UmmTwins2 I also think it's colic, does his tummy swell? Ds also does that when sucking but after administering infacol it all stopped. Does your baby have a big navel?
Hafsat24 I noticed pregnacare breastfeeding helped me and when taking tea or pap put enough milk and Milo in the tea while for the pap put plenty milk. For the weight lemme share my story
Ds was 2.3kg at birth and at 3 days immunization he weighed 2.0kg but when we went for 6 weeks immunization his weight had reached 5.0kg. I will suggest you just concentrate on feeding him for now
10x. No, his navel isn't big n his tummy doesn't swell except that he likes to suck all d time lol. Bt Alhamdulillah he's been fine today.

And I need urgent help on this too, pls; my baby is 3 months old, right now he's wiggling n writhing like he's in serious pain even as he's sucking. It almost gets me in tears whenever it starts like dat n we don't av a pediatrician yet. It's been going on for sm days now n I didn't change anything in his normal routine; he's on breastmilk solely but I give him a bottle of formula at nite. Pls help me I, what do I do? It's urgent. TIA[/quote
its definitely colic. try burping between feeds so that the trapped gas can escape, also make sure he laches well. after feeding try the bicycle movement by laying him on his back and holding his 2 legs as if he is riding a bicycle. lastly infacol works wonders too

@tobiaboG, wean over a space of one month. Start with cutting down on his daytime till you are only breastfeeding at night. Then gradually reduce frequency of night bf till you stop. You will have to feed your lo with cereal well at night say around 10 to 11pm so that he can sleep through. All d best

@ummtwins2, got mine for 1800

Please I'm not a mother. I'm a new father. please I want to know if it is ok breastfeeding a baby while lying down. What are the dangers. What are your advice.
The baby just turned a month yesterday (Friday) and he practically sucks everytime. Now trouble is he doesn't sleep unless he has a teat in his mouth. Unless this, he keeps everybody up all night, but his mum now indulges him by sticking one breast in his mouth which cutting some sleep. This gives us a bit of a reprieve
But
I'm scared if this is a correct practice or otherwise. Please your advice is needed asap.
Bless you

I have always fed my baby this way and I have had absolutely no issues.

I support myself with pillows, I place him on a flat pillow, bring my breastttt to his mouth and he sucks away and I'm able to rest/sleep. Happy baby, happy mum smiley

This method is far better than sitting down and then dozing away and accidentally dropping the child or the child slips from the hands (believe me, it happens).

Breastfeeding is HARD WORK. It involves a lot of body muscles. Neck, hands, Shoulders, fingers, etc so let your wife adopt a most comfortable breastfeeding position that suits her and your baby.

There are implications and if she is a heavy sleeper, its a No.
- use your arm to support baby's head so that it is slightly elevated.
- make sure both mother and child are facing each other ie lying on their sides.
- b00bs must not cover baby's nose.
- pull out b00bs when baby is done. Dont leave it and nod off.
- be alert (just as you should be when seated)
The implications;
- All the tubes in ear, mouth, nose for now are very short and soooo connected. If the head is not elevated, dont be surprised to see the milk flowing right out of the nose.
-just as Mzdemmie said, there is risk of ear infection.
- the b00bies may suffocate the baby.

The choice is yours grin

Get aptamil.

It's the best breast milk substitute in the market. Keep breastfeeding him and supplementing with aptamil Until your flow improves and the you can stop or reduce his formula intake.

Relax dear. You need to be relaxed and calm as this will help in improving your milk flow. It was when I took things easy and ate really well (all sorts of fruits and endless cups of thick milo grin) that my milk began to flow and even leak seriously.

If you can withstand the taste of pap, take lots of it - many times a day. It helps.

lol @helovesme, i know i need to relax because i am seriously freaking out. I cant help it though when i look at the milk an expressing and its less than 60ml. I cant stand the taste of pap but i take it and drink tea, maybe i should drink more tea and pap. Intend to buy fenugreek cos i saw alot of good reviews online, i would stop formula when my flow increaes though just pray its really soon. Thanks loads.

Poor baby! I'd prefer orthodox because they will be able to show you xrays and explain in great detail the situation and carry you along in the process. I'm not sure the traditional people will be able to say in full detail. My other fear is sometimes the traditional people add some fetish meme to the treatment me I nor dey for such!
