Nigerian Communities: Argentina And Other "unusual" Places

During a conversation with a white friend of mine I mentioned that Nigerians are one of the most diffused people in the world. She was doubtful and wondered if there were any Nigerians in Argentina. I assured her that there must be, but unfortunately could not give her any proof of my claim. cry

Anyone have info on Nigerian communities in Argentina particularly, and any other places around the world where some wouldn't expect to find black people?

Come on, We are in the 21st century!!! Of course there are Nigerians in Argentina, Nigeria has an embassy there for goodness sake!!!!!

Nigerians are well travelled people and wont mind staying in harsh, hostile environments so long as they can acheive their goals.

I wouldnt be surprised if there were Nigerians in Iceland (and of course there are)!!

Well, I know a second generation Naija boy in America who is with the US military. When he was posted to Greenland, he told me he was surprised to find a Naija community there, complete with local African grocery store!

Nigerians are well travelled but I don't think their the most diffuse, I think Chinese and Indians live in more diverse places than we do and I don't think there's a country in the world that you won't find a Brit!

Re: Nigerians In Argentina And Other Unusual Places by iice(f): 3:27pm On Jun 16, 2006
Probably Europe, South America or Back in Africa, depends on where the wind blows lol, or more realistically how my situation turns out.
Re: Nigerians In Argentina And Other Unusual Places by alarinjo(m): 3:48pm On Jun 16, 2006
I hear you. Its all about the wind! If I had to pick a place in South America it would prolly be Brazil or Trinidad. North America is conspicuously absent from your list, any particular reason why?

I was reading the biography of Nwafor Orizu ( He was a popular politician in the eastern region  pre - independence period), he was talking about how he first got to the u.s to study in the 30's and didn't know anybody until he remembered that people in his village used to talk about one man from his village that left for the u.s long time ago, he did some searching and traced him to an apartment in NewYork. His Igbo compatriot told him he left his village for the U.S in 1911.

Nor be today Naija's start to travel, them dey everywhere
