I don't understand, maybe someone should clear me, I changed the IMEI number of countless phones without rooting just mobile uncle tools so i wonder why guys here are saying that one of the pros of rooting is being able to change IMEI number.

don't say what u don't know.. I'm using a Samsung phone and it's rooted.. tho i bricked it d first time while trying to root it, but i flashed it and got it rooted again.. a guy said u needed root to change ur imei, well you don't! BTW, only mtk phones(eg tecno, gionee) allow changing of imei using software and you don't need root permission to do that

I'm surprised people are talking about rooting like this.

The only con I know about rooting is, it voids your warranty, aside that the Pros supercedes the con.

People that don't know much about it attributes every or any faults or anomaly on their phone to rooting. which is certainly not true

Those trying to convince them by giving points or what rooting does, give it a rest.

they have made the prejudice conclusion, I don't see any comments changing it

it's true when they say this "damnant quod non intellegunt" They condemn what they don't understand

my2kobo.

PS: Those that know the Pros of rooting, Enjoy your device. LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO WAIT FOR UPDATE

Rooting a phone is good, as long as you know what you are doing.

For starters, I am using a Tecno H6. And as we all know, Tecno will never update the phone to lollipop, let alone Marshmallow. Fortunately, I am currently running cyanogen 12.1 lollipop, thanks to rooting. If I hadn't rooted the phone, I will be permanently stuck on Kitkat.

This is just one of the other benefits, I have been enjoying from my rooted phone.

It helps to read up a bit if you are not familiar with super su privileges.. I rooted my phone so i can use applications that require root access, greenify and Xposed.. If you don't have a reason, don't do it...

I rooted mine cos of Fonts, that's a reason sheybi? : )

Rooting is only meant for those who knows what it is used for and the benefits derived from it.
You must know exactly what you are doing before you embark on gaining access to root. you dont just root for the sake of it.

That also depend on your type of Phone brand

Don't upgrade to Lollipop, its not compatible with Gionee P4, I have flash so many Lollipop even Marshmallow but its not worth it. Battery problem:

Try this Samsung Ace7 rom 4.4.4 , that's what I am using and its superb and the best Rom for P4.

For me
........
I can only risk to Root an MTK device.

Its a no go area for Samsung, HTC, LG and Some Huawei phones.

How do u guys use roms meant for other phones for another phone. I know some do work, after all cm nightlies do work, but most of the times it is not properly optimized and there are bugs. Damn I hate having bugs on phones.

is lwayslways bugs and loopholes but you need to know how to remove them and also know the one you can deal with if you can't.

Mostly CM rom always have issue of USSD.
I have tested more than 15-20 Roms on yhis P4 thanks to free browsing, before I settle for this, I always return to the stock rom but this Samsung really works well and I am happy with it.

The Samsung has no loopholes but just one bug which is
In file manager, Phone Memory show as Memory card and vice versa, that's all.

Battery is superb
Good Ram
Picture quality Good
Display crystal.

if rooted, search Google for Gionee p4 or Walton Primo Gh2 Recovery image,

Download it , its about 5.5Mb

Download Mobile uncle from okay store, Open it and click on Change Recovery Image, you will see the one you downloaded first.

Click on it and it will ask you to boot to Recovery, press OK and you done.

To back up , you will see back up and restore, use volume key to select and power to click

Backup and reboot,

To restore Press Power + Volume up, it will boot to Recovery select Restore and choose the one you save . it's hard to type though if you confused do let me know.

I hope it's for Gionee P4
