Chisom Chikatara closes in on CHAN record Super Eagles sensation at the CHAN 2016 competition in Rwanda Chisom Chikatara has been the early sparkle early light in the tournament, scoring a hat-trick in the opening Super Eagles game against Niger, before following it up with a strike against Tunisia in the second game scoring four goals in two games joining an elite group of strikers who have graced the CHAN competition. The Abia Warrior striker’s goal against Tunisia brought him level with South Africa’s Bernard Parker, the second highest goal scorer in the CHAN competition with four goals from the last competition in South Africa, and a goal away from equaling Zambia’s Given Singuluma who scored 5 goals enroute his nations 3rd place finish in the 2009 competition hosted by Ivory Coast, a feat Chisom has achieved in fewer games. The Abia state indigene has the world at his feet right now, with the possibility of breaking and setting a new record within sights or even claiming the Most Valuable Player (MVP) crown from the current holder Ejike Uzoenyi. Though the realisation of this would require he puts in extra effort against Guinea in the final group game and hopefuly drive the Eagles beyond the quarter-final round to the height of desired goals and glory.

Yes football flow in my vein and my blood if checked on a second by seconds daily should be green white green but Nigeria have to watch it closely.Guinea can conceed and they can score aswell,Guinea like to be a spoiler or giant killer.I think i know this country football as much as i know Nigerian football if not better.Guinea teams are compact, workaholic and they always play as team with flowing one two touch passes but they lack discipline and mental strength to grind out results hence this country is under achievers. Unlike Nigeria,Guinea teams are very good winning away games but when least expected of them over confidence will see the same team loose a winnable match at home, this is not a game of home and away so we can take care of Guinea. My token on this game is that,Nigeria will probably score in first half but what i don't have solution for is our second half under performance,we should perform better than we do in first half to beat Guinea,Guinea may not play well in first half but they will throw everything they've got to Nigeria in the second half.I will be at ease if we can score two goals or lead by two goals in first half and try to negotiate the second half to qualify. What is my verdict?i am sure we will not be defeated by Guinea, which automatically implies we will qualify to the next round but it will not be easy, our boys should work very very hard to see us overcome this sturbon team. Next to the knock out. 2 Likes |

jieta:says who? if we lose to guinea and Tunisia beat Niger both guinea and Tunisia will go through with 5 points each while we crash out with 4, so the best for us is not to play for a draw rather go for the 3 maximum points against guinea to avoid stories that touch, i never forget wetin guinea do us here for naija 3 years ago by playing out a 2 all draw with us here at the Abuja national stadium and the rest is history, you know the rest of the story. we fail to qualify for the AFCON |

Ivory Coast and Rwanda has qualified for the quarterfinals of the 2016 African Nations Championship as Group A came to a close on Sunday. Amavubi stumbled to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Morocco, but their earlier wins – including one against the Elephants – ensured they finished at the top of the log and will face Group B’s runners-up (likely to be Cameroon or DR Congo) in Kigali on Saturday. In Butare, Ivory Coast claimed a 4-1 win over a Gabon team which put up a good fight for roughly an hour before being outclassed by Michel Dussuyer’s men. lets go there |

Super Eagles manager Sunday Oliseh says he is planning paramount to stop Guinea’s free-flowing football in Tuesday’s African Nations Championship Group C decider slated for Stade Mganda, Rubavu. Oliseh describes Guinea as a good side that is capable of beating any team if underrated, adding that having watched them against Tunisia on Friday, his players will have to double up their efforts against the pacy Syli Stars strikers. The Nigeria manager pointed out that staying behind to study Guinea is paying off afterall because it has given the coaching crew a clearer picture of how to approach the match. “It was cool we waited behind to study Guinea closely in their match against Niger since we are playing them next,” Oliseh told Completesportsnigeria.com. “Guinea play good football and it is our duty to stop them from playing their free flowing football on Tuesday. “No team should be underrated in this tournament. I have seen them play and they are side to be serious with and I am happy with the mentality of my players “My team will continue to improve as the tournament continues. “We are not there yet, but we’ll keep working and fighting until the cup is won even though I have said winning the trophy is no do-or-die affair because we are going through a rebuilding process. “We are still a work in progress.” Nigeria need at least a draw against Guinea to pick a quarter-final ticket while Guinea must win to pick a slot in the knockout stages. http://www.completesportsnigeria.com/37822-2/

Home Eagles Land In Ruvabu, Vow To Beat Guinea The home-based Super Eagles arrived in Rubavu on Sunday for their last Group C game against Guinea declaring that they will go all out for a win against the Syli Stars despite needing just a point to secure their passage to the African Nations Championship quater-finals, reports Completesportsnigeria.com. The Eagles arrived at their Gorilla Hotel base in Rubavu at around 1.10pm local time (12.10pm Nigerian time). Sunday Oliseh’s men will confront fellow West Africans Guinea at the 5,000 seater Umuganda Stadium on Tuesday. The match will be played simultaneously with the game between Tunisia and Niger at the Kigali Regional Stadium. The Eagles need just a point to secure their passage to the quater-finals. Meanwhile, home-based Super Eagles players have expressed their desire to go all out for a win in the game against Guinea on Tuesday. “We know a draw will be enough for us to make it to the next round, but we will go all out for a win,” Prince Aggreh told Completesportsnigeria.com on their arrival in Rubavu. Forward Tunde Adeniji also said they are in high spirits ahead of the game and are looking to secure maximum points against the Syli Stars. “The only thing that is on our mind going into the game against Guinea is a win and nothing else,” the Sunshine Stars player said. “It’s risky to play for a draw. Instead we will fight hard to beat them.”

Nigeria will continue their march for a first-ever CHAN crown should they at least pick a draw with Guinea in a final Group C clash in Rubavu on Tuesday. Kick-off time is 3pm Nigerian time. Nigeria are top of the group with four points from two matches, but the first round section is still very much wide open with all four teams still in with a mathematical chance of reaching the knockout rounds of the tournament. Both Tunisia and Guinea are on two points after they drew their first two matches, while Niger are bottom of the standings on a point. Victory by any margin on Tuesday will guarantee the Eagles top spot in Group C, and a quarter–final date with the second–placed team in Group D, which will be determined when qualified Zambia and Mali face off on Wednesday. A draw would be enough for qualification, as Nigeria has a two–point margin on second –placed Guinea and Tunisia, but should Tunisia achieve a high–score win over Niger Republic, top spot may not be guaranteed. oya ooooooooohhhhhh MOD, lalasticlala lets go there |
