I don't think they underpowered them that much, those guys were good, but it was still better than the gaiden, they really underpowered them there. But at least they showed us Sasuke and Narutos combination can beat anybody and stronger than the other kages combined.

Dont think they retained all the powers they had during the war.

God save u man... I thought u would say he is definitely from one particular clan. The thing is jiraiya's clan wasn't mentioned in any where in naruto so mayb he is just one lucky asshole without a clan but survived the ninja war and earned a place of being one of the best in konoha or his clan was deliberately hidden from all of us

I'd say Jiraiya was probably a distant relative of the senju clan or a refugee. I lean towards towards the former coz he'd have to be pretty connected to land a sensei like the 3rd hokage...
