murphyibiam15: Glad you see my point. When we said PMB should follow the rule of law, they said they rather he be a tyrant. Now Tompolo has also decided to be above the law, and the same blood-thirsty people want to start a war in the relatively peaceful ND. To me, Nigerians are now more involved than ever in the governance of this country (especially at the federal level). If PMB follows the rule of law, these looters and criminals will still be brought to book, or there will be a backlash from the public. For example, look at the stiff bail conditions from the Judiciary? And the judges had made it clear that the bail does not mean that they have been acquitted. Which means, they will still be tried when all the evidence have been compiled. So it is very surprising why PMB does not want to honor the decisions by the courts? So far, he has not given a compelling reason. This is worrying. I hope PMB does not intend to contest again in 2019. Because he cannot count on Nigerians to use democracy to give him power again and then insult us to our faces by flouting the constitution and the rule of law that oversees the process. I want PMB to succeed, but I cannot bring myself to accept his methods. Whatever is worth doing, is worth doing well/right. All the best mate! -Lord 2 Likes |

I'm not saying it will happen oh, but imagine a situation where, niger deltan's start real chaos and war against the government (SS), plus the boko haram case in the (NE), IPOB are armed and start their own wahala (SE), and shitte muslims armed (NW), plus other small small groups fighting for one thing or the other. With all the hate comments online from Nigerians that speaks volumes from d depth of their hearts. Plus with the alleged victimisation of the opposition party that has the capacity to sponsor and encourage all these factions. Can our military N.A cope with all these chaos? Can Nigeria cope? Can west africa cope? Will there be a country for PMB to dictate over? As a concerned citizen I'll advice everyone thread carefully and forge a path of peace and understanding. 2 Likes |

I beg who are this people fighting for, tompolo? I wonder how much he gives them, fools. They had better leave chevron alone before they cause their packing just like oduahan out of his greed to acquire shell hospital did not intervene to settle the issue amicably. Then shell left delta to imo. Governor okowa, call then to order before it escalates. |

This is the reason why I want oil prices to keep plummeting, after a their "oil" would no longer be so special... for starters, the 2016 budget does not depend on oil revenue. |

In as much I don't support bloodshed of any sort I belief buhari should slow down a little hhhhmmm mm. .....these guys in Niger Delta called militant they got the cash the connection the weapon the technical know how to wreck the system I'm saying this because couple of them are well known to me personally and their is no way fed govt will attack that region that other militant will not join Tompolo, they will join him I'm 100% sure of that. So can buhari and Tifnubu handle these: Boko Haram MEND Shiite or shit Biafra Fulani militia OPC brazing up Can you Mr buhari handle all these with your power hungry attitude Gragra.........is not the solution but wisdom. |

porshuch:In 1983 crude oil sold for $7 per barrel. Like every other commodity it fluctuates. Let US start drilling naaa....Truth is US can never go for crude export. Rather they are determined towards getting another source of power. The price of crude will go up sooner or later....mind you even at $10, Naija major FX will still be from crude.... |

Reporting live from Ogbomosho, Oyo State, Southwestern Nigeria. In this part of the nation, we are enjoying what is called pure tranquility. In the north, Book Haram dey butcher them day and night. In the east, its about Biafra, and now its about the Niger-Delta militants. If any man desires to live in peace and wanna close his eyes at night while sleeping, the southwest is the way. jascon1: My take is total connected to unfolding events, First of all be corrected in the insinuation that Tompolo looted, he does not have direct access to government funds and was not directly involved in the electioneering motion, neither is he sophisticated enough to serve as a laundering conduit for official with access to looted funds but a businessman and from what we gather from the media trials Tompolo is being chased over the matter of land which he sold to federal government at presumed exorbitant and unrealistic price and probably other huge contracts he may have handled but ask your self this pertinent questions first before you look at the said Tompolo outrageous patronage by government, is it out of place for government to patronize its citizens? or is it because it is tompolo and ijaw man that it appers too much fo one person? Remember how Dangote started, Abacha gave him the sole license to import SUGAR, SALT AND RICE for 170million Nigeria for more than 7 years (policy backed monopoly)nobody complained or is it ATIKU who is the sole concessioneer of the entire onne port complex which handles all oil related shipping logistics in Portharcout making billions monthly in revenue and giving government what they please or is it all the oil well in SS and south east dashed to hausa men who sell rights to operators for prices upwards of 1billion US dollars and still maintain their stake in the said oil wells and declare to government whatever they please? the list and examples are endless, In my thinking these are the real looters not this tompolo, All said if buhari needs to fight corruption do it from the root and obvious instances and not arrest and then begin to look for or build a case against perceived opponents. Now whether we like or not TOMPOLO is an Ijaw son of reckon and his following since his days of militancy has not diminished but rather has increased and become more sophisticated confronting him will generate the same storm type confronting Kanu has generated but more to this is that there will be sustained and punishing deprivation of nigeria from her only source of sustenance as it was in 2008 - 9 when daily oil export was a mere 180,000 bpd. FG must dialogue with Tompolo in a very civil tone otherwise what must be will be. I need not highlight the reality that a storm is already brewing the the polity. 1 Like |

abumeinben: I hear they have frozen his bank accounts in the country. But if he has (and I suspect he has) moved most of the monies to foreign accounts, then it is a lost cause for the FG. Unless they can prove that it is laundered money, which they cannot prove unless he has been taken to court and nailed for laundering charges, they cannot talk to the foreign banks/governments to release the money back. Kpata Kpata na another Abacha level go happen with the money trickling down in bits. In any case, made men like Tompolo place their money in hidden vaults and finance havens around the world like Switzerland, Cayman Islands, Bahamas, British Virgin Island... where no one apart from the account owner can take cash from the account (not even the US). Tompolo is one of the most powerful men in the ND region, so his people and associates will have to be heavily against him to give him up without a fight. Remember that the SS is not yet convinced of the intentions of PMB (coupled by his court actions and statements), so it would be hard to get his people to give him up (I'm not talking about his village people that are only concerned about the money, I'm talking about the other commanders in MEND, other militant groups, and the made men in the region)... It's a battle of individual interests. That is part of the quagmire. -Lord 1 Like |

I meant to write NOT entirely on oil revenue... unlike previous years where the budget was funded 90% by oil revenue, i think the 2016 budget plan says less than 40% of our expenses would be funded by oil revenue... I would try to find out the exact figure from one of those credible news/media websites and edit this comment later... EDIT: Check out this thread here - https://www.nairaland.com/2817862/breakdown-nigerias-2016-budget it shows the projected oil revenue and projected non-oil revenue. BuddhaPalm: |

joyraincatering: Thank God this is a faceless forum, For your information I have worked for and with ex militants, live and eat with them . You think the Nigeria military is just the Nigerian army. You will know there is a difference between someone who is willing to die and there is a difference between criminals stealing from their people and ready to sacrifice them. I maintain the restraining factor on the government side remains the innocent masses. |
