So what you're basically saying is, while God was actually like a magician in the bible, he suddenly stopped performing miracles for reasons known best to him and now works in mysterious ways that suspiciously similar to random chance.

Wisdom is profitable...
This reminds me of another pastor in Kumo ( Gombe) who arrived the town at night from a program at Lagos only to learn that the army & bh are exchanging fire. All vehicles moving towards Yola were stopped & no one was allowed to enter kumo, but this pastor told the army 'he is a chosen & nobody can touch him'. After much pursuance he was left to proceed only for him to receive a bullet at the city gate. He died. Jesus at some points withdrew not because He couldn't perform a miracle but He always let God take the glory.

Well written piece! in my opinion, many of us as xtians do certain outide the scriptures. first of all, it does not matter what title someone holds if he does not understand the scriptures and the leading of the Holy-Spirit, failure and disaster will be the result. in the first instance, Daniel was forcefully thrown in to the Lion's den (it was not his own doings) but this prophet on his own entered the den, wrongest decision! Moreso, the Bible says as many as led by the Holy-Spirit are the sons of God Rom 8v14, the big question is was he led by God? the obvious answer is NO! if God asks you to go somewhere, He will give you all it takes to be secure and prosper. the scripture he quoted in Is 54v17 was wrongly quoted. it is written no weapon fashioned against you not the one you fashioned against yourself. I pray that God will give christians wisdom in the knowledge of God's word.

The pastor dared God, Daniel was wickedly cast into the den, he didn't took himself there to prove to people he was a prophet. All the miracles Jesus did was never done to impress people. Some were done out of pity, empathy or compassion etc, some of the beneficiaries were even warned not to tell people about it. But today it's procast in our tv stations for pecuniary motives. I am not judging anybody, just making insight from the Holy Scriptures.

It's really saddening the amount of posts written on daily basis to discredit, insult or mock African's/Nigerian's continued belief and trust in God.
What the bishop did was silly and amounts to putting God to test, but that doesn't mean God cannot get u out of a lions den.
Just recently, I came across a post from a white lady telling us they sold religion to black slaves so they can be obedient. She is now telling Africans to throw away the toga of religion and be free from slavery. I'm like, what rubbish, who is she to tell us what to do.

It's true that sometimes, our men of God make a mockery out of God, but that does not mean that God is still not d same for all times.
We should really be careful on how we support the antichrist that has started rearing it's ugly head on social media and deceiving the gullible.
If u don't believe in God, fine, keep it to urself. But please, please and please desist from mocking my creator and sustainance.

Sister I have also noticed this. Most posts are reporting only the most stupid cases of stupidity caused by religious extremists (pastors burning people, prophets entering lions' den, pastors attempting to rape people etc.) so as to gather criticism against religion - and those of us religious ones who are still capable of reasoning will also fall under this criticism. But some time ago, there was a thread about 19 cultists giving up their evil ways because of Christianity; all those people who normally ridicule the religion were no where to be found in that thread.

It's like they're ignoring the advantages of religion and only charging at any single disadvantage at every opportunity...but I won't blame anybody; it's a common human flaw. But the sooner they realise that their NL posts are not even making any impacts on the minds of religious people, the better for them.

I witnessed this scene. Initially we thought it was a joke. Some students were even singing: This one na aro, this one na aro great uites. When the lion attacked the deranged pastor, we tried our best to distract the lions by shouting and throwing stone into the cage but it was too late. Those are the good old days when you can survive on N2500 in a month as a student. Some people today are still like pastor Abodunrin expecting God to do everything for them miraculously. To such people nothing happen naturally...No wonder pastors and Alfas are smiling to the banks at the expense of their ignorance...
