Bros, if you're going to Calabar, take Ajaokuta, thru 9th Mile, thru Umuahia, thru Ikot Ekpene, thru Odukpani to Calabar. Very simple. No go Makurdi or Benin City or PH na Israelite Journey be that o. 4 Likes 1 Share |

Take Abuja to Lokoja-Ajaokuta-Enugu-Abakaliki-Abaomege-Itigidi-Calabar. That should be d SHORTEST route. Ask about d bypass to Enugu town when U reach Opi junction in Nsukka. Apart from small stretches of bad roads in Ajaokuta and around Amudo to Abaomege in Ebonyi state,d rest is generally smooth. Thank me later. 5 Likes |

When u get to Enugu do Okigwe turn right through ABSU to Amasiri very Good roads. Amasiri to Aba Omege to Itigidi to Ugep. then do Ugep to Calabar. getting to PH is a merry go round whatever be the route. |

@dokoloye the abakiliki-abaomege stretch is very bad except of course its better with the dry season |

kingreign: Thanks. So much. Basically i am asking because I need to have an idea of road conditions, because I would rather take a longer rote, if I can maintain 130km/hr than a short route that causes me to do an average of 40km/hr to 60km/hr because the road is not good. Thanks again. So option 1 and 2 and 3 are out, seems it is option 4 you recommend |

FEGEITOK: I know the route to Calabar like the back of my hands. I will always suggest you follow the way I told you cos that's where I always take and I get to Calabar within time range I calculated. I wish you're going during Easter, I could have driven my car along while you drive yours. Convoy things. |

FEGEITOK:yeah, its d same route, but his own requires that wen U reach Enugu town, U drive to Okigwe in Imo state, then come back to Afikpo and Abaomege in Ebonyi which can take U up to 2 and half hrs at least, instead of driving 50mins to Abakaliki d capital of Ebonyi state and like 40 mins to Abaomege. The bad stretch is not really too long, like say 10KM on d whole and has been graded b4 this last Christmas,so all U'll have to contend wt is d dust. 1 Like |

You guys are terrible navigators, this guy is asking for advice on best routes and yet you are all competing on how to get him lost on the road. |

nathanjnr: Absolutely agree, no need to go to port. Also no need to go to Benin Your route adds 31 miles (approx. 50km) compared to dokoloye That's approximately an hour's drive, is the route better in terms of road network quality?

dokiOloye: When you get to Opi junction at Nsukka. Take the road on your left, don't go straight to 9th Mile, you will come out at Abakpa Nike ( I stand to be corrected) where you have Air force. I know you are not travelling with heavy duty truck because the road is restricted. I think they call the place you qill burst out, Abakiliki Road. Don't go to PH or Benin, its a merry-go-round. Safe trip. This is what i use to navigate Nigeria. No data needed, no internet needed, no phone needed. I'm sorry if it will be too tiny for some. I will try and enlarge it and post. 1 Like

FEGEITOK: If you are taking this route, don't go to Aba, go to Umuahia and take Umudike road to Ikot Ekpene. Some stretches of that route is very bad. |

FEGEITOK: I don't agree to some of your mileage. I don't know how you are calculating it. But no stress, waiting patiently for your documentation. Safest trip broda. You shall go and come back safely in Jesus Name. Amen. Security tips: 1. If you finally take Okigwe route, please do not climb any fruit you see on the road, be it Tomato, Orange, water melon, carrot, pure water bag, etc. They are normally laden with nails and thrown on the road by armed robbers. 2. If you take Umudike route, please do not stop to urinate, buy anything whatsoever, or give lift to anybody until you get to Ikot Ekpene. (Except you pick one or two pretty girls at Umudike school gate ) |

Route 7: Abuja - Lokoja - Ajaokuta - Enugu - Okigwe -Afikpo-Amasiri - Abaomege I do think there is a road from Enugu to Afikpo without one going through Okigwe. Guessing that road is off Enugu-Ph express around 4corners then u take left. This way also leads to the Enugu law school and Esut. Road condition= very good. Please confirm Or alternatively, discuss with a driver of a transport company that ply that route weekly(abj-calabar route ). Autostar does that route. |
Re: Abuja-Calabar (8/2/16) and Calabar-Abuja(10/2/16) Trip Diary by nathanjnr(m): 9:25pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
Yes I agree with you. There is a route from Enugu that bypasses okigwe but you join in just before you get to Amasiri. but you must get to Amasiri. i heard its a VERY GOOD ROAD... note the emphasis. was constructed through the hometown of the deputy senate president. but that means you have to get to 9th Mile take some village called Abia in Udi and come out at Four Corner so all you need to do is cross the express. If you have to bypass Enugu through the Opi route..... you are better off that is if the Abakiliki - Abaomege road was worked on. Safe Journey Bro. |
