Read through, 'twas disappointing! All I saw from majority of posts are badly understood ideas, unproven and/or untestable hypotheses, science fiction, pseudo-science, UFO & ancient aliens conspiracy crack-heads, mysticism, and other unbelievable utter BS. The fact is you have to do lots of hard work to reach the competency required to answer these questions as well as other stuff in QFT and the standard model of particle physics. It isn't by reading some pages off the internet or watching some videos or some novel for laymen written by a famous physicist, you need to pick up textbooks and make sure you understand every major idea, and supplement them with lecture vids from classical mechanics to EM to QM to AP to CMP and others. But, it's nice to see there're lots people with interest in physics and the universe in our country. If only the bloody useless govt and her education ministry could use the "billions" budgeted annually for education to actually buy proper analysis equipment necessary for experimental research... On a lighter note, there are rumors of promising data supporting the existence of gravitational waves. However, don't get your hopes too high! http://www.wired.com/2016/01/astrophysicists-may-have-found-gravitational-waves-or-not/ |

Jimmyo3: Gravity is not energy, so it can not be quantized. Gravity as postulated by Einstein's Law of General Relativity is a distortion in the fabric of space-time. |

we are alone . The universe is God's solution to man's churning curiosity and insatiable desires cause it unfolds more the more we explore it. |

Re: Are We Alone In The Universe? by micodon(m): 10:03pm On Feb 02, 2016 |
erusen: No, I'm not. Example, at Numbers 14:34,the Bible talks of a day for a year. At 2 Peter 3:8,the Bible talks of a day for a thousand years. There's several other principles like that in the Bible. When you see a day in the Bible, it's probably in relative terms, not our absolute 24 hour period. That's what many so-called Christians fail to understand. Study is needed 2 Likes 1 Share |

Guys, the wow signal Theory that it was sent from ET has probably been cracked. Check it out ******************************** According to Antonio Paris, an astronomer at St. Petersburg College in Florida, the Wow! signal could have been produced by one or two passing comets, namely 266P/Christensen and P/2008 Y2 (Gibbs). It sounds weird, but Paris says that comets are known to release considerable amounts of hydrogen when passing near the Sun. As they make their way into the inner Solar System, ultraviolet rays disturb the comet surface, releasing a cloud of hydrogen that extends like a tail for millions of miles. It could have been this cloud of hydrogen, says Paris, that caused the Wow! signal. Some comets have gas. If the comets were passing in front of the Big Ear in 1977, they would have generated an apparently short- lived signal, as the telescope (now dismantled) had a fixed field of view. Searching that same area – as subsequent radio telescopes did – wouldn’t show anything. Tracing the comets’ positions back in time, Paris says that the possible origin for the Wow! signal falls right between where they would have been. Neither comet was known in 1977; they were both discovered in the last decade, which would mean nobody would have thought to search for them. The odds of any telescope catching them in the region of the Wow! signal by chance were vanishingly small. But some astronomers aren’t buying it, arguing that one or two comets couldn’t possibly release enough hydrogen to produce such a strong signal. Thankfully, however, Paris has produced a testable hypothesis: Comet 266P/Christensen is coming back to our neighborhood in January 27, and P/2008 Y2 (Gibbs) will return in January 2018. By analyzing the comets’ hydrogen signatures, we should have a good idea if Paris’s theory is correct. ******************************* see more gizmodo.com/mysterious-wow-signal-came-from-comets-not-aliens-cl-1752331824 sooooo......................damn? wirinet: Gravity is indeed postulated and explained as a distortion of space time wrt relativistic mechanics. Relativistic mechanics has actually held water and proven true to all our extents and experiments with the light bending and time lagging, so we can basically rely somewhat on its physical principles. |

dabosuker: I will like to call it a more advance science. Imagine what could not be done in decades ago, for example a plane that could make you fly if someone could do that centuries ago he or she will be called a witch or wizard but now such is possible and it is called science. It is magic when we don't understand it but science when we do. 1 Like |
