Bros, don't you feel El- Rufai should have rather use the feeding fund to provide better learning environment for the pupils?

Impossible. To award how many contracts?. To wait till what year?. Basic education is RIGHT. Amechi built very beautiful model schools and people blamed him that there were no teachers and no pupils inside 5hem. We have to forget PDP/Jonathan way of doing things. Maybe when we retrieve Dasuki 's $2.1bn and jail all of them including the firmer president we can then begin to tackle "what PDP did not want you to see in Kaduna State for 16 years".

If i were governor i won't even do anything on buildings till I employ teachers, then I would ply for all available donor funds internationallybto start rebuilding schools. The pupils are there, graduates are unemployed you are talking about buildings.

Goodluck Clueless Jonathan was happy for Bill Gates to eradicate Polio and Gordon Brown to secure schools while he stole money for elections. May we not have anybody like that evil, fake smile con man again IJN

I think I see reason why we should applause the govt for the effort of feeding the children, becos in that part of the country many children are turn almijiris because of the poor financial state of their parents and after offering the children a free education the govt also fulfill the promise of daily feeding I think it a move towards the right direction

For your information, Kaduna State has given out Contract for the construction of Desks and chairs for Four Hundred Primary Schools this first quarter of 2016. Another Four Hundred is scheduled for the second quarter of 2016. So please enquire before running your mouth.

Point of correction on you first sentence, "these are the pictures Nigerian leaders don't want you to see." It is not an APC thing, the PDP is even more guilty of this sleaze. Just to remind you of your stinking hypocrisy, Kaduna state has been ruled by the PDP for 16 years of financial boom while APC has been there for just 8 months at a time of recession. What is the wisdom in expecting APC to clean up in 8 months of recession, a huge mess which PDP couldn't clean in 16 years of plenty? undecided

Now to the main topic of discussion, I just laugh at the wisdom of the 'well-fed' people who keep screaming 'misplaced priorities.' There is no doubt that furniture are needed in the schools, however I can assure you that even with the finest furnishing and the most beautiful architecture, attempting to educate a child with an empty stomach is nothing but a futile and worthless endeavour. Especially in rural areas where some parents can barely afford to feed their kids, the importance of an assurance of a single meal a day for their kids can never be overemphasised. If you have ever been to some northern rural areas, you should be able to appreciate what I talk about. This program will in no small way, encourage a lot of parents to ensure their kids go to school and stay in school. With a larger population being educated, what could be more important than human capital development?....

The most basic needs of man are FOOD, CLOTHING and SHELTER. There is a reason why FOOD always comes before SHELTER in that list.

Hypocrite?...

Can you honestly come in front of an international audience to debate the benefits of the 'meal-a-day' policy compared to 'stomach infrastructure?... Is this what politics reduces people to?... What is stomach-infrastructure?... Probably a once in a year sharing bags of rice and live chicken to workers and policemen who you already pay salaries?...

At least I can authoritatively tell you that the meal-a-day policy would boost human capital development in the states concerned as it will definitely encourage a lot of parents to send their kids to school. The effectiveness of teaching and learning in a full stomach cannot also be overemphasised when compared with teaching a bunch of hungry kids. The meal-a-day policy will also employ directly and indirectly, a lot of people who will do the cooking and serving, not to talk of those who will supply the food items daily.

Now kindly tell me what stomach infrastructure aims to achieve on the short, medium or long term which makes you want to equate it to the meal-a-day policy?

Why embark on a stupid program of feeding the pupils when the pupils have no comfortable learning environment

Which is important?

APC and misplaced priority. undecided

This illiterate has started again. So is it APC's fault that there are no furniture for the pupils? If you are objective as you have always claimed, you should condemn pdp which ruled the state for 16 years without providing the comfortable environment. And besides, like what the other poster said, you cannot learn well without serving your stomach and the free meal will encourage parents to send their children to school.

Nonsense

I never said serving meals is the primary aim of govt, but you can quote me anywhere when I say human capital development is one of the most important responsibilities of any government especially in developing economies like ours. Strategies like this to encourage people to go and stay in school especially in the educationally disadvantaged northern Nigeria is a welcome development as long as it is sustainable. The positive effects of human capital development like this will only be felt in the long term. Unfortunately, a typical African only sees the short term, hence to many, it would be very difficult to appreciate the potential value of such a program.

And yeah, about the furniture, it is important, and I suppose the government in the state in question already has plans to sort that out based on their budget. But then, we can never underestimate the futility of teaching kids on an empty stomach.

These are the pictures the governor unfortunately doesn't want you to see. And it ties in with the typical APC leadership style - Ignore the basic essentials you're supposed to provide, and focus on the cosmetic and unsustainable political gestures that will only earn you quick and easy brownie points from the gullible.
This man couldn't provide desks, teachers and laboratory infrastructure, he skipped them all for this recurrent expenditure that will do nothing to improve the QUALITY of education in those schools.
This was the exact same way a certain governor employed Twitter shills and media jesters to whitewash his image with endless propaganda for all of 2012, 2013 and 2014, until the crash in oil prices exposed him for the wasteful, shortsighted, and totally CLUELESS leader he really was ('Oil prices have fallen, so my hands are tied. I can't pay your salaries. in the mean time, pray for the state. Bye').

And the same thing looks to play out in Kaduna soon.
We just dey watch.
