They are both important. But u can have one without having the other. If I had to choose between the two I'd choose fruit. 2 people with gifts of the spirit can have a miserable marriage but 2 people with the fruit of the Spirit will make their marriage work. To develop fruit takes some effort but gifts are gifts. U don't have to merit them. They are given as the Spirit wills. So u can have a very immature christian walking in the gifts of the Spirit. He will be amazing to have as a Pastor but difficult to live with as a husband. A person with fruit has had his mind renewed and his character shaped. He's therefore a better person.

P.S. Those gifts are amazing to have as Christianity will be limited and boring without them.

If nothing is wrong then. A true born again guy would have both, since the ability for both comes with the power of the holy spirit. Remember peter on day of pentecost. I good orator can claim to have the gift of the scripture. But if its from God then the fruits of the spirit must be manifest. Beacuse when the holy spirit comes to a person he comes with his fruits and gifts.

The Fruits (Gal.5:22-23) are actually the unique characteristic traits of Christ. They are what defines His Life - His Character (or Personality if you would)

They are called Fruits because; when a seed is planted, nurtured and well cared after, it grows to a tree and gives Fruits. So, in like manner, the Fruits are not per se Fruits, but, rather; they are "seeds" implanted in your spirit the day you accepted the Life of Christ. And just as you have to nurture and care for the natural seeds, you also have to do the same for the spiritual seeds in your spirit in order for them to produce Fruits of Christ. Fruits visible enough for people to see, and attest to that you are Christ-like!

If most Christians understood this, they would begin to really work on themselves rather than making silly prayers for God give them patience etc, which were given them from spiritual birth! It will help also help them know how best to develop their personality and attract the right spouses because; like begats like!


On the question of the Gift:
1 Cor 12 is the best place to be on this topic. However, chapter 14 also is.

The Gifts of the Spirit are NOT talents, as many are led to believe; no! They are the Promise God made to Abraham (Gal. 3:29).

These Gifts only work with the Fruits, and not otherwise. For each Fruit is a Gift. The more you develop say for instance, fruit (or seed) of love; the Gift of the Word Wisdom will be activated by the Spirit for insights into events. Now, Wisdom is not what you all know it to be. Wisdom is different from Knowledge! Though both are both forms of knowledge, however, one deals on the future while the latter is limited to past or present events. (No time to explain).

So, the one seeking to be connected to their predestined spouse should strive to develop the Fruits first! It will certainly cause the Spirit to activate the Gifts in you, causing you exceptional spirited lifestyle, to discern things you never thought a Christian could do. This is what it means to be a spirit filled Christian. The activation of your Gifts is where your true Christian journey begins.
