definitely heading to the border, the police have being left with such a bigger role manning our border and those pesky cattle rustlers grin
the national police has also made changes. They have categoriesd regions. Some regions like north east and areas prone to cattle rustling have been categorised as 'operatiinal areas' from now on, only ecperienced service personnel will serve in these operational areas, new recruites with few or less years of experience wont serve these regions.

Money Money Money

Nigeria has more important things to spend on than JF-17s and other shiny fighter, and with the current oil prices being as they are...

It makes sense for Pakistan to muster a huge airforce... you guys (@Pakistanilad) face India who have an impressive list of Heavy (they can blot out the sun with their Su-30MKIs) and Medium fighters (s.exy Mirage 2000's everywhere)*.

Nigeria has no such problems... Cameroon has a whole 5 MB-326s, Chad has 3 MiG-29's which have been ordered and never heard of again and Niger has a whole 2 Frogfoots...

They have bigger fish to fry and more logical purchases to make. And RSA, Angola and Uganda have fallen into the same trap in the past.

Best strategy would be:

- 12 or so JF-17 to replace the F-7's in the point defense role
- 6 or so Su-34 for long range strikes across Nigeria
- augmented by a large number of 24 or so light trainers for training and localized strike missions (cheap to operate, versatile and do not require lots of training to be effective)**.

In interstate conflicts, massing these numbers will be enough to achieve complete air superiority over any of their neighbors.

And the cost will only come to: ~$780 mil, well under budget and leaves another ~$700 million for the rest of the airforce (46 Super Puma OR 58 Gazelle OR 40+ Mil 17's OR 13 C-27 Spartans etc etc etc

But hey, thats just my opinion and I only bothered with this academic game because I am bored out of my skull right now.

*Luckily the HAL Tejas is an absolute P.O.S
** Hongdu JL-8 is cheap at only $10 mil a pop, but Aero L-159 Alca is the same price and can be configured for both western and eastern weapnons.
Well from what i have heard from multiple Nigerian sources you guys are looking for more air power to completely destroy taliban twin sister the boko haramis but as China and Pakistan have better military relation with Nigeria so the better option for a heavy jet would be j 10b

We already knew this.

But what is exciting is the mention of the one damaged by power lines years ago getting repaired.
Jap, also read its being repaired!! Great news!!
Now bring on the Rooivalk MK2 !!!

Six trainer versions?

I think this jet is Turkey really. I haven't seen a serious discussion among the Nigeria camp (professionally and Enthusiasts) on wether this is the best offer.

The Chinese J-10 multi-role jet I believe if Nigeria is looking for a single engine fighter would be better. Anyway it isn't an open tender where would know what other countries offer.
You make a great point Mike!! Why did Nigeria not hold an open tender for a new multi-role/fighter?

Yeah I saw that.

But I assumed "repaired" was a similar euphemism for the C130's being "overhauled"... ie: "pending further funding" angry
Overhauled? I thought the upgrading of the avionics was the overhaul?

Staying under the rain for a couple of days don't mean much. Can a body continuously receive punishing weather, no.

With the JF-17 multi-role fighter, it was and has always been a forgone conclusion. The Nigerian Air Force was always going to get JF-17s from PAC/CATIC.

The relationship we have with the Pakistanis, especially in the Air Force is very very strong. 50+ years of a strong relationship with the Pakistani Air Force ensured that we were always going to get them.

The JF-17 as well as the J-10, MIG-29 & SU-30 were the only other options. Two engine jets were off the question, leaving the JF-17 and the J-10.

?? Don't guys have freedom of speech in Kenya?? Why would you be arrested for posting a photo
freedom of speech in kenya is there in plenty. Infact it has been misused in the past.....
But since terrorists started targeting kenya, that line has been crosed by the government. So new law was created in which later the high court regectet most of the laws (like tapping phone lines without court order)... but some clauses if the law were left to become law. In order for citizens not to spread propaganda which futhers terrorist's agenda. It has now become illegal to post or share any matetial from terrorist website (especially bad stuff that seem to justfy their attacks, or glorify their achievements . It is also illigal to post graphic images of kenyans or anyonr on kenyan soil who is a victim of a terrorist attack. ....

If you do that then you end up in court, ofcourse since we are an imperfect nation, if you break that law and you are a muslim, then thats automatic double trouble.... if you are muslim and of somali origin, thats even worse, you'll be guilty till proven otherwise..... thats the predicament we find ourselves in.... but when it comes to other stuff, freedom of speech is freeeee, last year I saw an angry guy infront of presidents office shouting "you should resign mr.president, i am disapointed", he kept shouting for like 5 minutes..and the ehole time armed police were just staring at him..... in the old days if you said something like that you would end up in a toture chamber. Which were located 500meters from the predidents office..seriously

Special forces vehicles

I've always wondered with these vehicles, what happens when it starts to rain/snow?

Reason why I hate those open body SF vehicles, if terrorist AK-47 dont kill the SF, heavy rain, sand storm, whirlwind, super hot sunshine will bastardize the men, degrade their equipment, and weaken their bodily stamina. I have those type of uncovered open body special forces vehicles.

Chinese new WS-13 engine for JF-17 is almost ready. NAF has two choices of engines. JF-17 offers Nigeria technology transfer on how to build a 4th generation jet fighter, J-10 does not offer that. Tech transfer is priceless and a great reward.

Those vehicles are more friendly in case they want to exit the vehicle faster. The closed vehicle will not be best in that regard.

That's the thing, in an ambush, they'll all die. The weather alone is enough to even break them.

The best vehicle i've seen is definitely the vehicle proforce is offering for it's Special Combat Vehicle category. My only problem is, there is no provision for a GPMG for the front passenger gunner.

The Gurza 2 from Azerbaijian is also nice, but it does provide enough protection.

Pound for pound, the Gurza 2 satisfies on all parameters and is the best SF vehicle I've ever seen.

Read for yourself - JF-17 is extremely controversial with the manufacturers making huge claims with serious contradictions relating to the engines (even the Russians questioned elements of the Engines performance - an engine they designed), radar(some claim it detection range is over 100km, others say its only 70km for a platform with an RCS of 3), payload, max-speed and even the evolution of its design
http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/fighterplanes/texts/articles/jf-17specifications.html

Basically: Its a very controversial platform and very little is actually known about it. Hence the arguments.
