iblawi: Yes, Nigerian produced the 4K 4FA tracked armoured vehicle. Very good armour with frontal protection against 20mm cannon shells. We produced about 250 units in Bauchi city, including the APC variant, 81mm mortar carrier variant, and command post variant, armoured recovery vehicle, and ambulance. Usually armed with one 12.7mm heavy machine gun and one 7.62mm light machine gun combined. It's a very capable loose sand and thick mud terrain mobile vehicle.....South African army has NOTHING in it's class. "SPECIAL VEHICLE PLANT (SVP) PROJECT On 22nd January 1979 the Federal Government signed an agreement with Steyr Daimler Puch AG (Defence Division) of Austria. The agreement provides for the construction of Factory Building in Bauchi complete with all utilities, roads, rails and furniture for the production of Armoured Personnel carriers (APC). The Factory was designed to assemble in 8 hours days shift the following, 300 units/yr 2 axles (4x4) Pinzgauer, 1 ton payload, 200 units/yrs 3 axles (6x) Pinzgauer; 1.5 ton payload, 140 units/yr Armoured Personnel Carriers; 45 unit/yr Command vehicles (APC); 10 units/yr Motor Carriers (ACP) and 5 units/yr Ambulances (APC). Factory buildings, Utilities, Roads, workshop equipment have all been completed and commissioned since 1982. The SVP buildings are currently being utilized by the Nigerian Army for the maintenance and rehabilitation of Armoured fighting vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers under a contractual arrangement. Hopefully when the contract is completed the Factory would be handed back to DICON." http://www.dicon.gov.ng/RD.html Tracked AFV, DICON Power, Proudly Made In Nigeria !! .

DonBobes: Because the likes of Boko Haram would never have the guts to take on SANDF in our own country. They did that with you because they know you're a useless bunch. How embarrassing is it that they had heavy equipment, painted in their colours, on your own soil. Within 15 minutes of a terrorist group driving around in armoured vehicles and using artillery, our airforce will blow them to bits. They know that, hence i can go to a market here in SA without wondering if a car will blow up. Boko Haram took on the Nigerian military on your home soil because they know you're useless. It took you years to assemble any sort of a well organised counter. 1 Like |

Patchesagain: Argue like a man Patches. Argue like a man Patches, stop telling open lies and denying proved facts. Since you say Nigeria does not produce what DICON, NACE, AFIT, PROFORCE etc have been proved to produce, it is quite clear that South Africa does NOT produce all those things you listed. Your list is false. You are an importing nation, you buy weapons and equipment irrationally. SPECIAL VEHICLE PLANT (SVP) PROJECT On 22nd January 1979 the Federal Government signed an agreement with Steyr Daimler Puch AG (Defence Division) of Austria. Just because Nigeria produces weapons like this that South Africa dos not produce, is not a reason for immature and senseless denial of truth. Patchesagain: 1. Igirigi with 23 mm X Double Barrel Cannon is not an IFV ? 2. So your navy does not buy for maritime security in peacetime and project Biro remains on a dust gathering piece of paper? Indian navy is now depending on Nigerian navy for help with maritime security Indian navy bypassed South Africa, they sailed Indian ocean on your coastline and sailed to far up to Atlantic ocean to sign maritime security deal with Nigerian navy because South African submarines and warships are USELESS in peace time. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11_WTmps1WQ . 3 Likes |

This is a proper Air Force, not the useless South-African Air Force with their 9 Gripen pilots. The Nigerian Air Force has conducted 286 air operations on Boko Haram targets in the last one month, it said on Saturday. Addressing a press conference in Maiduguri, the Deputy Theatre Commander (Air) of the counter-insurgency operation in the North-East (Operation Lafiya Dole), Air Vice Marshall Isiaka Amao said the air component of the counter- insurgency operation has conducted 286 “operational sorties” against Boko Haram terrorists targets from December 25, 2015 till date. He explained that this translates to 157,000 Square Kilometres of operational coverage, equivalent “to the total land mass of South Korea, Portugal and Togo.” He said this also translates to “a total of 536 hours 21 minutes were flown by various platforms engaged in the operations, expending 316,637.5 litres of aviation fuel which amounts to N60,376,912, excluding the cost of maintenance and armament expended.” He said the operations which was aimed at further degrading the terrorist group, also was targeted towards surveillance at locating the abducted Chibok girls and other citizens that may have been abducted by the terrorist group. Amao said successes were recorded as during the operations there was destruction of newly discovered Boko Haram leadership hideouts, enclaves, logistics support bases and infrastructure. He insisted that this led to the terrorist group fleeing Sambisa Forest to near locations due to aerial bombardment and has denied them the opportunity to regroup. He said that during one of the air strikes on Christmas Day in Sambisa Forest, the leadership meeting of the insurgency group was disrupted and over 15 persons were killed. He disclosed that apart from Sambisa Forest, air strikes have been conducted on other hideouts including Gawa, Walasa, Kote, Alagarno, Talala, Alafa North, Yele, Arra, Dure, Ajigin, Takwalla and Kumshe. He said close battlefield air interdiction and close air support were provided for Nigerian troops at Gadzama and Ngwalimiri Source:http://www.punchng.com/286-air-operations- conducted-on-boko-haram-hideouts-since-december/ 2 Likes 1 Share |

agaugust: 1. It is a re-purposed MRAP that only conforms to the status of IFV via NATO definitions. And you built neither the vehicle nor the gins 2. Project Biro is going ahead as planned. When did India say they depend on you for maritime security? What maritime security deal? Fact is, we are currently on our way to take part in exercises with them, as we do every year, you do not. You buy ships in peacetime so you have them in wartime. Or do you think the enemy will wait 5 years for you to get new ships? 3 Likes 1 Share |

Henry240: Are Nigerian numerically illiterate? 286/30 = 9 sorties per day 9 divided by 7 operational assets = 1.3 sorties per day per asset So well done, your 7 operational assets did just under two sorties per day in a month. FYI, our "9" Gripen pilots would have flown a total number of 351 sorties in the same period of time with the same number of missions per day. 2 Likes |

Patchesagain: DICON official website clearly says it has production plant for producing the tracked 4KAFA Styer APC with capacity to produce 300 vehicles per year. DICON and Styer Nigeria Limited produced 250 of mixed variants in Bauchi for Nigerian army including heavy machine gun, mortar carrier, command post, and ambulance types. Many sources confirm it, and even researchers have written books on the productions, nobody in his right mind disputes it except a liar of a man CHOKED WITH ENVY, its all common knowledge since the 1980s when production of the famous high performance tracked vehicle started and was first in Africa. "Systems currently under production include armoured personnel carriers (Steyr) at the Steyr plant in Bauchi." https://books.google.ca/books?id=yTaz5HaKpKkC&pg=PA231&lpg=PA231&dq=Bauchi+produced+Steyr+APC&source=bl&ots=SmkkdrYdRc&sig=3r85MlzozkZ81PDNt2JbKFCqGsA&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjbkounltPKAhWD_R4KHdGIBR0Q6AEIHzAB#v=onepage&q=Bauchi%20produced%20Steyr%20APC&f=false Nigerian local defence industry produces tracked armoured vehicles in FOUR VARIANTS, heavy machine gun, mortar carrier, command post, and ambulance. South Africa does NOT and CANNOT produce tracked armoured vehicles. We bëat you again on this one . |
