Obafemi Awolowo University Dean Student Affairs (DSA) made a release yesterday with the part "Education is for those that can afford it" boldly written. Is she right? If she is right then it implies that Education is now for the rich.

She is crazy. Well Oshiomole once made a statement like that
And was he wrong? how could parents be able to spend upto 1 million for burial or thanksgiving or baby/house dedication but they will start lamenting when you tell them to pay 150,000 as school fee for their son/daughter in university?

Oluwa mi oooooooooooooooooooooo

From a supposed "educated" Dean, shocking to say the least.

To think that she even made bold to say she passed through UI.

A dean that does not know where and when to use "was" and "were" have no right to say education is not meant for the poor.

I would rephrase it to read "Tertiary Education is meant for only those that can afford it"

Any nation that wants to make progress must ensure that every child gets the basic education...even if it means giving it free.

Just hear yourself is it all parents that are able to do the dedication and thanksgiving with that amount of money? This is not a right yardstick to judge.

No wonder our country has nothing to show up, take a look at other countries education, education should be meant for everyone who's interested not those who can afford it or else we'll never have a good leadership.

The woman must be insane. Funny enough most of them went to school on free education. There are certain things you don't say in public.

The woman must be an educated illiterate. The publication is corroded with errors and she came out to speak trash.

If there are to follow due process, that woman can't rise to become a dean. She was installed in the seat, that's the reason she can spill nonsense to please her Godfathers.

Education is for those that are interested to acquire it...

Basic education should be free for all... and Tertiary Education for those that can Afford it.

"If you think Education is Expensive, try Ignorance"

The word in bolded doesn't necessarily mean one must go to school, some of the things you know where not taught in school, so I'm always surprise when they use this msg only when school is mentioned.

I am disappointed with the quality of English language from the OAU Students Affairs Division.

How can you say that a university is a Citadel?

It can of course be " a citadel of Learning" , but Dr. ( Mrs.) Durosinmi's writing makes me doubt that.

Absolutely Wrong! Poor people with rich brains can get scholarships or loan to study anywhere. Therefore, we could say education is meant for those who are interested to be educated.

For example many years ago, I desired to get a skill from NIIT but I couldn't afford it, guess what ? my parents took a loan so I went to NIIT to study for ccna and a+

Everything is possible, if you believe.
That means they paid for it with handwork and excellence whichever way you must pay
If most Nigerian students went to school on loans, don't you think they would want to work harder, knowing they have gbese and need to do well get a good job to pay for it?. That's what happens in many western schools and Nigerians do very well there.
Why didn't you go to a road side computer college or cyber Cafe? Because you realized the value of NiiT and was ready to pay the price.

How can she use I WERE, I cant really blame her because English is not our native language, but however, as the dean of a great university like OAU, she should be able to afford software like Grammarly, that simple check for little grammatical errors like that.

Affording it doesnt mean in financial terms only. Do you know what it takes to spend all those years in the education system? The will power amd discipline?

This woman has been the Acting Dean, Students Affairs of Great Ife before I gained admission into the school; I am therefore surprised to still see her as the same Acting Dean after I had graduated almost five years later!

What's sh acting if I may ask having served 3 Vice Chancellors!!!

Great Ife Needs Change in Administration wise!!!
