See how you just made yourself look very stoooopid

The OP clearly mentioned "Turned back" and "refused" entry which can only happen to those requiring Temporary entry clearance (Visa)
Its obvious u 're demented! tongue

You were lucky that the Immigration Officer had no reason to conduct a search on you. Having your educational credentials with you if seen, will definitely land you back home. It is better to scan your credentials and attach to an email. This you can access anywhere in the world, than risking immigration problems.
...ok.thanks...

So your personal experience to Australia means I was wrong? Read up on the most tough immigration in the world and see what comes up. Australia immigration are the most strict doesn't mean you can't be allowed entry without being interrogated and scrutinised.

Even if it comes to making a living without having residency Aussie has one of the most strict employment laws and there's almost no or little means to regularise one's stay in the country using fictitious marriages like it's obtainable in other Western countries.

Australian border force is no joke as they don't consider most of the human rights plea countries like UK and US have in place. How many Nigerians do you hear wish to travel there for hustling as compared to Europe and North America and why not?

Have you ever lived in Australia? Have you been there before? Are you saying this based on what you watch on border security?

Australia is one of the few countries where you don't get harassed on the street for immigration papers. Fictitious marriage also works in Australia and I know a number of Nigerians or Africans who have used that to regularized their papers. In fact, you can obtain your stay by merely having a kid with an Australian. Many Asians and Africans live and work illegally in Australia without visa in farms, construction sites, etc. Australia isn't popular among Nigerians because of the distance, over 26 hours in the air.

Google can't give you all the answers you want. you have to live it to understand it. The OP's post was all about being turned back at the port of entry. I gave an example, where i tried to explain how you could have an infringement and officials would clear you because they know you have nothing to hide because you had an oversight. Want another one. My organization sent me to Germany to complete a project which took 3 years. I didn't know that the SOFA card for my kids had to be renewed yearly while staying in Germany. I completed the project and went back home with my family. A year after that i was sent back for quality inspections and was stopped at the Nuremberg Airport because My name popped up due to my kids. I paid the 200 Euro fine and proceeded on. No one will turn you back unless you are dubious.

Exactly oo. Bottom line, as long as your intentions are genuine and you have adequate evidence that underpins your mission, POE would be a walk through the park. However, if your missions are not well defined, your chances of getting turned back is high.

To genuine folks out there, you have got nothing to be afraid of, be calm, be confidence and be ready to answer questions about your mission honestly, backed up with appropriate documents.

Its a closed and very racist country towards Blacks.
Just watch them on "Nothing to Declare" episodes.

Nothing on Mother earth would make me step my foot in that country. Nothing.

You are right about their racial disposition though. They relax a bit once they know you sha. I would rather say they are not so used to blacks or may be they are still be haunted by the old fight with the black Aborigines.

To those who says OP's points are not true, read very carefully

- Its important to watch all the border and point of entry shows on DSTV they will open your eyes
- I have seen a white American turned back in Australia because they saw puppets in his bag and when asked he said he was coming for a show
- I have seen an Asian chef turned back in Australia simply because he had kitchen Utensils in his luggage
- Just this last Sunday I saw a black Briton spewing queens English and holding a British passport shouting at the top of his voice why he had to be stopped 7 out of the 8 times he has been to Australia for Vacation each time travelling with his white Australian wife
- I read on NL here a guy said he was separated at the Airport in SA, thrown into a room filled with other Nigerians and while waiting for deportation for no reason the Immigration guy said all you Nigerians will come to SA and still our women. Fortunately for him his visa wasn't cancelled and on getting to Nigeria he simply bought another ticket and on getting there he avoided the particular immigration officer and he went through
- A lady that has traveled several times to the US was turned back simply because this particular time her bag was searched and they saw a US biz address on her biz card
- I saw a guy trying very hard to convince the immigration supervisor he had money in his Mastercard and she said "no I want to see cash"
- On my way to New York the immigration officer asked me curiously what I do because of the way I was dressed, when he was through with me and was on my way he asked for my return ticket, as I gestured to bring it out, he told me not to worry and just go.
- ALL what the OP said are 100% valid and you dont have to be fraudulent to enter that trap an innocent mistake/ a very angry immigration officer is enough

I have a dream that one day, other Nationals will be struggling to obtain Naija Visa to come visit.

Fellow Nairalander, let us educate our people. Do not attempt to travel outside the Country if you don't have any genuine reason to do so.

Gone are those days when you can travel outside to hussle and be successful. Every Nation on earth has got there own problems.

If you have your money to spend on holidays and will return home. Excellent! If you are going to further your education, perfect!

Use your hard earned money to do something meaningful for yourself in ur land. Travelling outside the Country is not what it used to be. Be aware of this.

Try and give the black race some dignity. If the whites had decided to run away from their country when things were hard, who would have built their nations that everyone is trying to run to now?

On the final note, if you don't have any genuine reason for traveling, please do not travel!
the whites ran too. america was built by runaways from ireland and italy. the so called "new world". so also australia and new zealand.

When you lied you are going for training and the training has ended before your arrival at the POE. Also, when you stated in your visa application form that you are going to Boston and you board plane going to New York.

No problem with this, just state your final destination in your landing card

You are wrong there is a prob, the training has ended and the training is not taking place in New York. He is more likely to be sent back.

IF the documents are seen and you are not on a student visa, you may be deported and your visa cancelled. But it's 50/50 you can give it a try and let us know the outcome. grin

Are you not travelling with a luggage bag? Put your credentials inside your luggage bag and check it into the airplane. In that way, nobody is going to search your bag. They will just scan it for drugs and other illicit materials.

I have gone through the 10 reasons. Am more concerned with No 9. Cos am travelling for the first time. I have a 2years b1/b2 US visa. Issued me to attend a conference in January in Washington DC. I couldnt not make it due to health issue. Now i plan going for Vacation in New York City. For just 6days. I bought a New York City pass. An electronic card that gives me access to over 80 tourist attraction sites in New York. I have hotel reservation for d 6days i will stay. I plan carrying a doctors report as why i didnt attend d conference. I also have my return ticket. I will be travelling a week after Easter. Am taking just enough clothes for d 6days nothing else. Am so concerned about POE as am using d visa for d 1st time on Vacation instead of conference d reason i was issued d visa. Am taking my hotel reservation for d 6days. My return ticket, a 6days New york city pass. Them doctors report. Which other document do i need to take along. Do i still need to hold d conference invitation? What are my chances with d POE officials? Pls ur contributions are welcomed base on experience. Thanks. Just worried

Hi buchnel

I'm guessing you eventually travelled after Easter. How did your POE go? Please enlighten as I'd like to learn how you managed to visit a different place other than what you stated during your interview. Thank you.
