A party was there for 16 good years, what did they do. The rot of 16years can't be clean overnight. We should praise him for giving them free meal,he can decide to siphon the money.

Elrufai is funny though, How can you give free food in a terrible environment. It is excellent if the government can provide break fast and lunch for the kids but before this can be achieved infrastructure should be in place. Are they supposed to eat in class or a dinning hall? they don't have chairs, the wall looks pathetic. This is simply miss appropriation of funds. Food for the kids is the least they need, a lot needs to be done in terms of infrastructure for the schools.

You will be surprised how much the government will claim to spend daily on these innutritious foods.

These are the pictures the governor unfortunately doesn't want you to see. And it ties in with the typical APC leadership style - Ignore the basic essentials you're supposed to provide, and focus on the cosmetic and unsustainable political gestures that will only earn you quick and easy brownie points from the gullible.
This man couldn't provide desks, teachers and laboratory infrastructure, he skipped them all for this recurrent expenditure that will do nothing to improve the QUALITY of education in those schools.
This was the exact same way a certain governor employed Twitter shills and media jesters to whitewash his image with endless propaganda for all of 2012, 2013 and 2014, until the crash in oil prices exposed him for the wasteful, shortsighted, and totally CLUELESS leader he really was ('Oil prices have fallen, so my hands are tied. I can't pay your salaries. in the mean time, pray for the state. Bye').

And the same thing looks to play out in Kaduna soon.
We just dey watch.

The Government will see this and turn a blind eye.

They should keep their food and provide basic facilities the students need.

Nigerians are hard to please. One moment they are shouting "fulfil your promise" the next moment they shout "it is not necessary, it is a waste of resources".
Granted, the infrastructure needs to be provided but what if the two programs are being implemented in parallel?

Everyone criticising this programme on the basis of these pictures a very big foool. What I see here is what I want to see.
Let those poor children come to school first.

Some idxxt even called the pictures "cosmetic". What is cosmetic about reality. What dumb middle class, unexposed rubbish are people talking about?. Do they know the problem in the north? The Governor has decided to feed his kids first instead of awarding contracts for buildings is that not commendable?
What about cultural realities of new educational concepts. AlmajIrI education no?..does it need fancy buildings?

In fact to shock you I would even suggest employing teachers before doing civil works on the schools. We have serious mind problems in Nigeria. The cluelessness of Jonathan government has enveloped a whole generation of youths. People can't think deep about any problem again just shallow self deceit.

Ridiculous.

Painfully ridiculous you mean. Misplaced priority IMO.

Somebody should tell El-rufai to tackle what is important and leave frivolity. Those kids never complained for food or begged him for once-a-day meal before. But they need chairs/tables to enable them study properly. Their parents/guardians have been living up to their responsibility. They are not complaining of feeding them. Besides, this kind of setting, the disadvantage could outweigh the advantage. Have you thought about passing around whatever traditional concoction one carries in his/her body like witchcraftcy, poison etc to others. If i have a child in any of these schools, the next minute wont catch up with me when i would withdraw my child shaperly from there before he/she gets infected.

I think the feeding program was initiated to urge more parents to send their children to school. Most parents over there will not send their children to school because of fancy furniture or a library of instructional materials. The food will motivated them more. After getting the parents to enrol their children in school, the government should now make the the environment more condusive .

Our leaders see us as fools that's why they treat us like trash.Would that so called governor let his kids learn and eat in such environment?I really pity the gullible ones who are so blinded that they hardly realize our useless leaders are so selfish, wicked and disgusting.

We can never get a different result by doing the same thing repeatedly. We and our leaders misplace priorities that's why we lack progress and development in all aspect of our lives.

Some fools will still tell us that the governor has tried by displaying his ignorance for all to see.

Shocking to say the least if it is true.

Education is very critical especially at primary school level.

The dilemma in urban cities like Lagos,PH,Kaduna and Abuja is that you cannot even think sending your child to a public primary school not to even talk of rural areas.

It cost about 80k per term to get an average private primary school . That is about 240k per year on tuition fees.

You pay 240k per year for about 9 years of private primary school education.

Imagine you also have a child in UNILAG, school fees of UNILAG cost less than 100k per year.

In other words, IT is cheaper to get a university education in Nigeria than quality primary education.

Nigerians are paying more to train their children in primary schools that should be of the highest quality and free.

Education is thus Elitist. If you are poor , you can send your child to schools like this one El Rufai is feeding. If you want quality, be ready to cough up over 300k per year per child. Whats the Minimum wage again ?

I just tire for Naija. undecided

Let those poor children come to school first before joining Boko Haram.

Please read about child education in the north and show this picture at the UN.

They will commend that government.

There is NO MONEY...please get it straight.

This is nor stomach infrastructure, this is a UN recommended way to improve literacy in the third world. In the Arab world people seat to eat on the floor and don't know what the fuss is about.

Some idxxt even called the pictures "cosmetic". What is cosmetic about reality. What if the do called propaganda governor had put new chairs and tables before snapping the pictures would you have been happy

What about cultural realities andvnew educational concepts. AlmajIrI education nko?..does it need fancy buildings, does it need furniture? . I have Uncle's who studied this way in the 60s and are now professors. If young people of Nairaland are not exposed to the realities of Nigeria or haven't done NYSC then they should just shut up.

No American or US social worker on a visit to Nigeria would make the shallow, showy, fake statements I am reading here.

In fact to shock you I would even suggest employing teachers before doing civil works on the schools. We have serious mind problems in Nigeria. All you blaming elrufai should not forget he has only been governor a few months, it will take time to get to all schools in the state. Fixing a rot is not done overnight. Even as far as Fashola went with Lagos schools, he didn't touch all in eight years.
