Henry240: According to @invincible007 source: http://www.milveterans..com, you guys had a friendly fire incident, were a T72 fired upon a Reva MRAP killing 3, including 2 South Africans apparently.......I want to know if you heard anything about it, as im a bit skeptical after reading that the author suggests that if the Reva was in good condition it would've shrugged of the hit!Now i dont care in how good of a condition that Reva MRAP couldve been, but there's not a single MRAP,APC,IFV,AFV ect ect that can withstand a 120mm or 105mm tank round. 3 Likes |

jln115: It was purchased by HSOL, however the armaments and manning would be provided by the Nigerian Navy. The Nigerian Navy would arm it with 2x 23mm and 2x 12.7mm SK. Maintenance and fueling would by provided by HSOL. Hence the caption as a Nigerian MPV, no navy inserted. It's actually an OPV going by the functions she's going to perform. |

jln115: That's the incidence that killed Leon Lotz, the South-African mechanic. The author simply doesn't know what he's talking about. The Reva won't stop a 12.7mm, a 23mm would cut through it like a hot knife through butter, there is absolutely no way it can withstand an MBT round. 2 Likes |

Henry240:I don't know why they like twisting the whole issue. Whenever any African countries employs the service of Contractors, they automatically becomes mercenaries. US extensively use Blackwaters but then, we termed them as contractors and not mercenaries. Yes, Nigeria employed the service of STTEP in training 72MSF for just 3months. Their contract ended way back around March 2015 and there wasn't any renewal of contract, neither had this present government employed their service. Col. Eeben Barlow and his crews did a good job and we know how 72MSF puts BH on backpedalling. What's even the big deal in employing mercenaries if not for the slave-mentality some are having and white-supremacist-mentality inbred in some African. We have so many wars and conflicts ongoing on the continent, but we aint ready to put down our pride and accept the help of other african--- ONLY WHITE(US,EUROPE,WEST,EAST) CAN HELP US. What Lubbish Rubbish Bubbish!!! We all knows what the US did in North Africa and how some countries are faring security wise there now. That's BH running gaga in West africa, surpassing the record of ISIS/ISIL. We know where they got their weapons from and how they sourced their funds. The Western assasination of a sitting government in Libya says it all and we are here ranting about africans helping africans. So what if they are mercenaries from SA or NG or Kenya or Djibouti or Congo, so far we are cleansing the continent of terrorists and their sponsors. We better settle down and have a rethink about how this continent is going to move forward. We are being bogged down with endless war while our economies are going down the drain--simply because we are spending more on fighting insurgencies than building and bettering(if there's any word like that) the lives of our citizens. How are we faring when we placed the West as the god and this is the same person that sent a Drone to obliterate an Hospital and still send back the drone to bomb people rescuing the injured/killed/maimed in the first strike. And now, some contractors came from SA to help Nigeria in her CTCOIN, and the mainstream media are crying we employed Mercenaries simply because their(contractor) tactics works better than their own and we also are blowing fire--they are mercenaries. Who cares if they are aliens? Nonsense. 7 Likes |

I watched with amazement how some Nigerians and South Africans Niggas are ranting over the Burundi's saga. Why do we like taking pride in the fall of others? Someone says he feels good when Nigerian Army runs from BH, what's the pride in that? Another person says Seleka Rebels puts South African troops to flight leaving behind weapons and dead soldiers, i asked, TO WHAT END? Why can't we just put our (stinking)pride down and embrace each others so that this continent will be a better and safer place to dwell in? We just likes taking glory in the downfall of other africans, are we truely patrotics to the continents? That's a report about Al-shabaab overrunning military facilities, killing officers and the US couldn't mustered a drone to suppress or give aerial cover. That's why i like Ethiopia.... I want the ethiopian's style. Send away any unuseful and parasitic foreign military that aint helping your course and goals. Had it been there was coordinations and agreement btw the east african Airforce(as some of you guys suggested), Alshabab wont have a field day like they had. We need to look inward and help ourselves Africans. I dont care if you are Black or chocolate or white africans, as far as you are from africa. That's Russia, we know how they fares in Syria. That's US and its coalitions, we know how they too fares in Iraq and syria over a year ago. There's a saying in Nigeria that: Nobody loves Nigeria better than Nigerians. And am saying Nobody loves Africa better than Africans. If we dont love our continent, nobody will. Stop taking pride and happiness in the downfall of other africans. Look inwardly and tell me how many conflicts had been reported in North America (with exception of guns incidents) or South america(exception of drug cartels). How many? That's it. That's middle east that has been turned into hotbed of war and radicalism. Check africa, from Burundi to CAR to Nigeria to Mali to Libya to Egypt to somalia to Algeria to kenya to niger to cameroon to chad... Etc and you will see countless bloodshed and unending conflicts. How will the continent grows economically when we get bored with fighting upon fighting. Isn't that why contractors from african are developing ways of countering western influence to destabilized the continent? We need spiritual recrudescence. We Africans can only stop the massacres we are witnessing everyday. Who cares if SA's are trainignwith their Nigerians counterpart or Malawi training a small unit of Egyptians army or Guinea-Bissau having military drills with Algeria. Who gives a damn? Let's for once stop the animosity toward other powers on the continent. 5 Likes |

Henry240: So, of all the mechanics in the world (and nigeria)... you just happened to hire a "mechanic" who was a former 32 Bn operator? Come on dude. The Nigerian army was facing an enemy they had never fought before, and were fighting a war they had never fought before. So you hired some merc's to help build institutional and operational experience. There is no shame in it. Who do you think formed the nucleus of the South African special forces in the early 1970's? It was former Rhodesian operators. No shame in it at all. 2 Likes |

africaken: Russians are sh1tty allies. Vlad is only in Syria because it suits the "great game" he is playing with Obama. In the G8 summit he offered to pull out of Syria if the Americans recognized the Novo-Russian states in the Dombass (Ukraine), Obama said no... so Vlad will just wait until the next president comes along and will offer the same deal. Syria is just a pawn in Russia's Geo-Political agenda. |

Patchesagain: I really honestly do not know what shame you're talking about. Lotz is reportedly from KwaZulu-Natal, and was engaged in the support and care of vehicles used by the Nigerian military in their current onslaught against insurgency. https://www.naij.com/401378-south-african-contractor-mistakenly-killed-in-nigeria.html *P.S, I have no problem with Eeben Barlow or his company. Patchesagain:Even if russia is a Shitty ally, we aint blind to their mission in Syria and to America and allies mission in syria and iraq. We know the mission(between the two) that is bringing result and the one based on propaganda and unseriousness. Yes, the stationing of Moskva sister ship, the firing of cruise missiles by corvettes and submarine from mediterranean and caspian seas and the deployment of S400, BUK and Pantsir is a muscle flexing but still, we are seeing results. Syria is a testing ground for various Russian weapons but still, they aint muscle flexing alone(conveying a message to the west and NATO), they are dealing a decisive/death blow to Daesh/ISIL/ISIS/IS in syria. The Syrians won't talk the way you are talking-- because they know those helping from those aggravating the war. Over 23,000 bombing were carried out by US the world over in 2015 alone. I am first an african before claiming to be an earthling(alienic). And common sense dictates that with partly showing of muscle, partly fighting ISIL, Russia fares better in Syria than the western coalitions years of bombing. 2 Likes |

Henry240:Alshabaab has been known to change tact everytime something fails, you constantly have to evolve with them meaning lots of intelligence.... like in this incident, it has emerged that KDF always managed to get upperhand info of impending attack because of locals in the sorounding areas, but this time the locals seem to have aided the terrorists.. In all the attackes alshabaab has conducted on different troops from Burundi,Uganda,Ethiopia....it has always been just after rotation when troops are new to the area so this needs to be checked. either troop rotation becomes a top-secrete mission or rotation happens is small batches. The war in Somalia used to be about clan politics---It seems this has never changed Details of Al Shabaab attack on Kenyan forces emerge The soldiers killed and injured by Al Shabaab at El Adde in Somalia's Gedo region belonged to 9th Kenya Rifles formation in Eldoret and arrived in Somalia by road two days before the attack by militants, military sources indicate. KDF soldiers in Somalia under AMISOM are deployed for periods and are often rotated within Somalia itself or are withdrawn and replaced with other soldiers after a certain period. The 9th Kenya Rifles is an infantry formation and the soldiers, some who were on their second tour of duty in Somalia, left Eldoret two weeks ago for Mandera before entering Somalia by road last week. The sources also told The Standard that identification of the deceased and notification of families may take long because most of the bodies were dismembered extensively in the massive explosions.

Interesting comment by Heitman regarding the Ratel sales to cameroon: What we should be doing is converting those not needed as ICVS as the Badger enters service to APCs: Refurbish, remove turret and replace with commander's cupola and an overhead machinegun mounting, re-engine if necessary, and that is one fewer new Sapula APC that we have to buy.
