Fayose Cautions Buhari Over Probe Of Military Chiefs, Says $2.1bn Arms Deal Is A Scam

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, Weekend, advised President Muhammadu Buhari on his order for 18 Military Generalsto be probed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal.

Fayose, who reacted to President Buhari's order for the 18 serving and retired military chiefs to appear beforethe EFCC from Monday, through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said the military officers ought to have been probed in accordance with the armed forces rules of engagement.

The governor, who reiterated his support for the fight against corruption, however, dismissed the$2.1 billion arms deal as a scam, noting that "all they are just doing is to brandish figures to deceive Nigerians and demonized the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and those opposed to his dictatorship in the All Progressive Congress (APC)."

Till today, the amount they have charged people for stealing is not up to N10 billion and $2.1 billion they claimed was stolen is about N600 billion."The president must let Nigerians see where the arms deal is in the 2015 Budget and publish details of the imaginary $2.1 billion scam. Also, the President must tell Nigerians how his friend, Jafaru Isa was able to return N100 million to the EFCC within three days because there are insinuations that the N100 million refunded came from the Presidency."

Fayose said it was strange for serving military generals to be interrogated by junior police officers, adding that "The president should not act in a way that he will be perceived as ridiculing the armed forces."He said: "Even though I am not a military officer, but I know that there iswhat us called orderly room trial or court martial, which military men who erred in the performance of their duties are made to go through.

It is until they are found guilty and probably dismissed that they are made to face court trial."In this case, how does it feel for a serving Military General to be interrogated by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP)?

"I think we should not destroy our democratic institutions, especially the judiciary and the armed forces because weare fighting corruption."

Already, the President has ridiculed the judiciary by disobeying the courts and coming on television to say that orders of the court do not hold waters.

He is also destroying the Independent
National Electoral Commission (INEC) by turning it to commission for inconclusive elections. He should not ridicule the military, and men of goodwill should advise the President to thread cautiously."

Also, the international community, especially the United States, United Kingdom and the United Nations should caution the President against actions capable of bringing down institutions of government under the guise of fighting corruption."

Fayose is fast running out of ideas in defending corruption, what does he mean by saying junior officers should not investigate the agbayas who ate yams?

Looks like fayose reads nairaland a lot for him to be saying that the arms scandal is not real which is what ekpas on this forum have been promoting this week.

Fayose is running out of steam even when PMB is about to start grin

Fayose is asking a basic question where in 2015 budget 2.1 billion dollars was provided for arm purchase if its not propaganda

now what substantiative averment can you depict to refute & repudiate his postulations as mendacious?.

Attack the message and abdicate from attacking the messenger!

So you are not aware of the extra budgetary allocations for arms, you guys keep asking questions to deceive ignorant ones, fayose was only trying to repeat an article of lies here on this forum that the arms deal was a propaganda. If truly it was Ngozi iweala will be the first to tell us so don't you think so.

Let be objective in our minds and not subjective, there are military procedures for deal with erring officers not civilian court. IS DASUKIGATE REAL?? Well much as I believe that any person who participated in the pillaging of this country should be punished severely, however let's take time to do this little math on the much hyped Dasukigate. Now from the government sources, a total of $2.1 billion was alleged to have been stolen through Dasuki.

This translated to about N450 billion at the material time. From government sources now and from the figures available, if you do a total summation of the whole amount of money Dasuki was said or alleged to have "shared", it is in the neighbourhood of N10 billion or less than that. Now the amount said to have been recovered from that is so far less than N1 billion.

This is against about N450 billion ($2.1 billion) said to have been allocated to Dasuki for the war against boko haram. So we are still left with a balance of over N400 billion. What about the huge left over, if it exists? ? Now was this N450 billion ($2.1) said to have been given to Dasuki contained in a single budget?

How much was the Jonathan budget for the period in question and how much was the defence budget? Meanwhile has anybody ever heard from the man Dasuki himself? I think it is now easy to see why the government does not want to charge him to court or is so reluctant to do so. Interestingly, some of those people who were involved said Dasuki never gave them any money. It is so unfortunate that all that this government has to show for this much hyped war against corruption so far is just the less than N1 billion so far said to have been recovered from the alleged Dasuki accomplices

.Now can you remember how much Obasanjo' s government (as corrupt as it was) recovered from the Abacha loot as well as even former governors like Chimaroke Nnamani et al? This is why i had earlier described the so called Dasukigate as a storm in the tea-cup

Can u explain why he said he needed time to refund the balance of 70m. Cud the presidency not give him the 170m at once.
One of d easiest things to do in this country is to twist every story to suit one's fancy.
For eg, I can fabricate a story that Metuh spotted a beard in court because his "jujuman" told him if he does, the judge wud look favorably at his plea for bail.Meanwhile the truth is that he didn't have d luxury of a shave while in detention.
Fayose is building up to allege witch hunt when the hammer reaches him. I don't see him completing his tenure, watch as powerbrokers, not even to the know of PMB,manoevre the state assembly to impeach him.
