Henry240: Questioning a statement is not de-railment. I was just curious because no legitimate sources cite your involvement. And, if this is true that would men your Army was involved in the Angolan Civil War not the Angolan Border War. |

africaken:countries like the US have been in places like this, they. got knocked down suffered, paid the price took a step back ,swallowed pride and admitted they screwed up and learned some hard lessons ..... Thats why americans pay so much attention to air support, med-evac, satelite tracking, spy planes.. If we are wise enough, this is a good time to take good advice, learn our lesson and make sure it never happens again. Not to sound oportunistic but after this, no one is gonna question military spending, the gvt has all the justification for any militart hardware acquisition, if DoD say they want a dedicated satelite to better protect troops, parliament isn't gonna red tape them like they usually do.... Its time we took a step futher and apreciate that its never gonna be the same anymore, we cant play softpowe without gaining some military upperhand anymore, we shiuld take resposibility on our own now for our own people, the countries vision2030 din't qiute put specifics about military, the army better have its own targets of what it wants to be when we become newly industrilized country, 2030 is not that far 1 Like |

africaken: Should have gotten the iKlwa variant* Anyway, good to see that they choose a vehical that was designed for Africans by Africans. Pity that the Rooikat is out of production... also a pity that the AMCIT turret and GI-30 does not fit on the Ratel. 1 Like

Patchesagain:Looks like we are selling of the rest of our Ratel, now that we are getting the new Badger!! I wouldn't mind if we sell/retire all our Ratel 20 , but we should definitely keep the Ratel 90, Ratel 81 , Ratel EAOS and Ratel ZT3 variants. |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 7:52pm On Jan 16, 2016 |
agaugust: I used to think they were some sort of enlarged variants of Proforce MkII's. However, i'm no longer so sure, seeing that Proforce exported their vehicles to an entirely different country. |

Henry240: Rwandan president visited Proforce factory. Rwandan police are now under UN in Bangui. Just trying to connect the dots... |
Re: African Militaries/ Security Services Strictly Photos Only And Videos Thread by Nobody: 8:17pm On Jan 16, 2016 |
agaugust: Sure....... Exactly My thoughts when i first saw the vehicle. However, i haven't yet seen an enlarged variant, the units sold to Lagos and Oyo states are both the sizes we are well aware of. |

Henry240:Upgrade. with the introduction of the Badger ICV more Ratels will sold, meaning the company can offer them upgraded to the Iklwa standard will local input of the buyer. It's all about negotiations. I don't remember SA refusing to sell equipment to friendly countries. |

Henry240:Wouldn't that be futile as the current Nigerian procurement system means equipment comes in dribs and drabs and sourced from many companies? A contract could be signed for 50 vehicles with technology transfer design, development etc will take place in SA with a small numbers produced here. But when production is moved to Nigeria is the company in Nigeria likely to receive a follow on order? unlikely. I am in support of skills transfer in the fields of maintanance, repair etc |

MikeCZAR: Issues relating to erratic procuremments are about to be fixed. A new vehicle assemble line is about to be installed at DICON. Proforce has already expanded to Port-Harcourt and Abuja, Mekahog's plant is already servicing a police force order. It can only move forward from this point. These issues would be sorted out with the military's industrial complex plan. A local/partner company that can deliver would see an order for at-least 200 vehicles. |

jln115: I am just postulating here... so this is not the word of god. The Army has only made an order fo 236 (i know there will prob be follow on orders but anyway) and we have over 1000 Ratels. What this means is that the 236 Ratels that are made redundant will most likely be the most worn down and knackered ones... probably ones from the first production run. So, Ratels made available for export will only be able to be sold after extensive refurb... and judging by what LMT did for the military museum that is going to cost upwards of $20 000. |
