Buhari should learn from Jimoh Ibrahim. Can Buhari please emulate the level of maturity with which Ibrahim handled that little uprising that had the potential to turn into a large-scale corporate embarassment for Jimoh and his companies.

Jimoh said 'they should be allowed to protest. It is their right to protest... ' The Dullard in charge at Aso Rock believes every protest should be visited with death. Dissent isn't part of his constitution. May God deliver us from the hands of this tyrant imposed on us against our collective will by the Northern Alamajiri and their slaves from the Southwest.

What is the level of staff welfare in his companies, when he owes backlog of salary arrears? This guy is a clown! He has the guts to be delivering lectures and presenting papers at energy conferences when his firms are in shambles? mtcheew!

Buhari is as bad as Jimoh Ibrahim as far as business and enterprise management is concerned. They're both bad managers. My point is that Buhari should learn how to manage dissenting opinions. What happened on live television this morning could have spiralled out of control if it wasn't well managed. Jimoh even instructed that the live broadcast should continue notwithstanding the potential damage of such protests to his businesses.

Managing dissenting opinions is as important as getting the job done, and ensuring your enterprises are properly managed for optimum productivity.

Afterall, if both men had managed the enterprises under them properly and given value to the public, would there have been any need for dissenting opinions?

Jimoh Ibrahim is a hypocrite and a fraud, for even presenting a public lecture on that forum in the first place. I beg, he should go and sit down.

Jimoh Ibrahim told the cameramen not to cut the transmission.

Unscripted protest live during the conference.

He said some of the materials will be available on the Premier University, Sao Tome website. The university is owned by Jimoh Ibrahim.

Jimoh Ibrahim noted for running aground any biz he takes over giving lectures on how to run a biz? What will one not see in Nigeria.
As for the protests, any person or group that protests violently or stops others from going about their legitimate biz, anywhere in the civilized world, invites the full weight of the law on his/hersebiz

Good message bad messenger. Jimoh is a very poor manager of business. All his attempt at running a profitable business has been a failure back to back, from Air Nigeria to Nicon to Newswatch. I learnt a lot from the lecture sha especially when he talked about industry value creation.

Now you're pointing your accusing fingers at Mr Jimoh Ibrahim for mismanagement of businesses he acquired or built with HIS MONEY. When one of such businesses runs aground, who loses? Whose money goes down the drain pipes? Jimoh himself...

How about pointing those accusing fingers at those men and women gathered in that auditorium whose tasks are to manage those businesses and make them more profitable? They're men like you... Jimoh Ibrahim said something of note today. He said sometimes you hire people to manage your business and instead of aligning to YOUR VISION for the business, they come with THEIR VISION for YOUR BUSINESS. That is one sure way to running businesses aground.

I hope I made a little sense here. I tried to pick up the positives in what Jimoh was saying

Point of correction. He does NOT put food on people's tables. They work for him, he uses their sweat to achieve his ends and does not pay them their salary at the end of the day. Do an audit of his employees and find out how many of them are being owed backlog of salaries stretching to 6 months or more! shocked

Guy, cut the crap. It is people like you that perpetuate the reign of incompetent clowns at the helm of affairs. I mentioned Jimoh Ibrahim because he was the main person who was the focus of this thread. Which business did he build? Was it Newswatch or Air Nigeria or what? Even the petrol stations that carry his brand called ENERGY, were acquired from other major and independent marketers. So how many of his businesses did he build from scratch? shocked

Whatever Jimoh Ibrahim said today is totally meaningless when weighed against his business practice, ethics and management style. If a trader at Idumota who pays her workers and bills promptly, were to say the same thing, then I would believe her. But for Jimoh Ibrahim to preach that silly epistle about vision, I would tell him to take a hike because he is simply being deceitful. angry

For a person to buy into your vision, you must first communicate it to him appropriately, ensure he understands it properly, empower him with the tools he needs to achieve it, train him to execute it while compensating him adequately as agreed, for using his sweat to help you achieve that vision. sad

If he is incapable of executing the vision, then it means you either made a recruitment error in hiring him in the first place, or you failed to give him adequate tools, training and funds to execute the vision.

So Jimoh Ibrahim should preach his deceitful epistle to those gullible enough to believe him who are unable to see through his pretence. undecided

You have said it all. He is a totally bad messenger, and should never have been selected to deliver such a message. In another country, he would be heavily sanctioned for maladministration and a host of other financial breaches, and infringement of labour laws.

Drama As Jimoh Ibrahim Sack Newswatch MD, DMD On Live TV by DONSMITH123 (m): 2:33pm

Energy Group Chairman and billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim has sacked the Managing Directors of his media companies over unpaid salaries of workers.

At a public lecture on the Energy Group 5th GMD Conference, aired live on AIT on Monday, unpaid journalists of Newswatch Newspapers, Newswatch Magazine and National Mirror Newspapers had stormed the ongoing conference holding at NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, demanding the payment of their 13 months’ unpaid salaries.

Displaying placards, asking Ibrahim to clear the unpaid salaries , the journalists, under the aegis of Nigerian Union of Journalists, NUJ, sang protest songs and took over the venue of the conference.

The chanted solidarity songs, insisting that Ibrahim address the salary issue before the conference could continue.

Ibrahim, who could not hide his anger midway into the conference, continued to blast company heads who could not generate their own money to pay salaries despite heavy investment in the business.

The first to get the axe was the MD of Newswatch who was sacked on TV in a very dramatic fashion.

Visibly under tension, the bosses of the newspapers in the conference knew there was trouble. And trouble eventually came when Ibrahim, suddenly, verbally appointed one the directors in the conference as new head of the Newswatch.

Subsequently, he announced that he would help to pay some of the companies owing six months salaries but on the condition that the Managing Directors and Deputy Managing Directors of the companies step aside.

He stated that any of his companies that does not pay up all salaries owed by December 31, 2016, will be shut down.

Ibrahim, however, announced that the affected bosses should forward their resignation letter via email before they get termination letters from him.

This came from another thread:

stagger:
The whole lecture was a drama in motion. First, I do not understand why the entire event was transmitted. One thing is clear: Jimoh Ibrahim is a very arrogant man. His testimony before the House Aviation committee showed it, and today confirmed it. See the way he was handling the whole event like a headmaster talking to his boys. His MDs and DMDs were obviously cowering in fear. I mean, look at the way he would just hand over a microphone to one of his boys, and when one starts to talk rubbish he would just grab the mic and start laughing hoarsely.

You could tell who was the emperor and who were the serfs. I was simply flabbergasted, especially by his boasts of how he was untouchable, how he would stop any human being who tries to put roadblocks on his business, how he was using examples of Buhari and Jonathan as if he was talking about his boys, etc.

I tire o!

Your head dey correct, jare. By the way, where are those jokers who were referring to Jimoh Ibrahim as their mentor?? shocked

I could like your comment a thousand times. He owes staff salaries in most of his companies. I can attest to this because I work in the accounts dept of one of his companies. Most of these companies are not making profit. Their corporate image is poor and hardly marketable. He plunders his companies' funds and hardly makes any significant investment in them. He's nothing but a hypocrite. He's well aware of the state of his companies. Sacking the MD and the DMD of Newswatch was just sheer hypocrisy. He wants to shift his ineptitude to his management staff while making the public to believe that he's innocent but we know better. Can you believe that almost everybody in my company has been pushed to marketing dept, including Chartered Accountants
