Rooting gives you full control of your ROM. Those that don't understand the purpose and benefits of rooting should abstain from it.

It helps to read up a bit if you are not familiar with super su privileges.. I rooted my phone so i can use applications that require root access, greenify and Xposed.. If you don't have a reason, don't do it...

From my own end, root permission in an android phone means you actually "own" the phone.

If you used a symbian phone in the past(which required hacking) then you'll understand that using an unrooted phone is virtually impossible for a power user.

Rooting is the best cure for your lagging phone, automatic download, hotness etc.
Your phone is simply infected with Ghost Push virus AKA Monkey Test virus.

Rooting extend more functionality of apps. You do not for Rooting sake. Root because an app you desperately need requires Rooting to enhance its function.

Some root to control network access ( Firewall)
Others root to take perfect backup.
People root to get rid of bloatware for reduction of lag.
I rooted for tens of reasons.

I only root when necessary, not for anything but just to install the latest rom when oem don't seem to be pushing them. I have my htc one m7 rooted but only because I have lollipop running on it, nothing more. I don't do xposed or any other tweaking. Lg g3 is running lollipop, not rooted. And I don't see any reason to root my galaxy s6. Though I've been tempted to root it since I've seen videos of marshmallow beta running on it. But f**ck it, I'll wait for the official update. I know they won't update it officially until galaxy s7 is out probably in March. I can wait.. It is not a huge update anyway.

Rooting is good if u know what u are doing.. But it is bad when it becomes addictive. I almost ruined my m7 when I rooted it, it got bricked trying to flash a custom rom. It took me 18 hours of research to get it back on, I didn't eat for a whole day trying to get my phone back on. I also bricked my g3 trying to flash a rom... I was lucky LG call centre fixed the phone for free. My advice? Stay away from rooting unless it is absolutely Necessary eg when u need to change imei for people that tweak, and don't get addicted to flashing roms.

I rooted for 2 reasons. 3 actually.

1. I was switching to a new device. Titanium backup helped me take a perfect backup of the old device.

2. I updated my firmware. Sweet.

3. I hate limitations such as not being able to use certain apps because they need root access. I'll never have to worry about that now.

Plus being able to use Lucky Patcher, deleting bloatware.

Don't root if you don't know how. But if you're a power user have fun. All phones can be used without rooting so it's not for everyone. wink

Rooting does not in any way harm your phone it only enables more user control and flexibility, using apps like i font,x pose, hitlar without core knowledge of how it works actually destroy a phone.

By rooting your phone, you are only exposing yourself to countless security breach. Rooting your phone cos you want beautiful UI is stupidity.

Those saying "rooting your phone means you actually owns it" are deluded. Your apps own your phone when rooted. There's no limit to an application access on a rooted phone.

I wonder how you can enjoy and android without rooting? even in Google play you still find many apps that require root access which means even Google certifies rooting of device.
Re: Dont Root Ur Phone ,from Experience by Deblow: 8:03am On Jan 13, 2016
Diverse reasons advanced for rooting /not rooting. Quite interesting! Methinks rooting, as far as a concerned should be done for and on purpose, not for the sake of rooting. I rooted almost all my phones purposely to enhance their functionality but it doesn't go beyond that. I hate flashing custom roms to my phones so I don't do Xposed and the likes. I wait for official firmwares, download and flash same before taking the decision whether to root immediately or delay a bit. Glory be ato God I have never experienced anything terrible doing these. The bottomline like some pple have said is, no ur limitations, don't get addicted to rooting and do it not for no purpose. Period!

Let see

Well for me, I rooted ma fone for the apps:

Xplore
File explorer
Netquin antivirus
Mobile uncle
Link2SD
Lucky Patcher
and ROM flashing(though haven't flashed yet)

For example, using Xplore or file explorer app, I could move any song into system memory (not internal o) to be ma ringtone. That means even though you 4mat the fone, that song would still be there.

But seriously, don't root ur phone cos others are doing it.

The dark sides I've seen so far:

Keep pad dely to respond
At times, contact load slowly
Greenify crushed ma fone, rebooting it once ma network was on. Had to reformat, and never to use greenify again.

For example...

Can u delete your ringtones, or message tones?
Nope u can't. But with root access you can.

Can u fake the IMEI no of ur fone? Nope you can't unless with root access. IMEI to a fone is DNA to a human being or number to a sim card. This IMEI change is what gurus use to make Android look like BlackBerry to ISPs
