APC Saddened As Gov. Wike Drops Charges Against 3 Notorious Armed Robbers

On  November 19th 2015 three [3] members of a notorious armed robbery gang operating in Port Harcourt Metropolis with formidable weaponry headed by one George, a native of Rumukunde Community in Emohua LGA of Rivers State were arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad [SARS] of the Rivers State Police Command.The suspects, Charles Emesiobi Nwaoepi, Goodnews Kejeh, Goodluck Wogbo, who subsequently made confessional statements, were arrested and several arms and ammunition found on them including one AK-47 No. 2770 belonging to the Nigeria Police, one AK-49 Rifle with butt No. 44150 belonging to the Nigerian Army and one K2 Rifle with No. 046484 belonging to the Nigeria Police with 44 rounds of 7.62mm and 55 rounds of 5.56mm live ammunition.

Investigations by the Nigeria Police reportedly revealed that the suspects killed officers of the Police and Nigerian Army before carting away their arms in various operations in the past. For example, it was discovered that on 14/10/2015 the notorious gang allegedly robbed Diamond Bank, Port Harcourt among other daredevil operations across the State.

According to their investigations, the Police stated that other criminal activities carried out by the gang were the murder in cold blood of several police and military personnel including one Lance Corporal Yohanna Kamuji and Corporal Bello Lazarus both attached to 20 Battalion of the Nigeria Army, Bori Camp, Port Harcourt. Army eye witnesses confirmed the suspects to be behind the killing of their deceased colleagues.

The APC is shocked that right from the day the suspects were arrested and two of them charged to court there had been intense pressure by officials of the Rivers State Government to have them released as the suspects are alleged to be the boys of a serving Government House Chief of Staff.

With the Wike government on its way out, the governor’s Attorney-General through the Director of Public Prosecution [DPP] has finally advised against further prosecution of the dangerous criminals who were responsible for the killing of many innocent citizens including members of the Nigeria Police and Nigerian Army. This is contained in a legal advice by the Director of Public Prosecution [DPP] advising that the charges against the 3 gang members be dropped while their case files have been returned to the Police.  

The Rivers State Chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, wishes to re-iterate that this singular act by the Rivers State Government goes to confirm, beyond any shadow of doubt, that the officials of government of Barr. Nyesom Wike are behind the spate of killings, kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery and other crimes that have bedevilled Rivers State since May 29, 2015.

The APC would like to draw the attention of the Inspector-General of Police [IGP], the Chief of Army Staff [CoAS] and the D-G, DSS to take notice of the great injustice this act by Governor Nyesom Wike will mean to those service personnel who have paid the supreme price and the families and survivors they left behind. Overall, the dropping of charges on these criminals will only embolden more criminals to kill and maim innocent people and residents of Rivers State.

The government has a right to grant pardon,but that should be after they have been properly tried, rehabilitated and signs of remorse and repentance seen in them. Anything outside that is an abuse of power. I hope this news is not rue and the rivers state government can come out with a statement on this.

The news was on Nigerian Info, 92. 3 FM this morning here in port Harcourt. Yes, Wike's govt is seriously promoting violence , criminality and thuggery in Rivers state. For example, check out how many known militants that are currently in d Rivers state house of Assembly b4 both d election tribunals and d court of Appeal sacked them. Again, nearly all d newly appointed caretaker chairmen in d 23 local govt council in Rivers state newly appointed by Wike are either leaders of one cult group, ex militant or even current militant. Just last week, a team of combined force of police and d Army stormed into Asari Tori local govt to arrest a serving local caretaker chairman, Soboma Jackrich aka Egberi papa where several arms and ammunitions were discovered in his house. This is a known militant and criminal in Rivers state. Wike prefers empowering and appointing criminals than good people in Rivers state.

[b]its only those that don't reside in PH that will see this news as propaganda. this gang have been terrorizing the state for a very long time now. violently killing and robbing people and always getting protection from the PDP lead government. their is also similar gang that was lead by a notorious criminal popularly known as Abacha who hails from wike's community around wimpey in mile 4. they were protected by the state government and they played a part in the violence that marred the last elections in the state. the whole PH went agog on the news of his death when the gang after robbing a bank were intercepted by supper charged mobile police assisted by SARS around Ikokwu mile 3. goodness me, this confrontation lead to a gun battle that lasted for over 30 minutes resulting to the death of the notorious gang leader including several others.

Tnx for this comment. I was going to mention abacha and his relationship with wike when I saw this. The jubilation that greeted abacha's death was a testament of his brutality.
