It will be repaired and pls bro don't castigate a party that they ain't working.

Someone who choose to work is his idea not something synonymous to party.

As far as those structures are concentrated on the island, I am not interested. Urban development should be holistic, not just concentrated in a few square meters.
I don't see Manhattan replicated all over New York.

Lagos is not included in your regionooo. Your region is Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun. I love Lagos too. We all(Nigerians) own it.

You are wrong brother.

1. Lagos is located in south west region

2. The kings that rule in Lagos are "obas"

3. Lagos is predominantly owned by the Egbas, Ijebus and Aworis.

4. The traditional dialect being spoken is yoruba language.

Lagos is home for all because of th accommodating spirit of the yorubas.

Jealous about what ? Do I know you? Do you know me ?How are you so sure I'm not one of the investors on the project you are attributing to tinubu ? I can change my mind whenever I want. that's why you shouldn't count your chickens before they hatch.
Even if Tinubu created enabling environment as governor , was he employed as state governor to create a non enabling environment? Why praise him? In a sane society,a governor shouldn't even be seen or heard, except during press conferences.
The basics of a functioning society such as uninterrupted electricity, organized housing and roads, etc. are the rights of the people, irrespective of who the governor or political party.

Don't look at it that way, all over the world there are parts of a city where high rise buildings are more desirable(Think New York Manhattan, downtown Dubai) owing to the premium cost of Land there, The Mainland is more attractive to the industries and factories not forgetting that there are parts of the mainland with high rise buildings too (Bank Anthony Maryland, Opebi axis) ...The mainland is huge, it needs more of Infrastructure to meet the need of its teeming, bursting at the seams population than this kind of buildings which are privately driven anyway.

Maybe i will make (or you should) make a thread about Lagos Mainland to balance the equation....Peace
at least the places you mentioned above are given specifics when they are mentioned. Unlike this 'pic of lagos' trending everywhere. 'pix of lagos island' is more specifics and helpful. It looks like a fault we can overlook now, but soon we'l be creating a larger gap than the sandfilled portions of Eko Atlantic City.

My own is let the places be specified. Cant take a part for the whole.

Designing a State-of-the-Art Medical Facility in Nigeria

Rebecca Zinn

DBI Architects

After a harrowing first-hand experience with the precarious state of Nigeria’s medical system, Nigerian expatriate and American citizen Philip Njowusi embarked on a project that would not only provide a state-of-the-art medical facility in Lagos, the country’s most populated city, but also attract highly skilled medical practitioners to Nigeria. As the site of this innovative facility, Njowusi selected a location as extraordinary as the project itself: Eko Atlantic, a multibillion-dollar, environmentally sustainable, ultramodern planned development—to be constructed on four square miles of land reclaimed from the Atlantic Ocean. Situated south of Lagos and bordering Victoria Island, the city is expected to be an economic boon for the West African subregion, creating an oasis of opportunity for Lagos’s 17.5 million inhabitants.

DBI Architects, in collaboration with SmithGroup JJR, approached the design of the Eko Atlantic Medical Center with the objective of creating a self-contained, easily accessible campus that provides functionally separate, yet stylistically integrated, medical and residential spheres. After completion, the city of Eko Atlantic is expected to accommodate 400,000 residents and 250,000 daily commuters; the city’s primary medical facility, then, must have the capacity to treat both the routine and critical health concerns of such a large population.

To fulfill these requirements, the architects designed three central campus structures totaling 1,011,570 SF. The largest (370,900-SF) medical building, to be constructed during Phase I of the project, provides space for 150 private in-patient beds within its boomerang-shaped elevated structure and houses the Center’s interventional platform, which includes an emergency room, imaging suites, operating rooms, laboratories, specialty clinics and sleep labs, a pharmacy, and a cancer center.

Also located in this building are the Center’s materials management and operational systems areas; its kitchen, dining area, and café; and its administrative offices and conference rooms. Phase II of the project includes the construction of a second medical building (260,998 SF) that also accommodates 150 beds. These two buildings arc into each other, as if they are about to embrace, across an open healing garden and connect via a main corridor that features the facility’s main lobby, information and security desks, and outpatient registration area.

On the northeastern corner of the campus, a 26-floor high-rise (379,673-SF) soars above the site’s other buildings; primarily a luxurious residence providing 100 apartments for hospital staff, this structure also houses outpatient medical offices and labs on its first few floors. The medical buildings and the residential/office tower each have separate entrances to access the campus’s 1,200-car parking garage, located on the site’s northwestern corner. Similarly, the tower’s outpatient offices and residences have separate entrances to minimize the impact of public areas on private space.

DBI and SmithGroup JJR’s overall design aesthetic was to create a futuristic, open, and high-tech campus that united its buildings in style and concept but articulated their distinctly different functions through shape. A key element that integrates the buildings is an emphasis on the continual circulation of fresh air. The two medical buildings are oriented along a north-south axis and elevated above the street level, so that ocean breezes are channeled through the buildings’ healing garden and, then, toward the residential tower. Featuring an open core, the high-rise is able to take advantage of these crosswinds, which continually refresh the building’s interior. In addition, each unit’s balcony extends deep into the apartment’s interior to provide ventilation within the living space.

The fully perforated, permeable skin that sheaths the tower is another subtle, yet functionally important, design feature that promotes air circulation and cooling. Taken as a whole, the open, yet controlled, space of these three buildings conveys a sense of respiration that promotes healing and relaxation. The shapes of the tower and the medical buildings are unexpected and unique; the verticality of the high-rise anchors the entire campus and establishes the Center’s identity as strong and healthful.

To distinguish between the buildings’ residential and medical functions, the architects designed the medical buildings to be lower to the ground with a horizontal orientation, a feature emphasized with the addition of green roofs and gardens. While the tower’s height enables residents to enjoy ocean views, the two medical buildings feature open, five-story glass atria on their south façades, providing access to beautiful ocean vistas, and on their north façades, overlooking Eko Atlantic’s glittering cityscape.

Doofus grin
And this was Tinubu's doing right?? Y'all need ya brain checked

My lady,

Like it or not it was Tinubu's doing. It was the foundation laid by Tinubu. Lagos Bar Beach, had so encroached into Ahmadu Bello way, cutting a dual carriage way into half, due to Ocean surge. When Tinubu started works thru a South African consortium then, the OBJ FG, stopped him initially. Ogunlewe, who was the minister of works, decieved OBJ and accussed Tinubu of seeding our bothers to foreigners. The FG called Julius Berger and sand-filled the whole of Bar-Beach(a wrong approach). Over 4billion naira was spent on that project. In less than 15 months the whole sand-filling effort was rubbished by the ocean again. When OBJ realised he was decieved, he directed that FG should hand over the project back to Lagos State government. Tinubu even extracted a promise from OBJ, that the project will not be hijacked or subverted by the FG in the future, to which OBJ obliged.

Tinubu now took over the project, called in the SA engineering firm, who successfully arrested the ocean surge and "diverted" the water further down Ibeju Lekki. Tinubu had come up with a proposal of a new city on the reclaimed beach. To ascert their prediction, the South African consortium offered to build a Five-star hotel on the claimed land.....

Fashola came in and continue where Tinubu stopped.......... see a story of the details below

Lagos Blames Ogunlewe for Bar Beach Surge

For allegedly sitting on a presidential directive to hand over the bar beach to Lagos State, Minister of Works, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe, was yesterday blamed by the Tinubu Administration for the recurrent ocean surge on Victoria Island.
By Shaka Momodu, 05.05.2005

The heavy down pour in the metropolis on Tuesday created a massive flood in Victoria Island. The ocean surge pushed the sand barrier onto the road effectively cutting off one lane of Ahmadu Bello way. Motorists were forced to use only one lane of the dual carriage way causing massive traffic on Wednesday morning.
Consequently, Lagos State sent an urgent message to President Olusegun Obasanjo to take direct control of the matter by implementing the directive he issued in July last year to pave way for the investor to start work on the project.
Citing a directive issued by the President to the minister on July 12, 2004, asking the minister to come to a formal agreement or arrangement to hand over the bar beach to the state government, Lagos said Ogunlewe has deliberately frustrated the execution of this directive because of his political ambition.
Lagos spoke through a delegation of the state commissioners including Dele Alake (Information & Strategy), Rauf Aregbesola (Works & Infrastructure), Akeem Gbajabiamila (Physical Planning) and Managing Director of Lagos State Waterfront and Tourism Corporation, Engr. Segun Oniru.
The state government said the annual ritual of pouring sand into the ocean and wasting lots of taxpayer’s money preferred by the minister will not lead to a permanent solution to the problem.
It said the step taken by the state government is in line with the policy of Federal Government of attracting foreign direct investment as Messers Energy BV International will rehabilitate the bar beach at no cost to the state or federal government.
Explaining the origin of the problem, Aregbesola said it was due to man-made incursion into the beach between 1908 and 1912 to provide a deep berth for vessels seeking to enter the Lagos harbour. This, he said, led to the building of the east and west moles.
Gbajabiamila, in a statement read at a press conference, said the investors have found a solution to the problem, saying “the problem will be solved by the construction of a two kilometer long permeable groynes east of the east mole plus a managed beach replenishment programme.”
Noting that Lagos State government initially reached an agreement with another firm, Entech, which required $100 million funding and entailed counterparts funding by the state and federal governments, Gbajabiamila said the failure of the initial deal led the state government to search for other interested consultants and that the search produced the new consultant.
He said the new consultant/investor is ready to mobilize funds independently for the project on the condition that Federal Government provides gurantee that no federal agency would disturb the project once it takes off. It was the need to secure this understanding that made the state Governor, Bola Almed Tinubu, wrote the President on July 7, 2004 asking for the endorsement of the project.
In his remarks, Information and Strategy Commissioner, said the directive issued to Ogunlewe by the President shows that Obasanjo has swung his support for the project and was determined to facilitate the take-off of the project..
Alake said Ogunlewe is worried that the implementation of the Lagos State initiative would put an end to the recurrent ocean waves and thus cease to provide a yearly opportunity for easy money for the boys.
Earlier in the morning, a powerful delegation of the state Executive Council, led by the Deputy Governor, Chief Femi Pedro had visited the scene of the flooded Bar Beach area caused by a tidal wave on Monday morning.

For me what counted here is a continuity of qualitative leadership.

This statement is false. The Lagos State is a strategic partner and owner of the project.

The Eko Atlantic City project received global recognition in 2009, as the Lagos State government and its private sector partners on the Project, South Energyx, received the Clinton Global Initiative Commitment Certificate............ wikipedia

The project is privately funded by South Energyx Nigeria Limited – the developers and city planners, a subsidiary of the Nigeria-based Chagoury Group of companies – working in strategic partnership with the Lagos State Government and supported by the Nigerian federal government..........http://www.ekoatlantic.com/about-us/

Good development for the city of logos and Nigeria. But emphasis should not always be on the island. For me the island is over rated. Not forgetting it's ability to link to different parts of lagos.

Dubai isn't abt structures and new buildings, dubai is dubai bec its has successfully attracted lots of commerce(buying & selling)attracting the whole world to come to Dubai and buy and shop.
Lagos is an indebted state,it won't profit her anything to build all this structures with borrowed funds without any well layed down policy that will be able to generate funds to maintain and develop the new structures like Dubai is doing.
The way forward could be to attract other african nations to come to nigeria and buy and shop, not banning things unnecessary, simply bec it favours one tribe.

When you expect sense.......you see something else

1. Lagos despite being one of the smallest in land mass, yet has the highest population? does that not tell his of the capacity of Lagos to attract people from all works of life?
2. As at the last count, when the whole country was broke, and could hardly pay salaries, Lagos, despite her supossedly huge debt is the only one that needed no bail-out. Or you've not heard that Lagos is the only state that can self-sustain without Oil rent collection from FG
3. I knew you were just a disgruntled bigot. But ask yourself (that's if you've ever been to Lagos) that despite all this tribal-clamour from you and your likes, have Lagos slowed down in development?
