Yesterday, like thousands of GTBank current account customers, I woke up to an unwelcome, ill-timed gift which arrived in this format: Source: http://www.mrpepe.com/banking/how-to-complain-to-the-cbn-about-unethical-bank-charges/ 29 Likes 9 Shares |

The banks are regulated by CBN and once you threaten them and show you know your rights, they will refund the money! I got N1,872 unauthorised charges back last year. Not much, but it's something... 8 Likes |

But you have to show proof that it is unauthorized charges and the bank has to clear the air on that before you send in your complaint, so that many people will not just start taking knee jerk reactions and send in complaints when they have not talked with the bank on what transpired in their accounts. If the bank does not give you a comfortable explanation (which they will surely try to do) then you can send in your complaint. 1 Like 1 Share |

I was at Zenith bank today and I was charged N200 for using the transfer form. That has started since the beginning of this year without prior information. The encouraged us to go cashless by doing more of transfers, and now they are charging money for transfer form. Soon they will be charging for deposit slip. God help us in Nigeria with all these vultures always wanting to exploit the masses. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

I was going to write on this. I contacted my bank (Ecobank) about unauthorised deductions from my account. They kept saying things like they will look at it. This has been on since probably around 2014. Anytime I remember and I am free, I send them a mail. They replied me referring me to the CBN guidelines for fees. I went to CBN website and downloaded and read the guidelines and the fees were not there so I replied them: Good morning, I have read through the Revised Guide to Bank Charges released by the Central Bank in 2013 and there is no fee as “access fee” prescribed by the CBN (refer to section 10 of the guide). Please kindly refund all illegal and unauthorised deductions made from my account to date as you have been unable to offer a reasonable explanation as to why these deductions are made and its legality. Thank you. So recently they replied me with the mail below: Dear Sir, We acknowledge receipt of your mail. Kindly be informed that your account has been exempted from such deductions. We sincerely apologize for any inconveniences this experience might have caused. Should you require further clarification, please call our 24/7 contact Centre number on (234) 700 500 0000 , (234) 800 326 2265 or Email: ENGContactcentre@ecobank.com They haven’t refunded me. But I will send them a mail again. I will soon request for a refund. 11 Likes |

GTB is rubbish when it comes to this, they did that to me in August and I switched to First Bank immediately, i sometimes have network with issues with First Bank but i prefer that to unauthorized transfer from my saving to current , its my money and i deserve some respect! the useless bank manager said he did it to enable him deduct charges from my current account, and now that i have opened new saving account with first bank, he should go there and deduct the charges! ode !! 2 Likes |

Yeah I think this is becoming crazy. ZENITH BANK is just the worst. I was charged 2,772+105 all to transfer less than a million naira. I was also charged N210 being payment for the teller. This is ridiculous is like these banks just do whatever they like and impose whatever fee they like. anyways am done with ZENITH as it is the worst bank on earth. #LeavethrashforZENITHBANK 3 Likes |

This has happened and still happening to many customers including me but do we have enough resource to launch this complain? CBN should do the right thing by prosecuting any bank doing jus that. |

First of all, i received the Gens charge too. It is done at intervals of two months throughout a year and its a service charge for Electronic notification system.Gtb(ens). Now what is Gens? Simply any notification as regards your account esp OTP codes i.e ifyu use ur atm for online transaction et all. GTB is the best as far as am concerned save for their crowded bank halls and high forex exchange rate. Their service is excellent. So OP, I'm not justifying their actions in anyway, but please don't create threads when you donno sth in Toto. Thank you. GTB customer |

Bammydele83: Get your details right, the transfer form charge started yesterday and not since beginning of the year, I believe they also inform the customer for approval before such transfer is done. Then also current account customers are encouraged to use their cheques for transactions to avoid the charge. 2 Likes 1 Share |
