And never wanted to give me a definite answer just for the fact that she has a so-called boyfriend in the United States.

I tried my possible best to just get her off my mind and since that day I wrote the last piece, I had not gotten in touch with this lady and I must say I had been able to get her off my mind. And besides, why wouldn’t I even get her off my mind? I have works to do, columns to write, assignments at my work place and so on. So it would be quite time-wasting to dwell on what was not going to yield anything for me as far as I am concerned.

Fast forwarded to yesterday. I was with my colleagues at work during lunch break, when a message came into my phone. It was so surprising to see that this lady sent me a text message because she herself had not contacted me ever since then, so it came as much surprise to me.

She asked if she could see me after work that she had something important to discuss with me. I didn’t know what that could be as I had totally erased the possibilities of her saying yes to my proposal. But at the same time, I was so delighted that she sent in a text and I couldn’t wait to get hold of what she might have to discuss with me.

Although I didn’t want it to look like I was so delighted to get her message, so I replied saying I didn’t know if I would be coming to the estate that night as I had planned to sleep over at a colleague’s place, but I would notify her if I would be coming. Despite knowing I wouldn’t even waste any time getting home that evening after work. She replied me saying it was so important and couldn’t wait till another day.

I asked to tell me what she actually intended to discuss with me, but she insisted we had to see that night. I still stood on the fact that it was not certain I would come home, but hopefully I would try my possible best.

I called her around 8 p.m when I got home and she sounded so happy to get my call. She asked that we met at my gate and I rushed downstairs to meet her. She looked so gorgeous as I noticed she just took her bath, she was smelling nice, with a light red lipstick painted on her lips. We found a secluded corner to sit and talk and what she said actually got me shocked, but I was actually expecting that and I must say I managed to smile a little bit though I didn’t let her see the smile off my face.

“Duke, it’s not that I don’t like you” she started “but my boyfriend is so much dearly to me and I love him so much I always find it hard saying yes to another guy” she paused for a little while and then continued “But something happened yesterday and I got suspicious of him. He didn’t reply his Whatsapp chat throughout the day and when it was night time, he claimed he was so busy and to make matters worse, I checked his dp after I noticed it wasn’t his picture he used, and shockingly, it was the picture of his ex-girlfriend here in Nigeria”

I just opened my mouth wide and decided to say nothing all the while she was telling me her tales by moonlight. She then continued “I have decided not to take any chances at all, and I guess since you have been on my matter for some time and you have as well proven yourself to be a nice guy, I want to give you a trial and see how you can prove to me that you truly love me”

“No problem” I said “I won’t disappoint you”

It was already late and we and we decided to call of the meeting and probably see each other the next day. I must say I was so delighted to at least have a positive response after close to 6 months that I had been on this lady’s issue.

I was in my room trying to replay the whole issue of the night. I went back memory lanes of how I had suffered trying to get the attention of this lady, the times we shared together at the eateries, cinemas and so on. All in a bid to impress her then. And suddenly something flashed through my mind. I immediately remembered this lady was telling me at the beginning of the year that her birthday is on February 6th.

Could this be the reason she was saying yes at this particular moment. Events of the following days will surely tell.

It will a London Derby between us both
