What exactly is your point here? That people shouldn’t pursue their dreams of studying abroad, even if it means borrowing the funds? You’ve been very informative with your post, thank you. But you’ve only succeeded in playing on people’s fears and you may have discouraged quite a few peeps in the process. You may never know. Germany is not easy especially nowadays. If had seen who advised me not to come then 3 yrs ago i for no come. I for reason other better English speaking country. Even the study here is not easy. Since 3 yrs i have been here i never even see work wey get head. last year i worked once for 3 weeks. How can u read or study make e enter when u are thinking of bills to pay and no money? Na that situation unua want? Pls think of better countries like Canada. How u want take even cope for study when u never pay bills and no job or when u even get job if at all u got and u come back late so tired after doing heavy rejected jobs here how do u think u cab read again that day. who no go no know. Schwarz has raised some very good and salient point. But I need to stress the fact that Its not "Rossy" everywhere. I doubt if you ever had the chance/opportunity to hustle in Nigeria, you would get my point better.

Life is all about ups and down. Nigeria has alot of negativities, yet we are surviving. Likewise in every other country. The key to surviving in Germany is the language, coupled with the energy to work and study at the same time. I believe he should have balanced the write-ups with some other advantages. You cant just come and paint the whole country as if people are not making it there. Life is not fair to everybody. You may be in a city/town where economics activities are not taking place. but some other cities are bubbling. In as much I respect your advice, you went too deep about painting the economics aspect..

If its gonna cost me to sell properties to get to my destination, am gonna do just that. The hustling spirit never give up. I can authoritatively tell you a whole lots of students borrowed money, got loans to achieve the German dreams and they still got high hopes.

I have always been positive, determined, aggressive, with the "CAN-DO" ability. As for me,  I will choose Germany over alot of developed countries without thinking twice..

But seriously why not do your best to relocate to canada or at least apply for jobs in Naija,. You do not have to settle down in Germany, I believe with your German certificate you would be given preferential treatment for jobs in Naija (depending on your field though). My brother even in the canada you dream of, you would find people complaining there as well, and of course you know schooling in canada is more expensive no matter how difficult or expensive it is in Germany. In summary I agree with you that canada may be better but I believe your studying in Germany has also paved the way for you at least it has opened doors for more opportunities irrespective of the present circumstances.

Also join the nigeria scholar in Germany in Nrw....u can get info from there.

Bro, do you know of any uni in berlin that offers tuition-free Msc engineering programs. I have searched daad but found none. They all carry huge tuition fees.

Your assertions about borrowing might be true based on location and your level of language profiency...
Men, the thread don reach 400 pages...

What i can say is this, Germany is not for the lazy bones (when you are working for 8 hours, you only have one hour break in between to chat and rest, for the working period, you will certainly be on your feet (literately or other wise)
You are certainly going to work at odd hours for some jobs.

If your heart is set towards making some money, then, DON'T go to backwater towns with little economic activities especially if you don't speak the language.

Some cities will not offer you long term extensions, as that guy mentioned, you could even get 8 months. (Luckily, Munich gives between 24-30 months at least but rent here is the highest in the country )

There are jobs here, plenty of them begging for workers but the language will restrict you in many. So, for those coming, your single most important meal ticket here is the German language, Learn, and you won't have any complaints like the majority of us here.
And men, the level of education here is on another level, if you are mediocre, make sure you pump up your energy to the power of ten, combining work and school will place some demands on your mortal flesh.

@eke40seven, please can you please enlighten urs on life after studies, I think dats where most of us are Really interested in. Like you said they are jobs, Do you mean student jobs or graduate jobs.

One tip.. if you good and wants study IT related course - Computer Science..etc

Come here..Top school for Computer Science. Na here Hienz Nixdorf dey..

If you have GRE:: gpa of atleast 3.0 or 3.2 in Nigerian scale and you think you are good but looking for course in Electrical Engineering or related - Electrical System Engineering..let me know or apply here.. You will get admitted. But take note.. must be good student or ready to learn.. because here na perfection them wants and small school dey form hard..

First semester is hectic and no time
