal rights? I need suggestions that says this law will not help us advance.... No sentiment. It seems to be working for every other progressive nation. Why cant it work here? Being Tribal to me may not be bad, but once it comes to advancing and developing don't you think we need others that cut across race, tribe and religion? I just need reason. Will this law set us back or forward?

Oga mi read my post again! I very much support this...

But Nigeria has more than 250 tribes unlike those progressive nations and those tribes have a long history of animosity against each other.

Believe me bro, this move's gonna have its advantages and Disadvantages and one of the later's will be increased tribalism and tribal-inspired clashes!

Please please please let's do this already.

I'd rather vote for individuals who have the integrity and will to lead regardless of their tribal affiliations, who know they're being judged on the basis of their performance and not because they're my so called distant relatives. Especially when I've no direct benefit of having them occupy political positions.

The other side of the coin is that capitalism will probably take over from the status quo in influencing the political terrain. However, I will welcome a healthy competition whole heartedly than the current state of affairs where some ethnic godfathers hold all the cards.

I don't see the practicability of this: There is too much ethnicity in the country. Even if it's implemented, those bent on discriminating against people will always detect people by their names.

It's a first step. But at least one cannot be victimized legally. The truth is, no country can be prosperous without being a nation. We are too divided and the system isn't helping. There is no developed nation that does this state of origin thing. Most developing nation have learnt and thrown away is archaic practice ( Brazil China turkey etc) So anything required to bring us together is welcomed. If we can't do this, then we can do it the UAE way or the UKs way.

I hope our dear VP realizes that he will save himself a lot of time and respect by participating in finding solutions to the present state of the economy rather than delve into trivial issues such as indigene or residence rights with serious potential consequences that wont go down well with everybody. As a learned individual, he should sure know by now that such proposition wont fly 'cos I see NO concrete reason why I must share the same right with one bloody & homeless stranger without ties to my lineage.

THE SAME WAY A MAN IS FREE TO CHOOSE WHERE HE COMES FROM IS ALSO THE SAME WAY THE PEOPLE THERE ARE FREE TO REJECT HIM AS A PART OF THEIR COMMUNITY. This shouldnt be hard to grasp Sir, VP Osinbajo, or is it? .

Moreover, the success of a nation depends on the commitment of the people to DO THINGS THE RIGHT WAY, not on some laws that gives some indigenes and foreigners same rights.!!

Am I the only blind person here or what exactly?

I hope the mods would be sensible enough to realize this statement was made by Prof Yemi Osinbajo in 2015, January to be precise, while deceiving Nigerians with their numerous promises of CHANGE.

I repeat, this is a useless thread, and its purpose have long been defeated when GEJ lost. APC and Buhari would deny this statement when confronted.

Let's learn to read well before posting. OP take NOTE! Creating useless threads over a statement made by a twitter user in January 2015 will not help you.

It can only work in paper. The name of a person will always tell where he is from.
