Good Day All,

On Tuesday morning, was at the Lagos Consulate for my F1 interview (Sorry for the late post).

Please view my transcript below;
VO: Please come forward.
SL: Good morning.
VO: (no response; He must have been cranky). *Flips through my passport*. So you have a running B1/B2 Visa
SL: Yes.
VO: So why do you want to study an MBA ....
SL: No, not an MBA. Its a Mastes degree.
VO: I'm sorry, why do you want to go for a Masters in Project Management?
SL: *Gave him my story, linking it with my being an Investment Banker*. When I was done, I said, and here's a letter of introduction from my company.
VO: Without looking up, he kept typing but said "Never mind".
VO: So, have you paid the SEVIS fee?.
SL: Yes I have. It's right there (pointed at the paper in front of him which he clearly missed out).
VO: (Keeps typing and typing and typing).
VO: Your visa has been approved, pick it up in three business days. Also, make sure you don't present the B1/B2 visa at the POE so it doesn't raise any issues.
SL: Thank you very much.
SL: So the B1/B2 visa is still valid?
VO: Yes it is.

I thanked him again and left!

Thanks to God, everyone that prayed with me as well as the Special tips from AKO1, KennyRonny, Meritdee.

Tuesday was just miraculous because before me, they had only approved a visa for 1 woman and her daughter (an Indian). Every other person had a blue paper (denial). In fact, the three F1 applicants ahead of me were rejected out-rightly. I remember praying as I walked before the VO. God is faithful and kind.

Next off, who lives in New York here oooooo. Looking to share an apartment. smiley

Congrats!

And good luck finding a place in New York! I work in NY but live on the outskirts, the rent is too damn high!

A studio in a decent neighborhood in Manhattan typically costs upwards of $2,500 a month. If you're willing to share in a two/three bedroom, half that.

A studio or one bedroom further from town in deeper parts of the Bronx or Queens could go from anywhere between 1k if you're lucky and 1.8.

Taking standardized tests before one arrives is a lot better. Being in the class with those whose official language is not English is pitiful. It becomes more laughable if he or she cannot pass.

Not just only that but the major thing it does is that it help is saving unnecessary cost to register for English class

Imagine paying over $180 for English class or 20 times of $180 for English class when you can register toefl for just $180..

Sometimes I find it hard and wonder how some people reason...

Those that filled the DS-160 recently, did you actually upload a picture in your application or you skipped that part and went to the embassy with a passport photo instead. This new method get as e be.

It's okay. Whatever rock their boat. Naira is gradually turning to Zimbabwean Dollar. May God have mercy!! The electronic i ordered in the US cost me a lot of Naira, I had to tell the white guy to stop for other items.

Try uploading a photo, the application may or may not accept it. However, hold at least 2 passport photos. Goodluck

You should first try using that photo cropping tool on the site. Better yet, request for a soft copy at the passport photo taking center and if they also have Internet and computers quickly try to see if it meets the required specification with that tool.

Something about the proportion of your head and its centrality to the entire frame along with other digital specifications. Mine worked after a couple of attempts.

Best of luck!

I want to assume people are really scary of this Donald Trump and his policies. Imagine, after spending millions of naira running a masters in the US, now Mr Donald end up sending such individuals back to Nigeria. I'm sure people are a little putting a hold on further applications and they want to see if Donald will become the President. Some are already having Canada, Mexico and some other countries as a back up just in case Donald wins

You are correct bro, let's keep the faith and pray that everyone that got DELAYED on this thread would come back here to share their approval testimony.SHALOM!
glossybayor:
even me I could predict u going to get the visa because you have a running B1/B2 visa which gave you a huge advantage. If dey were going to approve only one f1 dat day, it would have been you. Valid B1/B2? That's a huge advantage sugar. Getting a US f1 visa now it's not an easy task, the rejection rate is too fucking much. I would have gotten my visa too on Thursday but the CO was flipping through my passport page by page, he was looking for a travelling history. I was given a blue paper after 2 attempt, making my 3rd time. It's only God will safe us, many people have being denied visa but I believe it's gonn be alright soon. I hope we all gonn get this visa soon. The rate of approving f1 students visa is now very low, infact Immigrant visa are more approved this days than the F1. It's now the survival of the fittest.

My brother let's be realistic,Donald Trump isn't going anywhere. He might win the ticket for his party but at the day,we all know Hillary Clinton will emerge President. America doesn't need a man like Donald Trump.

Hello Nairalanders,
I have been following some threads on here and just decided to seek advise when now.First, the Donald Trump issue is quite something to be feared if we are truthful, the man could mar foreigners in there is elected.Second,is my issue.I applied for a B2 visa in 2009 to enable me attend a conference for where I worked back then but got denied.I won't lie that I was way timid back then and was asked just one question after handing over the invitation letter.Fast forward to the present,I'd like to attend studies for my Masters and already saw a school with Toefl waiver for Nigerian students and departmental waiver for GRE.Now my questions are,can I go ahead and apply for interview when the time comes without any of those tests? Should I atleast try the GRE?? But I wouldn't want a low score to spoil it for me as I'm a busy, young and married man,so my time is limited for studying these days. Thank you in anticipation of your responses.

Don't be too sure about that. Better to keep an open mind. But that guy would be a big headache if he wins.

Is the sort of school that will admit you without TOEFL or GRE of any value?
If it is a low ranked school then it's certificates may be worthless in the job market (even in Nigeria.)
Then the money would be wasted.
Also a low ranked school shows up to visa officer and sometimes leads to rejection.
You should be checking these things before jumping in.
