monacobull: U c, everybody interviewed was based on referrals. Not that dey applied and got interviewed. Some of d people referred am sure re relations or friends of people working in d company. If ur company had posted d job online for so many people to get to c it, am sure ur company wld have had a hard time picking d best. Some Nigerians Graduate are very good. U people limited ur choice wid ur own hands. Deir is a possibility d interviewer had a discussion wid d cleaner before d interview commenced or that was just his lucky day. But my stand on dis is, their is no way an outsider would know more dan someone who has been working wid an organisation for a period. Ur company Dem selves reduced d chance of Dem getting d best out of d best. Next time wen ur company has a vacant post n put it on jobberman, hot Nigerian jobs etc den u come up wid Nigerian graduates talk, den am sure I and others wld belief u. 8 Likes 1 Share |

significance and moral lesson- paper qualification/good grades isnt always = employability. Dont blame graduates only; blame d 9ja educational system 4 its "la cram well, la pour well, la pass well, la forget well" modus operandi also. 1 Like |

I wonder the kind of job you interviewed graduates for and you still had to think of giving the same job to a cleaner if not gnld, forever etc. I dont believe that job is really meant for graduates in the first instance. Its a kind of job that Secondary School leavers can do. My opinion though. 6 Likes |

Seriously, I agree 100% I handle recruitment in a hotel and I hardly employ BSC graduates cos they have just air of arrogance to offer nothing to show for years of being in school. Most OND/HND graduates communicate better are are hands on and willing to learn. Dont just rely on your certificate I'm a BSC holder but I'm hands on. Now the job world need people to do more, be willing to learn and develop yourselves with new skills this would help people stand out. My 2 kobo input. monacobull: 2 Likes |

I am receiving a few email requests which i guess is about interest in possible or existing vacancies. You can send CV's to my personal email: racoon8995@gmail.com. The interview which held today was in Abuja but there is another possibly coming up in Lagos next week. I will be glad to forward and follow up with your CV's. Will do my best to reply each mail and give you a heads up on the role. We are one. Lets carry each other 8 Likes 2 Shares |

So you are judging millions of job seekers from the few that messed up at your interview?? You amuse me sir. By the way, I would go out on a limb and guess your company isn't based in sciences....coz there is no way a cleaner would best a scientist in a interview. Nigeria is not yet that bad. And lastly, I wasn't among those interviewed. 4 Likes |

Regardless of your grades in school, their are some reality questions you would be asked in an interview about a job and you will just go blank. That is natural. same happened to me when I first got to my office, everything was just so abstract to me including the jargons but with time, I became better at it. spare us this your trash mr. omnisciece 1 Like |

When I tell people that being a graduate doesn't make you educated, the feel insulted. I am not a graduate but at 32 years of age i was made a regional manager of a multinational company . I have people with higher levels of education and nationality working under me. Your level of education means nothing if you are not mentally and emotional matured Whenever we conduct interviews, the level of stupidity displayed by the so called graduates is enough to make one commit suicide. 5 Likes |

The only thing I see here is that you guys are looking for someone with experience in the position that is vaccant, and because you did not advertise only recommendation was made for you how on earth did you want to get the desired result? Now that the cleaner has answered the questions based on practical experience he had gathered in the company does not mean those that came didint know what they were doing. God has blessed the cleaner and that does not imply that he's better than the guys bbeause, I really believe in practical experience rather than theory. God bless Nigerian youth. 2 Likes |

Certificate is useless when the person holding it passed through school without allowing school to pass through him. I know lots of guys who never saw the 4 walls of a university but they are millionaires and have lots of people working under them, the craze about certificate in Nigeria is what i don't understand. Education is good and sweet but allow education to pass through you than you passing through it. Its well. 1 Like |

@monacobull lol I understand your perspective. I also understand the perspective of those who antagonize you. For them their is anger at the job provision system and employers. As I write this I am writing a cover letter for an interview tomorrow. Sitting here wondering what questions they wld throw @ me. As desperate as I am for a job there is no guarantee of getting it. Needless to say I am searching for info on the company n what they do so I can be ready. For the graduates u interviewed they probably didn't come prepared or the questions were just too overwhelming. I have had a blank memory before during an interview. You av no blame tho. Ur the boss reppin a system. Its the graduates who needs to check themselves. For the cleaner he had a headstart. U can't even use that to judge the other guys. Right now I am trying to address a letter to a company. No serious info about the company on the net. So I decided to use "the manager". I am waiting for the human resource to tell me its not right tomorrow. Plus I like multinational companies can u DM me the name. I can apply now 1 Like |

Angelberry: I don't doubt you.. But in the case of the OP's story, it came out of nowhere. the recommendation to try the cleaner was raised by an out of station employee (Someone from a different branch). If the story was such that the cleaner has been interacting with the guy for a period and the guy had studied the cleaner, then I can understand. But again, stranger things have happened.. |

Some times such selection might be based on man no man. There are very intelligent graduates who even came out with a pass or even a third class. But cannot be taken because they do not have the expected buttons to press. I think it is high time companies/Establishment stopped opting for graduates with first class only. Anyways, kudos to the cleaner. I think he was only able to because he is used to the office operations, environment and faces. I kindly apply o, statistician internship/economist. I have a 2.2. I dey gidigba. 1 Like |
