@ mrsnja: With the level of your travel history I don't think you would encounter any problem securing Canadian visa, but don't go through your daughter, Just go with the invitation as if you only visiting your relatives and u have the Invitation, About your bank statement, I don't think you need a large statement, with your travel history with 600k you're good to go, just prove some little tie back home, like showing ur coming back to something, i am sure u wud get it . Goodluck

Canadians don't work like that.

Good Luck

My piece of advice, apply as u going to settle your daughter, cic know your daughter is going to school and when applying say u accompanying your daughter to school to help her settle down
Ma, get a letter from work saying u are accompanying your daughter to school and they are aware
Employment letter
Daughter study permit
When applying there is a question of are u accompanying someone who just recently got approved of visa your answer is yes
There is high chances of you getting a visa with your daughter study permit than a relative invitation
School start Jan 1st week so put like Jan 3 u will be surprised how fast you get the visa
Applied for sister accompanying mum for visiting to canada Nov 4 or 3 visa out Nov 23 note travel date was Dec 18.
Use online to could be quick at times
Parent doesn't usually have problem getting visa as along has kids are here or on their way

You are right on your analysis but I can't bet on how soon the visa is approved.

Good Luck

Hello all. How true is it that Canadian embassy does not give visa to people without travel history. Hubby and I plan to travel next year for a holiday during our annual leave. We will also use the opportunity to attend the graduation ceremony of his younger sister. What are our chances of being given visa under the following circumstances;
1. We hope to be away for two weeks.
2. We have two kids but won't be going with them
3. We both work here in Nigeria
4. We hope to get a letter from his younger sister inviting us to her graduation ceremony.
5. Our passports are fresh. We have never travelled out before.
What is our chance of being given the visa and how many entries/how long may be given us?

There is no problem with that. Yes they can be meticulous, but which embassy does not. You need to have enough money in your account thou, they are one mission's office that looks into it.

Good Luck

And why would that be, unless you violated your previous visa conditions

Hi everyone, I have a couple of questions to ask. I have a visiting visa (Business visitor) to canada, however I just got married and my wife is a student in canada since last year. She just went back last week and I wish to go join her. This is my question
1. Can I apply for dependent visa inside canada or must it be outside canada
2. Proof of maintenance for me, must the account be in my name or my wife's name. Or either?

Thanks so much for your anticipated response.

Question 1: No. You must apply from nigeria. Your visitors visa must be conciled without prejudice before issueing a new visa (dependant visa)

Question 2: it does not matter. Hence, you guys are married and can prove it, thats all that matters

Good Luck

Hi everyone, am kinda new here, I don't know how to post, or comment. Am tryna answer Pradisewoods question about a dependent visa.

I have never heard of that, but I know if your wife is a full time student in canada, then you are eligible to an open work permit. Only if she has a study permit that still has a time frame of 6 months and above. Then you will be given same time till her study permit expires.

Forgive me I have no idea what a business visa is or what rules are on it, but if you have the chance to enter canada and your wife is a student, then you can make your applications from within canada. And I will tell you from experience, its always best to apply from within canada.

About sponsorship, your wife can sponsor if she has a full time professional job, but if you say she is a student then I believe she works parttime. So she wont be able to, but you can put the money in her account or yours, its all the same.

They just need to see you have enough money to take care of yourself even if you don't get a job, cos an open work permit is not guarantee of a job.

I don't really know much about visa application, thats why am in here, am just a student tryna get my husband to join me here in canada.

Read more about student spousal visa on the cic page, I think thats where you heading
Hope this was helpful

Please all, I got a canadian visitor's visa valid for six months but I just got an admission from GBC in british columbia.
Can I go ahead to apply for my study visa? Are there any implications since I haven't used my visitors visa at all? Thanks for helping.

Hi livingseed,

There is no implication for that. If your study is just fir 6month and below, you will not be issued a study permit, which means even your visiting visa can be used for study if its a course of 6month and below.

I will advice you to travel to canada with your visiting visa and apply for a study permit from within canada. A study permit is not a visa stamped to your passport, its just a paper that will be sent to your mailing address.

Just make sure you have enough money to pay for your first year of study and living expense for one year.

Applications are quite easier when you are in canada. You can go through the online questionnaire found on the cic page, just put in your situations as it is and see for yourself. Make sure you indicate you have been granted entry to canada, and you have a letter of acceptance from a recognised institute in canada. You will be advised to apply for a study permit alone. But like I said, if you say you are already in canada the application form for within canada is different and more prioritized, which is why I said you should go to canada and make your application.

Hope this was helpful

Thanks so much for your response ma. I have actually got the business visitor visa before I met my wife or married her. My business visitor visa entitles me to travel to canada for business purposes only (like importing and exporting) but I am not entitled to work in canada with it and I can only stay for 6 months max. The visa expires in 2018. My wife is a full time students and her study visa also expires 2017. But now I will like to change the business visitor visa to dependent visa because I want to join my wife fully in Canada. So I don't know if I will be allowed to make my application inside canada or I must make it from Nigeria before travelling.
As for the maintenance fee, she's a student and not working. So do you insist I leave the maintenance fee money in my account or transfer it to hers.

Thanks so much ma

Hello tennisgal,

Thank you I do appreciate. Yes, it was indeed helpful. My study program is 1yr pgc.

After my pgc study in Canada, I won't be permitted to work with my certificate or apply for an Msc there but asked to return to Nigeria just because I came in with a visiting visa right?

Will find out more information on the cic page as advised before making a move. Am still in nig at the moment. Thanks so much once again.

With your TRV, you can only study in Canada for a program that is six months or less ... For your one 1yr pgc, you definitely need a study permit.
