I'm delighted to read these wealth of experiences shared here.

PLEASE URGENT ADVICE IS NEEDED!!!

I'm new in broiler farming, though an experienced friend advises me. I have 385 surviving broilers (out of 403 stock of 1 day old chicks) which are 4 weeks old, today. I administered Lasota on my broilers yesterday morning. But this morning two have died and two are very weak. I also discovered that some of them are infected with coccidiosis (and are discharging blood in their faeces), some showing symptoms of cough (discharge of green faeces), some white watery faeces while others a combination of two cases.

In view of this complicated case of infections, can I administer about three different antibiotics at the SAME TIME against the three major infections suspected?

Thanks.

hello my fellow poultry farmers. i thank all of you for your great contributions to this thread. i weant you people to help me with my 1000 birds layer which are 23 weeks by Monday 18th January but their eggs drop is 50 eggs yesterday and 47 a day before.
Actually they have started laying on 27th Dec, 2015 with just one egg. they kept increasing it by just 3 to 4 eggs every day. Now they reached 50. please is there no problem at 23 weeks? NB: i give them animal care feed 4 bags every day untill 2 days ago i increased to 5 bags. the birds are from Zartech brown.

YES IF THE CASE IS BACTERIAL INFECTION,BUT IF ITS COCCIDIOSIS U WILL GIV EMBAZIN FOR 3 DAYS THEN NORMAL WATER FOR 1 TO 2 DAYS THEN EMBAZIN AGAIN FOR 2 DAYS DATS K. GEMTADOX IS STRONG ANTI BIOTIC because I USED IT BFO EVEN TYLODOX IS GUD I USED IT RECENTLY. THE BEST WAY FOR SUCCESS IN POULTRY IS BIO SECURITY,I MEAN HYGIENE IN POULTRY FARM,FEEDERS AND DRINKERS N GIVE DEM CLEAN WATER N FEEDS ALWAYS N VACCINATE UR CHICKS DATS ALL,

hello good morning
good farmers in the house. My name is latifah.i am a graduate with Bachelor's degree in microbiology.I'v had interest in agriculture especially poultry farming since my childhood. Now as the economy of Nigeria is..being self employed(farming especially)is the only solution to unemployment problems.
To cut the long story short,I ventured into broiler production already.God so good, its been going on great. No mortality at all in my broiler production farm, except for d turkeys I am rearing as well.
Now the problem I have is that I started late October 30th to be precise coz of fear of bird flu(rumour I guess).so, I cudnt sell them off for Xmas and new year coz dey avnt really grown very big.
Now, my fear is..I changed my mind to raise them till Easter which is going to be almost 5months of their production.
What do you advice me to do because..I am going to have overweighed cost of production.and im sure its not economical enough to sell them for #3500.Im scared.im finking of getting help on processing into frozen chicken by ending of jan when they will be exactly 3months.
Please I need your advice on what to do and how to go about it. Thanks in advance.im new here, and it feels good to be part of ds great forum.

Increasing the feed to 5 bags is ideal, how many hours of light do de have? They should get about 16 hours of light....

My thinking, pls don't make d mistake of keeping it to Easter..the cost will too much for u. Think of how to sell NOW!!! Easter is 10 weeks now, some1 who stocks now can still sell 1,500/2000 at Easter depending and who u supply to.
Processing into frozen chicken.... How will u sell it, is d market there...
I always advise you, have an idea of who u will supply broilers to before starting.... However explore options of selling NOW...

I THINK U BETTER SELL DEM ALL NOW IF U WANT GET PROFIT EVEN NOW U ALMOST LET TO GET PROFIT,because KEEPIN BROILERS MORE THAN 8 WKS THEY WILL CONSUME PROFIT,WIT GUD MANAGEMENT AND FEEDS UR CHICKS CAN REACH 3KG IN 8 TO 9 WKS.DNT KEEP BROILERS FOR LONG IF U WANT MAXIMIZE UR PROFIT,GUD MNGMNT N GUD ENOUGH FEED IS ALL ABT BROILERS FARMING,

Now that you found yourself in this situation, you have two options for you to get reasonable profit from your investment.

1. You sell them to the proccessors or you proccess it if you can. But i'm not sure if any processor would be willing to buy 3 months old broilers which must not less than 2.5kg.

2. If you still have some money, you can cut down their feed consumption by 50% and raise them till Easter. Infact you can even cut it down to 30% from now and increase it to like 80% a week to Easter(just a week to Easter).

Light up till 10pm is good... I don't think it's bad, some start laying 18 weeks, some 20 weeks, some 23 weeks... Yours started laying early they will pick, its after 2 months that you should know if they laying well or not

Thanks house dor the advice...I have thought through all of the options u gave me..
okay..if im to meet processors, how much are my birds supposed to weigh for them to be paid for at a reasonable amount? Processors in the house should plz help with d response.
And the second option suggested by @Yemmite90 that I shud reduce their feed to at least 30% of their normal feed.i think iv strted with that already.but i wanna knw..will they reduce in size in ds period of feed reduction? and gain bk d lost weight wen I increase bk the quantity in march(having contd wiv d normal budget of feed) OR will they remain d weight they are ..only tat they wont grow fast until I increase d feed again?

Pls count your losses and sell all your birds NOW... Every extra day de stay gives you more cost... Those who sell 2,500 or 3,500 have ready markets... Do you have the market for that now?? Urgently look for how to aggressively sell them now, weda live or processed...

If you stock day old broliers BTW now and next week they will very big for Easter... So don't keep those birds for Easter.... My opinion pls

I think it's basically to be cautious, careful.... Do not let people into your farm, when you going into the farm where your farm slippers/boot/shoe use hand glooves

Avoid any form of foreign materials coming into your farm...
