When the SW rejected PDP, the governors in SW made sure their state was developed which caused massive influx of the igbos into the region. Now that SE don't want APC why can't dey just shut up and instead put pressure on their "PDP governors" to help them develop the region. That alone is a campaign for 2019 on its own Selfishness is what is killing the Igbo's. 1 Like |

lawak: Listen, stop deceiving your self. No single individual made Igbos hate APC.From the onset, APC was a Yoruba/Northern affair. Most Igbos could see that APC was a movement designed to bring Buhari and Tinubu to power. The only reason Osibanjo became VP was because Nigerians kicked against a muslim/Muslim ticket. Do you think there would be any APC today if GEJ had been a Yoruba or Hausa man? It was apparent that APC was just a continuation of the age old alliance between the Northerners and Yorubas for the political subjugation of Nigeria. OBJ ran one of the worst Governments in Nigeria, did the Yorubas remember APC when OBJ was running against Buhari who now the "darling president" of Yorubas in 2003? Of course not, they actually voted him en mass for him to continue. It became apparent to all Igbos that in a choice between Buhari and GEJ, no right thinking Igbo man would vote Buhari. As an Igbo man, I have no regrets voting GEJ. I also want to add that the Igbos and their general dislike of Buhari is not something that started today. It started 50 years ago when Buhari, then a young Lieutenant in Lagos followed his fellow northern officers to engineer the massacre of over 300 Igbo soldiers in the counter coup of 1966. I wish Buhari and his Government well, but for now, the man and his party hasn't got the patronage or trust of most Igbos 1 Like |

Unfortunately, once a position is taken it takes millions of years to correct even when people hear the true version of events. The same way mosques preached against GEJ was the same way churches in the SW, where I stay, prayed in Night Vigils against Buhari. At least we are aware of the Winners issue. CDs were openly printed and handed to members and people along the Otta axis. Funny prayer points were raised in churches. For the Fashola issue, it is norm among the governors to return destitutes to their states of origin for the government to take care of them. Experience in Lagos showed that that have been housed in govt homes usually demanded to be released or taken home. At a point a riot broke out in one of the home for this reason. Fashola explained how he had several times engaged Peter Obi who decided not to act. Even Akpabio was involved in this practice. How come it never got to the news? How come no northern governor made it headlines? Akpabio didn't deny it during the senatorial screening of Fashola. Markets were demolished in Abia and Anambra but we didn't hear the Ohaneze say the governor is enemy of Ndigbo, a governor in the SW does same and it become a "They hate igbo" sing song. I think it simply a mindset. Reyginus: |

Re: How Peter Obi Killed APC In The East by Worblo: 12:37pm On Jan 13, 2016 |
I don't agree with this view. We have had several Works Ministers from the SE. Are we saying such ministers were marginalizing their people? APC cannot win the hearts of Igbo. It is born out of believed tribl composition of the APC. With the level of squandering of the common resources of the SE states by their governors have they abandoned PDP? Emphatic NO. Didn't Fashola call the 2nd Niger bridge & Lagos Ibadan as priority? Can they fund it without the budget passed? With all the appointments from the SE in the last dispensation should that not have influenced decisions in favour of the SE? Did that happen? The underlying fundamental here is that it appears the sons of the SE in government have deliberately held the region to ransom and continually pursued personal gratification at the expense of the people. All I wonder is why the people in the region have not held them to ransom and demanded goog governance through the kinds of massive protests we saw for Biafra movement. I am tempted to think the struggle for Biafra by the current proponents is all about the Oil in the Niger-Delta. The SS keep insisting they are not interested in Baiafra but somehow the proponents insist they are by including them in the map. So really, is the struggle about selfish ambition of a few using pure hearted individuals lied to about a course. chuksmad: 1 Like |

You mean street hawkers will have no homes? No brothers, guardian, family they could live with? Is it legal to Street Hawk in Lagos - isn't that an offense in itself? If being destitute was not the case should all SE Nigerians have been shipped to their states. So is it legal for the govt to keep people against their will? Deport? Isn't that a term used to sensationalize the story? Can you be deported within your country? Deport means "expel (a foreigner) from a country, typically on the grounds of illegal status or for having committed a crime." Was the case not taken to court? Was the outcome of the case not in favour of the Lagos State government. I think we should open our minds and not be led by sentiments when sensational stories break. I am yet to hear any sensation of the Akpabio story from the North oooo. Abi they are not Nigerians too? Reyginus: |

spartacusdove: Stop being mischievous. Self-determination has nothing to do with liking or hating APC. It's a people's inalienable right to forge a future for themselves. You and your ilks are being childish with your silly whinings and cursing up and down because Igbos choose to have a separate existence. Can you list the Yoruba governors that performed better than Chime Sullivan, Peter Obi or Chris Ngige vis-a-vis the available funds at their disposal? FYI, Igbo States are the least affected by the current dwindling crude oil earnings, largely due to the fact that their economy is not crude oil dependent. But not so with Yoruba States. You can see the reality in the shocking manner many of your States are in comatose with many of its civil servants surviving on the good gestures of concerned Nigerians. Fayose of Ekiti government had to send some of its citizens to the SE to learn a skill/trade in a bid to grow the economy of Ekiti State. Acknowledge the simple fact that Igbos fare better than most tribes even with virtually no federal government presence and investments. The Igbos have the highest concentration of middle-class citizens while squalor and penury pervade other enclaves. Refrain from spreading more lies and fabricating baseless falsehood to attempt to cover up the atrocious deeds of your Yoruba people. Yorubas and their ACN/APC party cried that they were marginalized in GEJ's goverment and they used every available media outfit to champion their campaign of calumny and hatred against GEJ during the build up to the 2015 elections. GEJ was magnanimous to zone the speaker position to Yorubas. But Tinubu and his cohorts colluded and sold out the speakership meant for SW to the NE. Instead of Yorubas channelling their energies to the development of SW States they used the media as usual to denigrate the office of the presidency. They called GEJ and his wife unprintable names and concocted lies and falsehood to tarnish the image of the presidency. Yorubas deployed every evil machinery to frustrate the fight against BH. That was Yoruba campaign for 2015. Nothing like infrastructural development of SW being used for campaign. Yorubas were over favoured for over 8 years with a highly corrupt Obasanjo regime. That regime created the likes Femi Otedola, Wale Tinubu, GLO Adenuga, Jimoh Ibrahim etc., exploding the numbers of Yoruba captains of industries. Here are a few past news of how Yorubas utilised their energies to heat up the polity during GEJ administration crying foul: http://thestreetjournal.org/2013/03/yorubas-in-europe-decry-jonathans-marginalization-of-the-south-west/ http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/02/now-were-the-marginalised-yoruba-elders/ http://www.naij.com/334439-jonathans-attempt-to-persuade-yoruba-too-late-afenifere.html http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/tunde-fagbenle/ugly-signs-of-yoruba-marginalisation.html http://ketekete.com/why-yoruba-will-never-support-goodluck-jonathan-in-2015/ http://www.osundefender.org/?p=145688 http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/tambuwal-elected-house-of-representatives-speaker/92761/ https://ogala./2011/06/06/aminu-ta Many of the achievements of the Yoruba tribe are largely due to the fact that they have been unjustly favoured by the lopsided arrangement in the polity. That's why a great number of Yorubas would prefer the status quo to remain. A number of Yorubas have used the unjust system to their advantage, looting the treasury with reckless abandon. Yoruba leaders wrecked this country and brought her to the present miserable state! Many Yorubas overtly or covertly support the evils been perpetrated in this country. Informed people are not deceived by Yoruba usual shouting, crying, weeping, wailing, yelling, cursing and making much noise on every available media. A legitimate agitation by a people for a simple referendum is no way a crime. Reeling out old time war tales with video clips and pictures to your satisfaction reeks of hypocrisy and only meant to divert attention from the crust of the matter to the subterranean. The federal government, after a couple of months of silence, voiced out by stating that the agitation for Biafra is legitimate. Marginalisation or not, performing governors and political appointees or not, self-determination remains an inalienable right of a people. Exclusively hyping on performance of selected politicians as the antidote to the quest of a people to self-determination at this critical moment is simply diversionary and mischievous to state the least. This argument seems to be predicated on the premise that other governors and politicians are doing excellently better than their SE counterparts. And that is totally false and amounts to a campaign of calumny. Moreover, the infallible truth is that the Nigerian system has been so designed to foist notorious crooks on the people and also frustrate credible people from performing. Strange bedfellows, with irreconcilable value systems that are at best suitable for the individual selves, are not meant to be together! The 102 years of existence attest to that verdict! No one has got the moral right to impose on another his/her self-centred way of reasoning. Victor Hugo once said "no army can stop an idea whose time has come" and that "one can resist the invasion of armies but not the invasion of ideas". Freedom seekers seek freedom until it's achieved. They don't allow others define them to suit their interest and narratives, or permit the oppressors and abusers of human rights to teach them, the oppressed what human rights are. Once beaten twice shy, they say. https://www.nairaland.com/2849947/uk-97-biafran-vote-favour 1 Like |

Sometimes I wonder the kind of idiotic and moroni.c threads that hit front page on Nairaland, what's the point of this stewpid article, when the op mentioned Igbos, which ibos in particular?, are we igbos not supposed to choose whomever we want to vote, what's is wrong for majority of southeasterners come out en mass and say that GEJ is their choice, are Igbos the only ethnic group that chose to vote for GEJ, even if sentiments is involved, SW and NW also played into it because their own brothers came out, sometimes I feel this APC of a party have nothing meaningful to offer Nigerians other than bring in tribal rubbish. The other time it was John oyegun that came out with his rubbish that Igbos put all their eggs in one basket, I voted PDP because I knew that APC had nothing to offer Nigerians, except for Zombies that believe in This scam called changed.. And as an igbo dude I refuse and reject any government that would dictate to me on how I live my life, the SW and the north may be comfortable with it but igbos are democratic and not slaves... zendy: You know, there is a danger that we as humans face which is that because we dislike the message, we reject it. You, the OP and I are saying the same thing but somehow maybe because people are sensitive about their tribe, they miss the message. The OP has a point, his point is don't be led astray by insincere leaders, think for yourselves. Your response shares the essence of what the Op said, so I scratch my head wondering why you disagree or think he has no point. Or are you saying because it happens everywhere in Africa, it's ok and we should carry on with the status quo? 1 Like |

funkyibodude:I like the way you canvassed your points though I don't accept some of your premises. The post is not about the democratic right of a people to vote for whomever they prefer in an election, rather, it is more about the consequences that's trail every decision we make in life. Every person has the right to form and propagate his or her opinion, no matter how degrading or disturbed it may sounds to others. And in this regard, the OP is right. For me, he rightly pointed out that the Igbos supported GEJ though there was no government presence in the southeast. Same Igbos are now chanting marginalization because a northerner is now in power. I'm an Igbo but I voted for the president because I see him as the better choice than GEJ. Your opinion could be correct though. |
