On my Third day on the job, He connived with another bad colleague and they pushed me to the atm as ATM Custodian. This I was doing with tears because this man was just making life unbearable for me by threatening me all the time. All the jobs in the branch was given to me to do except FTO jobs. He refused creatn me and even wen i was later created, he still refuse i work as FTO. Theres sometn called cashdrop box, and its meant for contract staff to work there but this man forced me to work there for even upto a month combined with atm custodian and other cash jobs while the other bad colleague walks around pressing fones and chattn. Later in November, the Area Manager visited and said i should be returned as FTO. Ever since then, this manager will pack other peoples job on me and be embarassing me in front of customers when I dnt finish them. Whenever I tried to complain, he will start shoutn and insultn me in front of customers. This has been happening for upto 5months now. I joined this particular bank in late August and by middle of september, 6 staff angrily left the branch because of this manager and his accomplices. Resign?...Is your manager the bank owner? Bro.... sometimes you need to fight fire with fire. Your boss has a boss... you already fired off a letter and got the area manager to come in and order that you be put in your position. To date...you are not...and the area manager is not aware of that because you have not informed him that his instruction was ignored by the manager. Get in contact with the area manager and let him know. I guarantee you would see results and the manager disciplined or removed. Been there done that. Or ...you can take the street action... meet the manager one on one... let him know you are tired of his bs and demand you be put in your position or you would leave and be back to deal with him on another level. Well you will give what it takes. Someone who had similar experience is Daniel in the bible and he won. So you too will win. Truth shall prevail over evil. You just need to pray very well, watch your back and be extra hard working. At the end of the day you may end up appointed as the manager of the branch. |

If it is Access Bank im sure you knew before you went there or was warned..If its not access bank..but a sane bank just a crazy manager..find a way to be moved to another branch.

@OP,
Resignation is not the answer, since you have been working in a bank before you should know that bsm' and mangers are not glued to their branches. job function changes, branch also change. So let patience be ur middle name.
And another thing I know is when u were posted to ur so called fto desk, there must also have been a clause that said "and any other duty assigned to you by your supervisors" so take the other jobs and do them well with a smile on your face. And try to ignore the hustle environment.
Then stop looking at contract staff as beneath you nor their job functions beneath you. most of them know the job far better than you do, so swallow that silly pride of yours and learn from them.
Know that you will one day be in charge, and no body likes a half baked supervisor. So swallow your pride do the ATMs, do the cash jobs, do everything. knowledge of all these things will shape you into the supervisor that will be well rounded.

4. Only insecure bosses and those who feel intimidated by their juniors do this. Perhaps, he doesn't know the job and feels you know it better

(a) Service Management group?
(b) Complaint group?
(c) Blow the Whistle platform?
(d) A very professional HR department?
(e) Service improvement unit?
(f) Is his boss a professional manager or those who like sycophancy? This kind of person could be dangerously close to his boss!
Then...
1. Explore writing anonymously to them.
2. Don't make it obvious that it is the new guy that is writing. Let it be a general complaint from someone in the branch, especially the contract staff.
3. Ask them to investigate with a MYSTERY SHOPPER or any other means
4. Meanwhile, you MUST avoid any altercation with your boss

Oh boi relax! relax just as somebody said b4 20 children can't play together for 20 years. I was once in your shoe bur all what I did was to ignore the BM. I made sure I don't come late to work and i do my job well as cash officer despite all that he shouted at me he will humiliated me before Tellers. You can imagine your Teller will not come to work for days they will not inform you as their direct super visor even going on leave you will not know, Tellers will talked back and shouted on me and my boss will be comfortable. Many other thing I can't continue to write. but I took consolation that we can't be there forever after like 2 years I was moved from his branch to another branch, so my guy relax and just wait for your time. Never report your superior to his Boss no matter how close u are to him or her, talk good of him and do your job well and be prayerful. you will see what will happen next. 1 Like 1 Share |

What that man is doing is nothing but BULLYING.
No bank not even the old generation banks will accept such.
You need to summon courage and escalate this issue. Either to your zonal head or HR.
He doesn't own the bank and he has no right to insult or abuse you.
The funny thing is that careers of men like that do not end well.
I won't be surprised if there's some under cover fraud going on. Hence the reason for his hostility. I cant remember the last time I replied a post or logged in on Nairaland but this got me interested because I was in a similar situation which I shared here a few years ago. I angrily resigned but my plan B was to go for a training in my field with the cash I saved up while with the Bank and currently, almost 6 years later I am earning more than 8 times of my salary then. (I was earning almost 200k in the Bank)
I am not suggesting that you leave. It is not always the solution but damn him, send a strong-worded mail to your HR seeking a transfer and clearly stating reasons why you cannot continue working under him as your supervisor. Then, by the side, have a Plan B. No Plan B is ever easy at the start but do have one. Bullies are cowards and retreat when they see who does not fear them.
In whatever you do, do not lick his ass. It will perpetually demean you and change your psychology. Climb the ladder of your career only through hard work and God's grace. That's what will make it last.

MY brother Ur case IS pathetic,But endure,u May Not cope IF u Resign,Try and exhaust all avenues,i was pushed out of MY Banking Job By MY wicked ogas,But God has landed ME TO a Good business,That i Even earn More Than Their MD,pray TO God For assistance. |

My dear there is only one solution to your predicament,pray pray pray and fast for him, do your job diligently, whatever u want God to do to him shall be like a dream to you. If you want him to be demoted, or transferred na so. If you don't know HW to pray let others including ur pastor do it for you, but you must believe. If you resign, how sure are you that the next place won't be worse than the present. Good luck |
