I don't understand how you arrived at this post of yours.
A 4matic badge has got nothing to do with engine, the badge simply means it's an all wheel drive.
Kompressor was the older nomenclature now known as a turbo charged engine.
A particular Benz trim could be turbocharged and 4matic at the same time infact most recent trims are now 4matic and you'll hardly get a Benz without a turbo charged engine. They now come with double turbo chargers sef.
How you arrived at your conclusion is still beyond me.

I'm still waiting to know how you concluded the best Benz are the base variants?
And where you got the info that some base variants don't come with 4matic or turbo as standard.

@op, if you are considering fuel consumption, then you should be looking at a 4cylinder engine, then what year are you considering?
Mind u 4matic is good for traction, they provide the traction of an SUV (crossover) they are only short on ground clearance when compared to SUVs.
