You have not done anything wrong my dear. Most organization have their established salary structure, it does not mean that any amount you quote during interview will be paid as quoted (it is still open for negotiation). If you quote higher than amount earmarked for that position and the company find you suitable and want to engage you, they will call you for further negotiation. But if you quote lower and they find you suitable, some companies will either pay you what is earmarked for that position or start you with their entry point salary. Just pray they find you suitable for the position. |

AmiLaHoit:some interviewers will still insist you should be specific, they don't even want ranges like 50k-80k..i've been in such situation,it doesn't work all the time..some interviewers already know this sef,so before you finish with ur grammar, they'll just cut you short and tell you to be specific. 1 Like |

When next you asked such question, you give an annual estimate, and not monthly. Your offer letter will always carry cumulative annual salary. So if for example you have 100k in mind, you quickly multiply by 12 which gives you #1200000. It sounds more professional when you say something like "an annual take home of approximately #1200000 will be ok. Remember always approximate the figure and don't make it fixed. This will imply it could be less, or that amount, or preferably more. 2 Likes |

fhaty1986:you may be wrong.but I don't think anything is wrong.if your level is above 50k they'll definitely give it to you.+ I guess the 50k is ok by you.it may not be enough but you can make do with it,since all that could come out of you is 50k.you must have thought of it one time or the other that even if I can just get a job of 50k,I'll manage.I guess that's where the problem came from its not by mistake,it was your wish.anyways...congrat.there wil be increase. |

chy200:Do you know about a thread officially for this opening on NL? Some Management Trainees have been called and taken up their letters xef. As I typed this, Executive trainees (Engineers) are having their medicals. They said it will be in batches, so be hopeful. BTW, did u do the test, what did u get to the last stage? |

The least any graduate with minimal or no experience should ever mention is N70,000. It can go as high as N120,000 - 150,000 depending on the industry or sector. |

fhaty1986: This is what happens when graduates and other jobseekers don't do a proper research before attending interviews. A simple basic research about the payscale of the firm you are going to for most level of new recruits, an industry wide research as well as your own personal assessment based on experience and qualifications.... simple things we can't do, to think out of the box we find too tasking! It depends on the position you are interviewed for. If its a cleaner, it may be too high, if its a graduate level with some experience it may be too low and if its for a trainee, it may be ok |

Cutehector:Am I missing something here? It should depend on what position you are applying for now? You are paid based on the perceived value you are bringing to the company. So 50k is both good and bad. It would be better if you gave a description of what you actually applied for. |

fhaty1986: It is even better u quoted something low than quoting some thing too high. As one of the earlier posters said, if u did well in the interview generally, the low salary u jst quoted will not stand as a hindrance. They will pay u ur worth when u get ur offer letter. All the best. 1 Like |

My dear relax ur nerves, just pray u are employed which is based on ur performance and they will surely pay u within the company's salary structure. Most of u crucifying OP gat no jobs, some are even earning less. Let's be realistic here tho 50K is small with regards to our economy but then if most of u are offered, u will gladly accept it and here u are saying all sorts. 1 Like |
