Qualification of what the company designates FZ275 LGR is now planned for the beginning of 2018, with initial deliveries to an undisclosed customer beginning in 2019. "Development [of the FZ275 LGR] is mainly completed. FZ expects the laser-guided rockets to be available as COTS [commercial off-the-shelf] in early 2019," an FZ spokesperson told IHS Jane's . SAAF maybe? This will work out much cheaper than arming the Rooivalk with conventional air-surface missiles, and will be excellent for COIN warfare! http://www.janes.com/article/57179/fz-set-finalise-development-of-new-2-75-in-laser-guided-rocket |

jln115:It will also be cost effective. As currently the choppers have to unleash salvos of rockets to silence stuff like anti-aircraft guns. It would also be execellent for semi-conventional and conventional against foes with limited air defence capabilities, as it allows the choppers to operate at NOE only popping up to deliver weapons. For infantry on the ground low flying choppers are confusing as you can't really tell which direction they're coming from. |

MikeCZAR: Lmfao!! ....... That's unfortunate. I find that secrecy thing to be funny, the secrecy somehow doesn't seem to defeat the enemy which it is intended for. |

Patchesagain: Kindly desist from derailing this thread. It has now emerged that as many as 5,000 Nigerian troops were deployed to Angola and that they saw action in various theatres across the then war-blighted country. Writing in an article entitled “MOSCOW’S NEXT TARGET IN AFRICA;Paying the Price for Angola“, Robert Moss clearly indicates that …. QUOTE: “The Nigerians are said to be heavily involved in Angola. Western intelligence sources report that Nigerian troops were present at battalion strength when the MPLA and the Cubans pushed south last year. According to UNITA sources in Paris, the Nigerian strength has since been reinforced. UNITA sources have tapes of radio intercepts showing that at least 5,000 Nigerian troops have been deployed in Angola. They are operating as far south as Mocamedes, and are also based in Lobito, Luanda and the eastern diamond mining town of Henrique de Carvalho. https://beegeagle./2010/12/12/nigerias-best-kept-military-secret-5000-troops-fought-in-angolas-first-civil-war/ 2 Likes |

Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 11:31am On Jan 15, 2016 |
africaken:the most likely scenario is A/S started firing at the somali camp, then KDF came to re-enforce the SNA only to be ambushed and then another attack done on the KDF camp while their defences were streched. Decided to stay inhouse today, really pissed off... I want payback right now, those guys should not live to see the next 24 hours 1 Like

denisfidha:from the photos i have seen ,it looks like an ambush because thats a road where bodies and Panhard AML are seen and then those photos look like they were taken by the locals(the poor quality of the images, alshabaab alway take high quality images to enhance their propaganda)then those two other photos look like explosions.most likely aerial attacks by kenya air force)we need to f@#$ alshabaab so badly they regret especially this moment they are fighting with ISIS in somalia 1 Like |

denisfidha: Kenyan Air Force needs proper attack Helos like the MI-35, your MDs are too light and cannot provide the required support vis-a-vis the intensity of the combat in Somalia. Infact the AU mission in somalia is in dire need of attack helos, had Ugandan MI-35s not crash into mountains, who knows. |

I am saddened by this attack. the firefight would have lasted a while, the air bombardment should have started during and not after the attack. in a theatre like that air support should be on 24 hr readiness. with the ability to arrive in support in 20 minutes max. if the AU plans right it is possible |
