Tell Us About Your Favourite Book by Nobody: 4:11am On Jan 29, 2016 |
Heyyy everyone: this is a simple as it sounds. Write the title of your favourite book of all time and tell us some interesting characters, quotes or moments... My favourite book is "The King of Attolia"; I first read it when I was about 13 even tho I think it's for age 18 and up. I was quite the adventurous child So basically it's about some genius thief who marries a queen who had previously cut his hand off (that being the punishment for thieves in the midcentury ). It's the third book in a series. Its cool and wry and sarcastic and deep. This guy was maimed by that queen and later went to fall in love with her. It's as complex as life is. Has a lot of politics and war strategy weaved through it too..... But my favourite quote from the book is very melodramatic and sentimental and romantic “Tell me you won’t cut out my lying tongue, tell me you won’t blind me, you won’t drive red-hot wires into my ears.” After one moment of gripped immobility, the queen bent to kiss the king lightly on one closed eyelid, then on the other. She said, “I love your eyes.” She kissed him on either cheek, near the small lobe of his ear. “I love your ears, and I love”—she paused as she kissed him gently on the lips—“every single one of your ridiculous lies.” cc: Estharfabian Adaeze003 KingEbukasBlog shut Blossom023 lalasticlala and everyone else na abi d thread is boring 12 Likes |

I love reading crime and mystery books, so my favorite definitely has to be from this genre. I would have chosen any of the Partricia Cornwell series as my favorite, probably "All that remains" or "Postmortem", or even "Angels and Demons" by Dan Brown. Or Stephen king's Shining. These are excellent books. But I'll go for And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. It's in my opinion the best mystery novel ever written. I was hooked till the very end. I love suspense in books and that book served me an overdose of suspense. Let me give a brief synopsis of the book. Eight men arrive on an Island, and each of them claimed to have been invited by Mr and Mrs Owen to stay in their house as guests. But when they all reach the house, they are only welcomed by the housekeeper and cook. Later on the guests would get to understand that U.N Owen, the host who had supposedly invited them, when pronounced as one word, sounds like the word; UNKNOWN, meaning U.N Owen doesn't even exist. But was just an Allusion. Lol. Creepy right? The creepiness doesn't end there. A copy of a nursery rhyme was found framed and hanged on the walls of the rooms of each guest and 10 figurines sat on the dining table. Then suddenly, the guests and staff start dying one by one, and in mysterious fashion. And when someone dies, one of the figurines get broken. And the poem hanged on the walls of the rooms, was a reflection, as well as a prediction of the deaths that occurred. But the big question was; Who was behind the killings? because everything was systematically orchestrated and brilliantly executed, and I think this is where one just has to stop and admire the imaginative brilliance of Agatha Christie. 21 Likes |

Adaeze003:Send me no flowers The pregnancy or whatever... But it was quite an Interesting read, read it like 7years ago but it was amazing. Breaking dawn its a mighty voluminous book tho interesting but iv been on it for close two 6weeks now.. 754pages, When I start,I dont wanna stop but you know I have about other 15textbooks to read too. But overall favorite is 'the pregnancy' .. Its just bad I can't remember the name, but its something along that line..abi motherhood It was basically about a couple who dunno have children yet, it worked for few years but there came the mistake.. She doesn't want an abortion, he doesn't want a baby...yet! It created a crack, they separated tho they still love one another but none wanted to compromise. Well, they tried at some point but their wants were parallel.. So, they went their separate ways. She went through her pregnancy days alone in the first 7months..,in sadness, sorrow and all sort of pains but in all, the coming child gave her a reason to smile. She met some guy when she was about 7months gone and after some series of meetings, they kinda clicked(at least the dude thought).. But all she wanted was for Sean, I think that's his name, to realise there's nothing more important than being a parent. Sean, on the other hand, wanted nothing less than just the two of them,at least for now. He hated children, maybe! Maybe not, but he doesn't want any of those attention seeking creatures now. You know, his beliefs about parenthood were quite different from everyone. He felt having kids, working to provide for them, protecting, nurturing them while having little time for himself and maybe his wife, was the most stupid thing in the world..cause he felt those kids will grow up one day, meet some one else, fall in love, create a family which will become their first priority.. While he,the father will be left at their mercy.. Son; grandpa (sean) is coming for the holiday Grandson; *crying* no, grandpa is weak, lazy, dirty, not cool, not funny, and old school. He's wicked, strict and wants things done his own way, he wants people to help him do virtually everything.. I dont like grandpa, he shouts, he's old and that's not cool Son; grandpa is old, he needs someone to look after him sometimes, so, he's coming so he could spend some time with his family Grandson/wife/granddaughter; why not get a nanny to look after grandpa Son; ok ok ok Such shits scare Sean, he kept thinking about it..growing up, getting old, begging to be loved, to visit, to be understood.. By his kid/s and their kids. But this is my seed...my wife is carrying my seed, my son/daughter.. she(wife) needs me now ,more than ever. Fool, weak, selfish, crazy ..blah blah blah But still, Sean didn't go home to his wife and their baby.. Until,... 3 Likes 1 Share |

Meeen this is difficult . I have read so many great books...Lemme see..... Id say 'The Godfather' Favorite quotes will be 'Great men are not born great, they grow great.' and "Luca Brasi did not fear the police, he did not fear society, he did not fear God, he did not fear hell, he did not fear or love his fellow man. But he had elected, he had chosen, to fear and love Don Corleone." 16 Likes |

Estharfabian: If you have a rich and creative imagination, you'd enjoy reading books, not just because you want to "learn new words". With books, you could create your own vivid mental image of the characters, places, and general setting of the book, from the writers description. And unlike movies, with books, you can actually understand what's going through the mind of each character, their thoughts and feelings, and what exactly it is that propels them into making the decisions they make and doing the things they do. 8 Likes 4 Shares |

Purple Hibiscus—Chimamanda Adichie. though most of secondry school art kids must have had a grip of it esp sets from 2010—2015. it revolves Around the family of Eugene Achike, A religious fanatic and a philantropist. he dosnt get along in any religion that contradicts his roman cotholic way of life. this made him not to visit or have any thing to do with his father who is a traditionalist. We see every thing that happened in the novel through the eye of Kambili who is the object papa's ill behaviour. well in all The Bible and other spiritual books has been my favourite, when it comes to spiritual nourshment and satisfaction. More of the reason why the novel seemes so unique to me is that my Saw name ANIKWENWA was included in the novel. 7 Likes 1 Share |

My favourite book is BEHIND THE IRON CURTAIN. it's all about the second world war, the dispute between the socialist and capitalists. A very interesting book but I lost my only copy like seven years ago I've been trying to get another, I even tried to read it online all to no avail 1 Like |

Anyways my favourite book franchise is that of Harry Potter, I've read the 7 books and watched the 8 movies, I've also played 4 of its games and I practically know everything about the franchise( that's not a joke) , I didn't read the books sequentially so I can't tell how long I read them. My personal favorite in the franchise is Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, mehn that book is damn dope. Potter fans rush to Pottermore because mummy Rowling will be releasing the 8th book very soon. Apart from the 7 POTTER books I've also read, Quidditch through the ages, The tales of beedle the bard, Fantastic Beasts and where to find them, Harry Potter Prequel and one other short potter book I saw on Pottermore in 2014. The book revolves around the life a boy named Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger, he's a student at the distinguished Hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry. I can't explain everything to you guys, you'll just have to buy the book, although I don't think the hard copy is still available so you'll have to buy the soft copy from Bloomberg or Amazon, that's why I cherish the ones I have like collector's item. 4 Likes |

Abbeyunique2:Welcome on board. Really, I lack the right words to describe this great, spectacular, amazing, thrilling, awesome, insighful, mind-blowing, all-round masterpiece beautifully, skilfully, and precisely crafted by a rare brilliant mind. Since I started blazing through its pages I haven't paused for a second. It is one of the best literary work I have ever read. @hightlighted: you are right. We as humans can very much relate to the wizard's rules and as well apply it to our lives. Are you done with the whole series? Or you are still trying to keep up pace like me? Who are your best five characters? What are your 3 favourite quotes asides the wizard's rules? Don't mind my questions sha. 1 Like |

Drefan:I've read everything from wizard first rule to warheart. i've even read the pre richard era titled "debt of bone". my top 3 wizard quotes are 1) rule 1: the best form of magic is a trick. human being are gulible, anybody can believe anything. people would chose believe a lie simply becos they wanted it to be true or they are afraid it might be true. 2) 2nd wizard rule the greatest harm can be caused from best intention. 3) 8th rule: deserve victory: people overwork themselve always looking for the next battle without celebrating the present winning. my favorite characters are in this order: zeddicus zul zorrander cara kaylan amnel richard cypher emperor jagang, i like vilian too |

Ayomipoe:I remember bottled leopard, imagine the whole school believed that the boy is the leopard terrorizing them. thank God that the real culprit was caught. Also, i've been waiting for the third book of the name of the winds. i want to know how kvothe got expelled, how he exacted his vengeance on his parent murderers and what happened to his girlfriend and why he later settled down in a faraway village. kvothe is one of my favorite. very naughty, unrully, yet brilliant and romantic. imagine learning a new whole language in a day. 1 Like 2 Shares |
