I am actually an economics graduate and I have got passion to teach and be a teacher at some stage in my life be it short or mid term...... But all in all entrepreneurship does it for me,because I see and envisage so many unexplored goldmine in the Nigerian economy if I can get the right platform, though the situation of things might be discouraging for enthusiastic youths like us,but persistence, perseverance and an undying passion to succeed would surely supersede whatever economical obstacle in the way. That I believe!!!

What is your definition of the right platform?

If you have the resources, I will advice you to enrol for the Aspiring Entrepreneur Programme of Fate Foundation. The 3 months course I did at Fate Foundation about 10 years ago, opened my eyes to opportunities and possibilities.

Can you also list some of the unexplored goldmines in Nigeria? I am looking at housing/real-estate, education/training,agriculture and waste management.

Yes waste management, although people say we should leave trash for LAWMA, we cannot allow LAWMA and its franchisees to continue making the money from Lagos trash.

Sir that wish of yours might take a little more than a century to become a reality simply because Nigeria tends to discover crude in other part of the country presently, though it has no major positive effect on our economy at present due to the astronomical drop in the value of crude oil .
But the fact is Nigeria is so blessed with both liquid and solid mineral resources that would make us weather the storm even with crude oil drying up or the market value reducing, if our leaders could get rid of there mental laziness and unrepentant greed while embracing the act of selfless service to the people then we can get to breathe a sigh of relief that there is a glimmer of hope in the long run.

We may not be able to exhaust our crude oil in the next 50 years, but the crude oil may become worthless in 50 years. What is the size of our Sovereign Wealth Fund, which ought to have been funded from income derived from our natural resources. Countries that 15% of our population have more than $500 billion in their SWF.

The greatest asset of any nation is in her human resources/capital, that is why no nation can develop beyond the cognitive potentials of her teachers/citizens.

We need to ask ourselves, how functional is the education in our country, what is the relationship between what we learn/teach in school with what the street/society needs, what is our attitude towards life-long education, what plans do we have as a nation for the next 50 years, in most cases success is not an accident/miracle but happens through deliberate plan, strategy, hard-work, persistence, patience and finally God factor or favour. But in this part of the world we always emphasize on the God factor or divine factor.

Our leaders are mentally lazy, unfortunately the young generation are learning fast from the older generation. Someone said God will not solve our problems in Nigeria, because he has equipped us with what we need to solve the problem which we have created for ourselves.

Like i said there are still goldmines in nigeria that are yet to be explored, personally to me i feel agriculture is more of a neglected goldmine than a yet to be explored one, real estate like you mentioned in your post is also a goldmine thats mostly capital intensive and with the elimination of the middle class in the nigerian class strata, the real estate market for now isn't going to be booming as expected simply because you are left with only two target market when the middle class is non-existent ,which is the uppper class and the lower class... Like we all see every day the upper class real estate market is already saturated ,places like abuja would give you an insight of what i mean... Most of the top notch houses in high brow areas there in the FCT hardly have people living in it and most have not been bought outrightly by those who can afford it,as for the lower class which needs more supply of low costs housing ,hardly do private investors look to invest in such ventures simply because the nigerian mortgage plan is not viable neither can the lower class afford to buy houses outrightly even if it is termed a lowcost building.
As for me i feel the IT world and technology industry is yet to be fully tapped into in the nigerian economy, there is still much ground to be covered and it is yet to be saturated, for those who have foresight and passion for IT ,they have envisaged it to be a potential goldmine in the making compared to what is being realised presently!!!

@ GoldenDr, teachers and the moderator, I am very sorry for derailing this thread. But since this a thread for job seekers, it will not be out place if we discuss some of the reasons why jobs are scarce and how we can create opportunities for ourselves.

Agriculture is a goldmine, but unfortunately the guys making a killing from this sector are Indians, Lebanese, South African etc. The majority shareholders of Olams, Chi Farms, Presco, Okomu just to mention a few are foreigners. These companies make billions of Naira as PAT every year. What type of training, support and structure does the average Nigerian farmer need in order to move his agric-business to the next level. A lawyer who invested in Okomu went home with dividend of over N100 million in 2014.

If you look at Abraham Maslow hierarchy of needs, we have feeding, shelter, clothing, self actualization, I am sorry i cannot remember the last one. Shelter or housing is an important human need, we currently have a deficit of over 18 million housing units in Nigeria. How many Nigerians are living in conducive environment. The high-end of the property market is currently saturated and over-priced, but we have a growth potential in the low-cost-housing sector. Housings units of between N2.5 million to N10 million are in high demand by the working class population in Nigeria. The real-estate sector is huge, we have the artisans, developers, builders, architects, surveyors, investors, marketers, buyers, lawyers, financiers, if governments and investors plan to build just 1 million housing units within 2 years, the multiplier effects of this investment will definitely create wealth and job opportunities for Nigerians.

Security is the last one bro. Not a diversion sir you are making alot of sense. Reason is because a soul or more may be inspired to look into some of the opportunities raise and tap into any of the aforementioned sectors. We all must understand that patience is a virtue we can afford to trade with. Before we lose temper, let's look inward. We will be patient enough to reflect, meditate and ruminate on the points. Who knows if someone is thinking and working in that direction and this is the master key for the person?
